The car has been jerking when you’re driving and sometimes it jerks forward as you’re parking it while it’s in the parked position. Then I’m driving home from work , it’s raining heavy. I get to the Valaro store by my house; I put $40.00 worth of gas in the car after work drove home parked the car the next morning it would not turn over , would not ignite at all I took it to the shop. They said the computer was fried from the rain leaking through the windshield or under the windshield. They said it’s a major problem with this model car. The mechanic said the computer could not be fixed. He sent it to the Volkswagen repair shop it can’t be fixed and to replace it cost thousands of dollars !!! I can provide an estimate of the problems and possible repairs if needed . The mechanic stated it is not worth the cost to fix the car. I did notice that there is a powertrain recall and my mechanic is also stating that the transmission is the jerking problem we’re having.. I really think these should be recalled however I needed to submit my issues and see what you final decision would be on both situations, the powertrain transmission problem and the computer burnout problem thank you so much and hope you’re having a great day
The contact owned a 2007 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical problems. The contact stated while driving at 45 MPH, another driver persistently blew the horn at her to inform her that the vehicle had caught fire. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road and immediately exited the vehicle. The contact noticed that there was a fire underneath the passenger side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle burned to the ground and there was a big hole in the pavement. There was no further information provided. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with the assistance of the fire department. A fire department report was filed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The contact sustained post-traumatic stress disorder as she had lost her only daughter in a vehicle fire in the past. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 141,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WITH THE SEAT HEATER ON. I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AND THEN A BURNING SENSATION. BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER, THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT COVER, EXPOSING THE WIRING AND FOAM. MY COAT AND CLOTHING WERE BURNED, AS WELL AS MY BACK. THERE IS ALSO EVIDENCE OF OVERHEATING/BURNING IN ADDITIONAL LOCATIONS OF THE SEAT COVER, BUT IT ONLY BURNED THROUGH IN ONE LOCATION. I TURNED OFF THE SEAT HEATER AND DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS INSTRUCTED TO DISCONTINUE USE OF THE SEAT HEATER. THIS OCCURRED ON 3/8/19 WITH LESS THAN 95K MILES ON THE CAR.

DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO LOCK. FRONT DRIVER DOOR WILL LOCK BUT ALL OTHER DOORS DO NOT LOCK. ALARM WILL SOUND OFF IF DOOR IS OPENED BUT WILL ONLY WORK FOR 1 MINUTE THEN SHUT OFF. THIS HAS RESULTED IN AN AUTO BURGLARY AT MY SONS WORK PLACE PARKING LOT. IT ALSO POSES A DANGER TO CHILDREN IN BACK SEAT IF DOOR IS OPENED WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION. SAFETY IS AT ISSUE WHEN PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE NEED TO PREVENT BEING CAR JACKED OR ROBBED AS WELL. WE HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE IN THE ENGINE BAY BY THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP. THE LOW BEAM OF THE HEADLIGHT KEPT GOING OFF AND ON PROMPTING A BROKEN HEADLIGHT OR HEADLAMP BULB SIGNAL ON DASH BOARD. AFTER REPLACING THE BULB THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED IT CONTINUED PERIODICALLY FOR ABOUT ONE MONTH . WHILE DRIVING I SMELLED BURNING PLASTIC AFTER WHICH I NOTICED FLAMES FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP. I PULLED OVER OPENED THE HOOD NOTICING THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP WAS MELTING AND ON FIRE. WITHIN TWO MINUTES OF PULLING OVER THE ENGINE BAY WAS COMPLETELY MELTED . THE FIRE SPREAD TO THE INTERIOR ' MELTING IT.

ALL THE PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,200.

