THERE IS VACUUM PUMP DEFECT, MECHANICAL ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKETS, BREAKS, HOSES/PUMPS, WINDSHIELD FLUID MOUNTED HOUSES NEAR WINDSHIELD (FLUID SPRAYS THROUGH THESE HOUSES ON TO THE WINDSHIELD) AND KEY IGNITION INTERLOCK. PLEASE CALL AUDI FOR THE FULL DESCRIPTION OF DEFECTIVE PARTS AND REQUIRED MAINTENANCE. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE HEARD A LOUD POP OR BREAKING NOISE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT OPERATE STIFFENING THE STEERING WHEEL. AUTO WAS STOLEN AND CAME BACK WITH LOUD SCREECHING NOISE. UNKNOWN.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. THE PROBLEM WAS TRACED BACK TO A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS IN THE DOOR HINGE. THIS IS A VERY COMMON VW ISSUE, AND MANY OTHER ONLINE COMPLAINTS REFERENCE A WIRE HARNESS THAT IS TOO SHORT. I REPAIRED THE SEVERED WIRES WITH BUTT CONNECTORS. AFTER THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I INSPECTED THE WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM (CONNECTORS, WIRING, FUSES, ETC.) TO NO AVAIL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. AGAIN, OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF THIS SAME ISSUE WHEN FIXING A VW'S WINDOW (I.E., FIX THE WINDOW AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATES). THE TWO ISSUES SHOULD NOT BE CONNECTED, AND THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME.

APRIL 12, 2019 AIRBAG LIGHT APPEARED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE SERVICE CENTER OF THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP CAR WAS PURCHASED AT. AFTER DIAGNOSIS THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT TESTED FAULTY WHICH COULD BE RENDERING THE AIRBAG INOPERABLE. THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE ORDERED IN ORDER TO REPAIR IT AT A SECOND APPOINTMENT. CONCERNING THAT THE DEALERSHIPS DON'T CARRY PARTS THAT COULD AFFECT THE SAFETY FEATURES OF THE JETTA IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THIS JETTA HAS NEVER HAD THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY OR ANY ISSUES WITH THE SEAT BELTS UNTIL NOW.

WITH MY CAR IN MOTION EVERY TIME I TURN MY CAR ON, I HAVE MULTIPLE WARNINGS THAT COME ON DUE TO A FAULT IN SENSORS CAUSING MY CAR TO HAVE THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR AIR EMISSION ON MY CAR OR AIR BAG RECALLS ON MY CAR AND THERE ANSWER WAS NO. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE HAS BROKEN OFF TO WHERE YOU CANNOT PROPERLY CLOSE THE DOOR (I HAVE KRAZY GLUED IT BACK ON ONCE ALREADY) AND IT JUST IS BECOMING A BIG ISSUE. EVERY TIME I FIX ONE ISSUE, ANOTHER ONE RISES UP CAUSING ME MORE HEADACHES AND STRESS DUE TO NO ONE HAVING ANSWERS FOR ME.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WEST BROAD KIA (9001 WEST BROAD ST., RICHMOND, VA 23294, (804) 270-9000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG HIGH LIMIT WAS REACHED, WHICH MEANT THAT THE MEMORY SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 193,028.

ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO ,I TOOK MY JETTA TO THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALER IN REGARD TO FRONT AIRBAGS RECALL. THE LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OFF. THEY REPAIRED IT, BUT AFTER A YEAR THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND STAYED ON. WHEN I CALL THE DEALER, I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR AN INSPECTION OF THE CAR BEFORE THEY CAN DETERMINE IF IT IS DEFECTIVE OR NOT. IT SEEMS TO ME THEY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. ALSO MY HORN WANT OFF, ONE DAY, AND THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO STOP IT , WAS TO PULL THE FUSE OUT. WHEN I PUT THE FUSE BACK , THE HORN WOULD NOT WORK. NOTHING WRONG WITH THE FUSE. . MY YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT KEEP COMING ON , ESPECIALLY WHEN I USE MY A/C AND THERE IS A VERY STRANGE SMELL IN THE CAR. I ONLY HAVE 55000 MILES ON THIS CAR. AND TO TOP IT ALL, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, I GOT A ICON LIGHTING UP IN REGARD TO MY COOLANT. THE LITTLE BLACK TUBE THAT CONNECTS TO THE RESERVOIR HAD SLIPPED OFF AND ALL THE ANTIFREEZE FELL OUT OF IT ONTO THE ENGINE. OWNING A VOLKSWAGEN IS A REAL NIGHTMARE, HAD HONDA BEFORE, PUT OVER 130000 MILES ON IT AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM.WILL DEFINITELY NEVER BUY VOLKSWAGEN AGAIN AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND IT. TO ANYONE

THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY 2006 VW JETTA, WITH ONLY 57000 MILES, CAME ON FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG A FEW YEARS AGO AND I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AT THAT TIME TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED TO ADDRESS THAT RECALL. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO THE LOCAL VW DEALER, I WAS TOLD THAT MY PASSENGER SEAT SIDE AIRBAG WAS "DEFECTIVE" AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS AIRBAG IS LOCATED IN THE SAME LOCATION WHERE THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE. I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL VW DEALER THAT THE AIR BAG MUST BE DEFECTIVE, BECAUSE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE, THERE IS NO EXCUSE THAT SUCH AIRBAG SHOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO "WEAR AND TEAR." I WAS CHARGED $128.40 BY THE LOCAL VW DEALER FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND WAS QUOTED AN ADDITIONAL $724 PLUS TAX FOR THE AIRBAG TO BE REPLACED TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE. THE LOCAL VW DEALER TOLD ME TO CONTACT VW CORPORATE, AS I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR A DEFECTIVE AIRBAG THAT WAS ALREADY RECALLED IN THE PAST. WHEN I CONTACTED VW CORPORATE, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIR, AS THEY DO NOT FEEL THAT THE AIRBAG IS DEFECTIVE (EVEN THOUGH THEIR OWN DEALERSHIP SAYS IT IS) AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SAFETY REPAIR OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. I DID MY RESEARCH, AND APPARENTLY THERE ARE MANY 2006 JETTA OWNERS WHO ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME AIRBAG DEFECT ISSUE. VW REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL AND REFUSES TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE NHTSA MUST FORCE VW TO REPLACE ITS FAULTY AIRBAGS AT NO COST TO INNOCENT CONSUMERS! I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE NOW AND WILL NOT ALLOW MY PREGNANT WIFE IN THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I WAS TOLD BY THE LOCAL VW DEALER THAT THERE IS A STRONG POSSIBILITY THAT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND ONE OF THE AIRBAGS IS DEFECTIVE. *JS

