CONSUMER STATE THAT WHEN CAR WAS SOLD FRONT AND REAR AXLE WAS DAMAGED. *MJ
TRANSMISSION WOULD GO FORWARD WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE. MUCH NOISE WAS PRESENT. AT 100017 MILES DEALER CLAIMED TRANSMISSION WAS OK SO I SHOULD JUST DRIVE THE CAR. DEALER / VOLKS N.A. CLAIM MILEAGE EXCEEDED WARRANTY THEREFORE THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PORTION OF THE COST OF REPAIRS. *AK
ENGINE WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS UP HILL, ON FLAT ROAD OR SHIFTS THREE TIMES JUST TO GET TO 30 MPH, VEHICLE HAD A FULL TUNE UP, NEW OXYGEN SENSOR AND NEW TRANSMISSION STILL WILL NOT DRIVE SMOOTHLY.*ET
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, VEHICLE COMMENCED TO LOSES POWER. ALSO, OIL LEAKAGE DUE TO BLOWN HEAD GASKET. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
NO SUMMARY
BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED WITHIN ONE MONTH. THE FIRST (LEFT) FAILURE HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED WITH PLENTY OF WARNING SOUNDS. THE SECOND (RIGHT) FAILURE WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEED, RESULTING IN WHEEL SEPARATION AND LOSS OF CONTROL. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAVE OFFERED AN EXPLANATION OR APOLOGY FOR NOT INSPECTING ALL WHEEL BEARINGS AFTER THE FIRST PREMATURE FAILURE.
FOLLOWING APPROXIMATELY TWO DOZEN VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A CORRECTION, NOTHING WAS FOUND. AT ONE POINT AN AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE IT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. OFTEN TIMES A HESITATION WILL OCCUR WHEN I'M ACCCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC OR ATTEMPTING TO CLIMB A HILL OR MOUNTAIN. IN ADDITION, WHEN SHIFTING INTO GEAR THE TRANSMISSION WILL JERK AND SHIFTING INTO GEAR VERY ROUGHLY WHILE CLIMBING A HILL/MOUNTAIN.
WHEN TRAVELLING AT 30 MPH, THE REAR END JERKED, SPARKS FROM THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL. WHEN STOPPED, THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL AND DRUM WAS MISSING. DEALER CONTACTED, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. REPAIRS MADE AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. MECHANIC DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS A DISINTEGRATION OF WHEEL BEARINGS. *AK
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL (#98V160000) (MFG. RECALL #UC) & NOTIFIED DEALER. WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. CALLED MANUFACTURER & TOLD PARTS MAILED TO DEALER. DEALER HAS YET TO RECEIVE PARTS FOR HOOD LATCH. BEEN TO 2 DEALERSHIPS. *AK TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT THREE TIMES. RADIO FAILED. CLUSTER HOUSING REPLACED THREE TIMES. ALARM COMPUTER REPLACED. HEADLIGHT SWITCH REPLACED.DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR BUTTON REPLACED. INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED. *YH
WHEN PLACING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND PULLING OUT OF PARKING SPACE,THE LEFT WHEEL BROKE OFF FROM THE AXLE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND FIXED THE WHEEL. *AK