I REMAINED CALM UNTIL I ARRIVED TO A STOP LIGHT. WHEN I LOOKED BEHIND ME I NOTICED 3 HOLES IN MY SEAT. TWO LITTLE ONES AND ONE BIG ONE. YOU CAN SEE THE BURNT WIRES. I WAS SO ANGRY BY THE TIME I GOT TO WORK. I DROVE OVER TO VW NEMER IN LATHAM, NY TO HAVE THEM CHECK IT OUT AND MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO ENGINE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE REP. WAS NOT SYMPATHETIC AND NOT VERY POLITE. HE KEPT SAYING I SHOULD HAVE CALLED AND I SHOULD HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT. I TOLD HIM I WAS GOING TO STAY THERE AND WAIT TO FIND OUT THE RESULTS. HE CAME BACK TO TELL ME THAT THE SEAT WARMER BURNT OUT AND THAT WAS ALL. HE ALSO TRIED TO GET ME TO FIX MY BRAKES (I DID NOT COME IN FOR BRAKES). HE TOLD ME I WOULD NEED NEW WIRING AND SEAT COVERS (LEATHER) TO FIX IT. I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY A $100 DEDUCTIBLE. I AM NOT PAYING THAT DEDUCTIBLE. HOWEVER, IT DOES NOT MATTER, BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, BUT MY CAR HAS NOT REACHED 100,000 MILES YET... I HAVE WRITTEN A COMPLAINT TO VW DEMANDING SOME TYPE OF RESOLUTION. THEY NEED TO CHECK THEIR CARS VERY THOROUGHLY. I READ THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER SEAT WARMER INCIDENT THAT HAPPENED IN CANADA AND VW DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. STILL WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM. I WAS TOLD AT THE DEALER THAT IT WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE AS IT IS. WHEN I ASKED SINCE IT'S NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WILL THEY BE REPLACING IT AT NO COST? STATED NO SINCE THEY HAVE NO RECALL UNDER MY VIN # AND NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.

FEELING FRUSTRATED 2ND WEEK RENTING A CAR WAITING TO HEAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE THING WORSE I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW OFF THE SHOW ROOM FLOOR FROM [XXX] THAT DEALERSHIP HAS SINCE CLOSED DOWN I HAVE NOTICED CRACKING IF THE PAINT ON THE HOOD VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT I WAS TOLD FROM A BODY SHOP THAT REPAIR WORK WAS DONE TO THE CAR PROBABLY BECAUSE IT WAS DAMAGED IN SHIPPING AND IF THE COST OF REPAIR IS NOT AT LEAST 6 PERCENT OF THE PURCHASE PRICE VW DOES NOT HAVE TO DISCLOSE TO CUSTOMER. MY 2007 VW JETTA WITH 37K ON IT STARTED TO INDICATE ON THE DASH CLUSTER PANEL THAT THE DOOR IS CLOSED WHEN ITS OPEN. THE VEHICLE ALSO AUTOMATICALLY LOCKS THE DOOR ON ITS OWN ONCE I HAVE EXITED THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CAN LOCK MY CHILDREN INSIDE THE CAR, CAN AFFECT OTHER AREA OF THE CAR AND CAN CATCH FIRE WHILE ON THE ROAD. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN DISCOVERED ON VARIOUS JETTA, GTI, ETC AND VW HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. ON 7/3/2014 @ 10AM, VW OF AMERICA WAS CONTACTED AND WERE NOT HELPFUL AND DID NOT WANT TO ASSIST OR STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT DIE TO THE WARRANTY BEING EXPIRED. OPEN ROAD VW OF MANHATTAN WAS CONTACT FOR INFORMATION AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS FREQUENTLY ON THE ABOVE MENTIONED MODELS AND THAT THEY ESTIMATE THE JOBS TO BE FROM $700 AND UP. A LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD WITH THE ICON OF THE AIRBAG. I LOOKED IT UP AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A WARNING LIGHT TELLING ME THAT THE SENSORS IN THE SEAT THAT DETECT SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT WERE FAULTY AND COULD RESULT IN AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF AN IMPACT. [XXX] IS THE VIN OF THE CAR, RECENTLY THE ENGINE BEGIN TO STALL/DIE SOON AFTER STARTING, UNABLE TO HOLD THE IDLE SPEED BUT THERE WAS NO MIL/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, UPON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT USED TO RUN FINE IT CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. ONE FINE DAY MY WIFE AND 2.5 MONTH BABY WERE DRIVING ON I-75 SOUTH TO DETROIT DOWNTOWN AND CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY- IT JUST STOPPED FOR NO REASON NO MIL OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVEN AFTER THESE EVENTS. ON 25TH MARCH 2011 I STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING THEN I SAW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON DASH BOARD FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND DROPPED IT OFF AT FOX AUTOMOTIVE DEALER IN ROCHESTER HILLS MI. WHERE THEY WERE NOT COURTEOUS