The vehicle's emergency communication system (SOS button) and CarNet connectivity completely failed, disabling critical safety features. Repair History: First Attempt: The vehicle was at the authorized dealer (Volkswagen of Union, NJ) for 2 days. They replaced a communication module but released the vehicle to me with the SOS system still non-functional and without verifying the repair. Current Status: The vehicle has been back at the same dealership for over 14 days (Total cumulative days out of service: 16+ days). The dealer has failed to fix the safety defect and also refuses to address a persistent internal brake pedal noise, dismissing it without proper diagnosis. This vehicle is currently unsafe to drive as it cannot contact emergency services in the event of a crash
I was parking , I had my foot on the brake. I was at the parking curb stopped and my vehicle fully ecellerated , full speed crashing me into the building infront of me. the vehicle would not turn off even after exiting. this happened before however I only hit the curb as there was nothing else to hit. Im terrified. This could have EASILY KILLED SOMEONE. someone needs to review the data recorder in this vehicle IMMEDIATELY
On 9/2/25, I gave my car to my local dealership to complete routine maintenance and to remedy a safety recall that had been initiated a few months prior. It was supposed to take one day to complete, but I was told that they were having trouble with a certain scan tool and would need technical assistance on their end before they could complete the recall. In short, it is now more than 3 months later (12/5) and I STILL do not have my car back. To the best of my knowledge, this is the problem: there is a scan tool that is necessary to complete the recall, and that this tool is malfunctioning. What the dealership keeps telling me is that they “continue to send tickets to their IT department, but don’t hear anything back.” A couple of times, they have heard back and have tried different updates or workarounds, to no avail. On multiple occasions, my service advisor has said that they “send tickets to IT daily in order to bother them enough actually do something.” I finally called VW customer care after my car had been with the dealership for 2 months, and the case was escalated to an RCM. She has tried following up with the dealership, as well as reaching out to the QTRL and QTM to see if there was any way to try to suss out the issue. To my knowledge, both of those have been fruitless. In fact, when the QTM visited the dealership to look at my car on November 26, all were hopeful there would be some movement. My RCM told me that the QTM was looking for updates to my case that “just weren’t there.” And that “the QTM on multiple occasions had looked for updates, but none were available.” To top things off, I spoke with my RCM on 12/2, and she said that my ticket had been closed due to “no updates in 5 days.” Infuriated, she reached back out that day to reopen the ticket. I was told today, 12/5, that the ticket STILL hasn’t been reopened. There is more, but I’m out of space. This many miscommunications and complete inaction is absolutely inexcusable at this point.
The infotainment screen shuts off while driving, causing the driver display to freeze. As a result, the driver cannot access essential driving information such as speed. VW advised me to let the system rest, but this is a serious safety concern. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer twice, yet the issue persists.
To start, have requested the vehicle paperwork many times and the dealership has failed to give me a copy. The real problem started when i took my EV to get checked as the battery was not lasting long, they said it was normal, took it again as it stopped charging on type 1 and 2 chargers, they now said it was the Onboard charging module. Also had to take the vehicle for a recall a few months ago as it had faulty door locking sensors. I feel unsafe to drive the car as a new problem appears every couple of months and VW is not reliable, my vehicle only has 7000miles in over a year and i have taken it to the dealership 3 times for safety issues
Several issues with the ID.4's Navigation module including 1. Dynamic Signage not Available warning signs and posting an incorrect speed limit on the dashboard. 2. Incorrect GPS Location, showing locations that are significantly off from the actual location and therefore providing incorrect directions to charging locations and other destinations. 3. The SOS Feature is inactive due to the vehicle's inability to determine its location. The vehicle has been with the dealer several times over the past 3 months and has been unable to be fixed. Furthermore, due to the above issues, several features of the vehicle are unusable including android auto.
ID.4 2024 Pro AWD (Canada) Cannot connect to CARNET (Since June 16 2024, for past 5 days), vehicle breaks suddenly on highway. Dash displays approaching intersection but there's no intersection. Traumatizing experience. 1. Vehicle was connected to Google map, but VW insists on trusting their own navigation system (even though it's not working). 2. No way for user to connect the car's network to be "online" using personal cellphone data. (Forcing user to buy CARNET package, otherwise safety is not guaranteed) 3. For a 2024 EV, vehicle should at least design safety measure for such scenario. If the driver's hands are detected on the steering wheel, and ACC is ON. The car will NOT auto break during intersection. (It doesn't break BEFORE the intersection any way!!!) In uploaded picture taken in an intersection. Connected to google map, but vehicle dashboard displays current road is 100 KM/H zone. (It's a 50KM/H zone). Driver safety cannot be promised!!!!
My 2024 vw Id4 has 2 long ignored safety recalls. The dealer i bought car from won't respond and I'm very far down the waiting list for repairs. My car isn't in a garage and one of the recalls for the door handles is worsened by it being always outdoors. Would you please help me get both recalls fixed?
My door handles (all) were replaced per the last recall on the car. Even after the fix, the door handles only work some of the time. And, the locking mechanism is having problematic issues as well. I can assure you that the recall was was unsuccessful.
Every few days, the doors unlock on their own when parked. It recent as late as 15 minutes ago. It has been happening for a few weeks.
Doors unlocking randomly back seat occupants cannot open the door when the car is unlocked and parked. They put a stop sale on all cars in the making because it’s deemed unsafe to sale but a car that is less than 2 months old is deemed safe and won’t buy back.
I purchased this vehicle a week ago, and it has only 300 miles on it. The problem: The charging port flap does not open, and therefore, the vehicle cannot be charged. I checked online, and there are many, many cases of this happening in VW vehicles; it is not restricted to EVs. Why is this a safety issue? Imagine you are in the middle of the night or under inclement weather conditions while going somewhere and you stopped to charge the battery. Since charging port does not open, you cannot charge the battery. You are stranded, stressed and exposed to potential crime, bad weather and aggravation of health problems that can lead to stroke and death. Why does VW use this defective charging or fueling port flap in spite of countless incidents of its not opening? Please issue a recall and force VW to install a working fuel port flap.
