The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with clockspring failure. The dealer informed the contact that the clockspring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE THAT MY FUEL PUMP WAS BEING RECALLED FOR SAFETY PRECAUTIONS. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP AND THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE, THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR THE DEALERSHIPS TO REPAIR. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT GOING WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT GOES FROM 5 MPH-55 MPH WITHOUT ME INITIATING IT. THIS IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TRANSPORT MY PRECIOUS CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL AND WORK EVERYDAY IN THIS DEFECTED VEHICLE.

I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP IN THE STEERING WHEEL. ON THE DISPLAY IT SHOWED AIRBAG ERROR AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE CALLED ME AN TOLD ME THAT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK IN A CRASH AN THAT THERE IS TWO RECALLS ON MY CAR ONE BEING THE TAKATA AN THE OTHER BEING NHSTA RECALL NUMBER 15V48300. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPED AN THEY SAID THERE WAS RECALLS ACCORDING TO MY MODEL BUT WASN'T ANY RECALLS THEY CAN FIX ACCORDING TO MY VIN NUMBER WAS CURIOUS WHAT I NEED TO DO ABOUT THIS

FOR NO APPARENT REASON, STEERING CLOCK SPRING CEASED FUNCTION, RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, THE HORN AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG. UPON INTERNET SEARCH, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, STARTING AT 50,000 MILES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 VOLKSWAGEN CC. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK, LEFT SHOULDER, AND NECK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL. I LIVE IN FLORIDA AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT STATES WITH HIGH HUMIDLY AND HOTTER TEMPERATURES CAN CAUSE THE AIR BAGS TO IMPLODE. BASED ON THE AFOREMENTIONED AS WELL AS THE ACTUAL RECALL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THIS WILL BE RECTIFIED. MANY OF MY FRIENDS HAVE HAD THEIR VEHICLES RECALL FOR AIRBAGS REPAIRED OR AT LEAST PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR UNTIL A FIX IS AVAILABLE. VW HAS OFFERED ME NOTHING.

THEY ASKED ME TO PAY $199 FEES IN ORDER TO JUST CHECK EVERYTHING AND THEN LET ME KNOW HOW MUCH I HAVE TO PAY.., INSTEAD OF THEM FIX THE 2 RECALLS I HAVE IN THAT CAR AND APOLOGIZE TO ME, THEY TRYING TO THROW THE BALL BACK TO SO IT SOUND LIKE MY PROBLEM AND I HAVE TO PAY, IT'S NOT THEIRS !!! TAKATA RECALL - TODAY AFTER ENDLESS WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO BE ABLE TO REPAIR THE AIRBAGS IN OUR 2011 VW CC MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO TRADE THIS CAR IN AS WE FELT THE RISK FOR AIRBAG RELATED INJURIES IN THE EVENT OF A DEPLOYMENT WERE NOT WORTH KEEPING THE CAR. WE WERE SHOCKED TO FIND THAT DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT EVEN TAKE THIS CAR IN ON TRADE DUE TO THE OPEN RECALL WITHOUT REMEDY. WE FEEL WE ARE NOW FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH A KNOWN SAFETY DEFECT THAT INCREASES OUR CHANCE OF INJURY AND/OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I ASKED A LOCAL VW DEALER TO BUY THE CAR BUT THEIR OFFER WAS FAR BELOW FAIR VALUE BECAUSE THEY STATED THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO SIT UNTIL THEY COULD FIX THE ISSUE.