PURCHASED THE 2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA IN AUGUST 2014 WITH 116,000 MILES. ONE MONTH LATER THE HORN WAS NOT WORKING. UPON DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH, DISCOVERED AN INORDINATE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT THESE HORNS BECOME INOPERABLE EVEN WITH FEWER MILES. THE PROBLEM COMES WHEN PRESSING THE HORN PAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL, IT DOES NOT MAKE CONTACT TO SOUND THE HORN. THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY IS LOCATED HERE AS WELL SO I DON'T FEEL IT'S SAFE TO TRY TO REPLACE IT MYSELF. THE QUOTE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED WAS $900.00. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND THEY TESTED THE AIR CODE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTOR MODULE WENT BAD DUE TO A ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION IN THE CIRCUIT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT ABLE TO SAY IF THE AIRBAGS WERE GOING TO WORK ON NOT IN THE CASE OF A CRASH. VOLKSWAGEN IS REFUSING TO TAKE ANY OWNERSHIP OF KEEPING THEIR VEHICLE SAFE AND COVERING THE COST OF THE PART. I CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN USA AND THEY GAVE THE REASON THEY WILL NOT COVER THE PART BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE A 2006 VW JETTA SD W/ 93,000 MILES. I USE THIS VEHICLE FOR WORK. THE AIR BAG FAULT LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. I INITIALLY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DAVID MAUS VW IN SOUTH ORLANDO. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPAIR REP KEVIN IT WOULD COST $400 TO REPAIR THE CONNECTOR LOCATED UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT THAT RELATE TO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. SINCE MY CAR WAS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD, I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO BEAR THIS COST. I ASKED [XXX] HOW THE CONNECTORS WOULD BECOME FAULTY SINCE THERE IS NOTHING EVER STORED UNDER MY DRIVER SEAT AND NO ONE GOES UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. [XXX] SAID THAT ??IT JUST HAPPENS.?? I TOLD HIM I WAS DISAPPOINTED VW HAD MADE SUCH A FAULTY CAR BECAUSE OF THE MANY PRIOR PROBLEMS I HAD THAT FORTUNATELY WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, E.G., ESP LIGHT CONTINUALLY ON; IGNITION COILS RECALLED/REPLACED; ASR LIGHT CONTINUALLY LIT; TRUNK LATCH REPLACED, AIR CONDITIONING VENTS BROKE, DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK/UNLOCK; AND DRIVER SIDE BUTTON STOPPED WORKING. AT 130,623 MILES OUR JETTA HAD TO HAVE THE CAMSHAFT AND LIFTERS REPLACED. THE LOBES ON THE CAMSHAFT HAD COMPLETELY WORN OFF AND THE LIFTERS HAD PITTED. I FEEL LIKE OUR DIESEL MOTOR HAS AGED PREMATURELY AND THERE IS AN UNDERLYING PROBLEM THAT VW IS IGNORING. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR. WE ARE HAVING BOTH REPLACED, BUT UNTIL THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM IS FOUND THERE WILL BE AN ISSUE AGAIN. VW MUST KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM. THEY STOPPED PRODUCTION OF THE TDI JETTA IN 2006. NOTHING SPECIFICALLY HAPPENED LEADING UP TO THE EVENT BUT AT AROUND 52000 MILES. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG ON/OFF INDICATOR WOULD NO LONGER SHOW THAT ANYONE WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE ORANGE/YELLOW AIRBAG LIGHT ALSO HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED CONSTANTLY SINCE THEN. I HAD THE DEALER RUN DIAGNOSTICS IN IT TO DETERMINE THE ERROR CODE. INITIALLY THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A FAULTY CONNECTOR IN THE WIRING, BUT THAT WAS DISCOVERED TO NOT ACTUALLY BE THE CAUSE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FAULTY WEIGHT SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. BE AGREED TO COVER THE LABOR ON IT AT FIRST WHEN IT WAS THOUGHT TO BE A FAULTY WIRING CONNECTOR BUT WHEN IT WAS FOUND TO BE THE WEIGHT SENSOR THEY HAVE NOT RETURNED THE DEALERS CALLS. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 VW JETTA TDI WITH APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES ON IT. THIS AUTO WAS PURCHASED TO BE USED PRIMARILY AS A COMMUTER CAR FOR MY WIFE AND I. LAST WEEK WE SUDDENLY STARTED SEEING THE DASHBOARD WARNING "AIR BAG FAULT". UPON TAKING IT TO THE LOCAL VWOA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS INVESTIGATED WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A VWOA TECHNICAL BULLETIN (THAT EVIDENTLY HAD BEEN OUT FOR SOME TIME) WHICH INDICATED THAT SOME CONNECTOR(S) LOCATED UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT THAT ARE RELATED TO THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS NOT A MAINTENANCE ITEM NOR ANYTHING THAT WE COULD HAVE CAUSED BUT VWOA IS INDICATING THAT DUE TO THE AUTO NOT BEING WITHIN THE WARRANTY (4 YEAR AND/OR 50,000 MILES AS WE'VE BEEN TOLD) THAT WE WILL NOW HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $400 TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. WE WERE FURTHER INFORMED BY THE VWOA SERVICE THAT WITHOUT THIS REPAIR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS CONSIDERED TO BE IN AN "UNSTABLE STATE" AND COULD POTENTIALLY NOT ACTIVATE THE AIRBAG WHEN NEEDED OR POSSIBLY ACTIVATE AT AN INAPPROPRIATE TIME. THE VW DEALER ALSO SAID THAT VWOA CONSIDERS THIS TO BE SO UNSAFE THAT THEY ISSUE A FREE RENTAL AND REQUIRE THE REPAIR TO BE MADE BEFORE RELEASING THE AUTO AGAIN....BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE UNDER WARRANTY. VWOA DID MANAGE TO COME THROUGH WITH SOME "GOOD WILL ASSISTANCE" (THEIR WORDS) BY PROVIDING $200 TOWARDS THE REPAIR. THIS AIRBAG ISSUE HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2006 VW JETTA (MAYBE OTHER YEARS AS WELL I'M NOT SURE) FOR SOME TIME. VWOA INDICATES THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT A MAJOR CONCERN AND IS THEREFORE NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA AND OTHER SITES THAT SEEM TO INDICATE THAT THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE THAN VWOA STATES. I THINK A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED DUE TO THE OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS INVOLVED WITH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. HOPEFULLY THERE WILL BE BEFORE ANY INJURIES AND/OR FATALITIES OCCUR. *TR