IN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND FOUND THE ENGINE SPEED SENSOR [CRANK ANGLE SENSOR] WAS FOUND BROKEN, REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME SEEM TO HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE OBD DID NOT WORK WHEN IT SAW SEVERAL MISFIRES AND ENGINE SPEED ISSUES, WHICH COULD HAVE PREVENTED MY WIFE AND BABY NOT TO DRIVE TO WORK ON FREEWAY, THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN. 2007 VW JETTA WOLFSBURG: PULLED OUT OF VW DEALERSHIP INTO AN INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. TURNED IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON AND THE CAR RESTARTED. GOT ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR LOST POWER GOING ABOUT 65 MPH. GAS PEDAL TO FLOOR AND NO ACCELERATION. REMOVED FOOT FROM PEDAL AND PUSHED AGAIN AND CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. EXITED OFF INTERSTATE AND SLOWED DOWN AT INTERSECTION TO STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. CAR WAS TOWED BY VW TO THEIR SERVICE DEPT. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED TO DIRECT TRAFFIC DUE TO THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS CREATED BY THE CAR STOPPING IN AN INTERSECTION. THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND WE WERE FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE BEEN KILLED OR TO HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON AN EXTREMELY HOT DAY. THE CAR WAS AT THE VW SERVICE DEPT FOR 12 DAYS AND OVER 600 MILES WERE PUT ON MY CAR BY VW. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED VW OF AMERICA TO HELP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPT MGR ACKNOWLEDGED LOW VOLTAGE ON THE METERS HE CONNECTED TO MY CAR AND ALSO THE IGNITION WOULD NOT START FOR HIM WHILE HE HAD THE CAR AT A GAS STATION. SINCE THEY COULD NOT EXACTLY RE-CREATE THE PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED, I DID NOT FEEL THEY COULD ASSURE ME THE CAR HAD BEEN REPAIRED AND WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY WERE "GUESSING" AT THE REPAIR. THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AND I WAS ASSURED BY VW SERVICE DEPT AND VW OF AMERICA THAT THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AND SAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER DRIVING APPX 300 MILES, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS REPORTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE UNDER VARIOUS CATEGORIES FOR 2007, 2008, 2009 AND 2010 JETTAS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE VW JETTA AND VW OF AMERICA NEEDS TO RESPOND TO THESE COMPLAINTS. THIS CAR SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD. BROUGHT CAR BACK TO THE DEALER EXPLAINING THE INACCURACY, WAS TOLD VERBALLY SPEEDOMETERS ARE GAUGES NOT METERS AND CAN ONLY BE DESIGNED TO GUESS THE ACTUAL SPEED, THEY CANNOT REPORT ACTUAL SPEEDS. WRITTEN EXPLANATION WAS A 5 MPH DIFFERENCE IS A NORMAL VARIATION OF SPEEDOMETERS BY ALL AUTO MANUFACTURERS AND THE CAR WAS PERFORMING AS ACCURATELY AS ALL OTHER VEHICLES. TECHNICIAN, WHO ALSO DRIVES A JETTA, TEST DROVE THE CAR AND NOTED SPEED READINGS WERE THE SAME AS HIS JETTA AT SIMILAR RPMS. HIS CAR IS ALSO APPARENTLY REPORTING SPEED 10% FASTER THAN HIS ACTUAL SPEED. AT FREEWAY SPEEDS THE 10% VARIANCE IN SPEED ACCURACY IS GREATER THAN THE 5 MPH DIFFERENCE TO BE EXPECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR EXPLANATION. *TR
I DRIVE A 2007 JETTA WOLFSBERG. IN APRIL 2010 I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. MY HUSBAND WENT OUT AND IT STARTED FOR HIM. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. A WEEK LATER THE CAR'S ENGINE JUST DIED WHILE TRAVELING 60MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHECKED ALL THE WIRING HARNESSES AND OVERLAID A WIRE. ONE DAY AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR BACK I HAD TROUBLE STARTING IT AGAIN. REPORTED THIS TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE. TWO DAYS LATER THE ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND WOULD NOT START. THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE VEHICLE WITH A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN. THE CONTACT STATED ONCE HE TOOK POSSESSION OF THE NEW VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED A FAILURE DID NOT EXIST IN THE NEWER VEHICLE AND DID NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT DISAGREED WITH THE DEALER STATING THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED OTHERWISE.
