WIRES ARE BURNED OUT INSIDE DASHBOARD PANEL, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUTDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. PLEASE FURNISH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. DEALER IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
BLOWER SWITCH GETS EXTREMELY HOT WHEN AIR CONDITIONING IS RUNNING. ACTUALLY BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM THE DASH AND MELTED THE SWITCH BEZEL. I WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE HEAT WITH MINIMAL DAMAGE ONLY TO THE BLOWER SWITCH AND DASH FASCIA. I'M NOT POSITIVE THAT IT RESULTED IN FIRE, BUT I AM POSITIVE IT WOULD HAVE IF I HAD NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF IMMEDIATELY. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THIS MODEL YEAR JETTA.*AK

VEHICLE PARKED OVERNIGHT. WENT TO START VEHICLE AND IT FAILED TO START. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER. WAS INFORMED DASHBOARD WIRES HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. EVERYTHING INSIDE DASHBOARD WAS DAMAGED & FUSED. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OVER NIGHT AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OCCURRED IN THE DASH AREA, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL POWER, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
WIRING HARNESS FAILURE RESULTED IN VEHICLE FIRE AND DAMAGE TO OTHER COMPONENTS.
DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR FAILED.
ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ,AND THEY PUT IT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY DISTRIBUTOR CAP. *AK
THE ENGINE WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING AND LOSE POWER. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTOR IN APRIL OF 95, IGNITION COIL IN APRIL OF 96, THE IDLE STABILIZER IN AUGUST OF 96, IN SEPTEMBER OF 97 THE IGNITION COIL WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE STALLING PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES. *AK
IGNITION COIL CABLE FAILED CAUSING MISFIRE AND ERRATIC ENGINE PERFORMANCE,PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE.
WHEN DRIVING IN HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS AND THE AIR CONDITIONER IS IN THE ON POSITION, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND CUT OFF. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER, DEALER UNABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. *AK VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR RECALL REGARDING THE IGNITION COIL. *SLC
EXCESSIVE IDLE SPEED, REPLACED ALARM SYSTEM ONCE,REPLACED IDLE STABILIZER THREE TIMES AND COMPUTER CONTROL REPLACED ONCE ,VEHICLE IS STILL IDLING HIGH, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. *AK *JB
CONSUMER WENT OUT TO GET INTO CAR AND ALL FOUR POWER WINDOWS WERE DOWN AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP . *AK DEALER STATED WIRING NEEDED REPAIRED. *SLC