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE SEATBELT LIGHT HAS COME ON AND STAYED ON. THE FIRST TIME VWOA REPAIRED WIRING UNDER MY SEAT AT 49,000 MILES. THE LIGHT IS NOW ON AGAIN, LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER AND THEY WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAVE MORE THAN 12,000 MILE SINCE REPAIR. WIFE STATED THAT WHEN SHE HIT BRAKES IT WAS HARD TO STOP CAR ,DID NOT SLOW, REAR ENDED A SUV AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHICH PUSHED FRONT END UP TO WINDSHIELD ABOVE BUMPER, PUSHED ENGINE INTO FIREWALL. SHE INCURRED MAJOR SEAT BELT BRUISING WITH NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. AFTER INSPECTION THE INSURANCE COMPANY FOUND THAT TWO SENSORS HAD BEEN DISTORTED ALONG WITH CRACKED ENGINE MOUNTS AND BENT CRADLE. THEY TOTALED THE CAR DUE IN PART TO NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT,T AND FELT THAT THE CAR WOULD BE UNSAFE AFTER REPAIRS. AFTER CONTACTING VOLKSWAGEN, THEY SAID THAT AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. BUT WHAT IF MY WIFE HAD JUMPED INTO THE CAR AND FORGOT TO PUT THE SEAT BELT ON SHE WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT SINCE MOST ACCIDENTS WOULD OVER RIDE THE BUMPER DUE TO LOW BUMPER HEIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER OF MY VEHICLE AND THE DEALER HAVE INFORMED ME THAT MY VOLKSWAGEN TDI'S WIRING HARNESS WAS CRUSHED DUE TO A FOREIGN OBJECT UNDERNEATH THE SEAT. ALTHOUGH I AM CONTESTING THAT THE OBJECT IS MINE, I DO THINK IT IS OF CONCERN THAT THE WIRING HARNESS IS NOT SECURED OR PROTECTED IN ANY WAY, AND ANY OBJECTS THAT SLIDE UNDERNEATH THE SEAT MAY CRUSH THIS HARNESS AND MAY POSSIBLY RENDER THE AIRBAG SYSTEM USELESS. *JB

THIS IS NOT PROBLEMATIC IN THE DAYTIME BUT, AT NIGHT, IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE OF THE DISTRACTION OF A VERY BRIGHT ORANGE LIGHT GLARING AT THE DRIVER. I HAVE SPOKE TO THE ATT GENERALS OFFICE AND THIS FALLS UNDER THE SAFETY CATEGORY AND FEELS I SHOULD FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THIS.
