I got the car off of some guy for 1600 dollars and I put a lot of money into and I have lights on the dash still on and the ecs is one and my steering wheel light is on as will.

I was driving my car down at residential area and it came to a complete stop on its own I could not get it to accelerate it all I had to get out of my car pop the hood disconnect the battery and then I was able to put in a drive and accelerate all the lights are flashing on the control panel I had no control over my car whatsoever I took it into Tracy Volkswagen and they said they couldn't diagnose it because it wasn't connecting to my computer in my car. Tracy said the control module for the ABS didn't work and they couldn't replace it for me until the headquarters approved it or something about the recall didn't include the control module I can't afford to fix this it's all ABS connected that's what the safety call is for safety.

A recall was issued for the ABS software upgrade which my car was updated in 2017. That is within the 10 year timeframe. Since then, my abs light has went on and off. We kept resetting as advised by Sisk Automotive in Hopkinsville, Ky (not a VW dealer). Wyatt Johnson in Clarksville, Tn completed the recall in 2017. In Feb 2022, the abs has failed creating ECP fault and almost every light on the dash is now on. I believe the abs should have been replaced in 2017 and the dealer just put a quick fix to say the recall was complete. I need help fixing my unsafe car that VW failed to fix in the original recall.

My car been fine and went to take my daughter to school and shut the car off and get back in to go home and wouldn't start and the Abs light came on and Check Engine light as well. I am concerned because I think since I have done the ABS no longer then 2 years. I feel like there is a problem and dont think VW fix it the first time when I took it in.. My fiance had a terrible accident 12 month ago and no income and I dont know how we are going to fix it if we have too thats what I am worried about as well.. Thank you, Dawn

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS CORRECTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND WAS SHAKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPM WAS FLUCTUATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CHECK ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND EPC WARNING LIGHTS WERE ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY FOR A WHILE BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HANSEL VOLKSWAGEN (2951 CORBY AVE, SANTA ROSA, CA 95407) AND WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO UPDATE THE ABS SOFTWARE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ABS MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED INTERNALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

WHEN I ARRIVED HOME U WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION. AFTER A LOT OF WORK I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY GET IT TURNED OFF BUT NOW OT WILL NOT GO FURTHER THAN THE ACCESSORY SETTING. AFTER READING COUNTLESS FORUMS ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.

MY KEY GOT STUCK IN MY IGNITION ON THANKSGIVING, I COULD NOT GO TO MY 2ND JOB ON BLACK FRIDAY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAD TO QUIT MY JOB. I WENT TO VW PUENTE HILLS IN CA AND THEY MADE ME PAY FOR A NEW CYLINDER THAT COST ALMOST $900. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CYLINDER ISSUE. A WEEK LATER MY KEY GOT STUCK AGAIN, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A KEY ISSUE AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE KEY, THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING ORDER A NEW CYLINDER AND HAVE IT REPLACED. IT'S BEEN ALMOST 2 MONTHS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE REAL ISSUE. THEY CALLED ME AGAIN TODAY SAYING THAT IT IS NOT THE CYLINDER ISSUE, IT IS THE MODULE, NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR A NEW KEY AND A NEW MODULE! THE SAID THE MODULE WOULD COST AROUND $400. AND MIND YOU, I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE KEY! I ALSO JUST PAID FOR A NEW CYLINDER! I AM BEING RIPPED OFF AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF. I WOULD LIKE A REFUND FOR THIS AND FOR PUENTE HILLS VOLKSWAGEN REPORTED FOR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.

HAD DROVE THE CAR LITTLE WHILE, THEN MADE A STOP, CRANKED THE CAR TO LEAVE AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS LOW ON OIL, THAT KIND OF. TAPPING SOUND. OIL WAS FINE. BUT THE SOUND STILL THERE THE NEXT DAY. AFTER DRIVING IT A MILE OR TWO. IT GOT LOUDER, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AT THE CLOSEST PART STORE ABOUT 5 MIN AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON. THEY CHECKED IT WITH THE SCANNER. SAID IT WAS A KNOCK SENSOR CODE. P0328, BANK 1.TOOK IT TO VW. TO GET A DIAGNOSITS DONE. AND THE MAN SAID IT WAS DUE TO A RECALL. THE PROBLEM I WAS HEARING, AND THE CODE. WAS FROM THE RECALLED PART. THEY CHANGED THAT PART. SAID IT WAS A FUSE PANEL ON ENGINE BLOCK. THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THE SAME. THEN, HE SAID IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE RECALL. AND I STILL HAD TO PAY THE 120 DOLLAR FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. AND SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO OPEN THE ENGINE TO CHECK ANY FURTHER, AND THAT THE LABOR WOULD BE ABOUT 2000 DOLLARS. I HAD TOOK IT BY VW BEFORE IT STARTED TO HAVE ANY NOTICEABLE PROBLEMS.WHEN I HAD HAPPENED TO LOOK UP RECALLS ONLINE. THE MAN LOOKED IT UP BY MY VIN. TOLD ME THERE WERE 3 ACTIVE RECALLS. BUT IT WOULD BE ANOTHER WEEK BEFORE THEY COULD GET TO IT. I ASKED IF IT WOULD BE OK TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT, WAS ANY OF THEM SERIOUS ENOUGH TO NOT. HE TOLD ME , NO, THAT IT WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTIFICATION YEARS AGO AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. I HAD MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY CAR LOOKED AT BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS BEEN ON FOR WEEKS. IT HASN'T TURNED OFF. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN THEY TRIED TO PERFORM A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT WEREN'T ABLE TO BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE MODULE WENT OUT BEFORE THE RECALL. I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS UNTIL JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE. NOW THEY ARE SAYING ITS TECHNICALLY MY FAULT AND NOW IM STUCK PAYING 1200 ON AN ABS MODULE AND MAINTENANCE. MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON WENT I WENT AROUND A CORNER AND SLAMMED ON MY BREAKS, EVER SINCE THEN IT WONT TURN OFF.

MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT HOME. I TRIED TO START MY VEHICLE; WHICH IT DID BUT ONCE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I TRIED FOR 3 HOURS TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE ONLY OPPOSTION I HAD WAS TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP AT NIGHT; SO THAT THE CAR WOULD BE SAFE. I TOOK THE FUSE OUT AT AND DETACHED THE BATTERY PLUG TURNING OFF THE CAR, BUT I HAD TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE A WEEK EARLIER AND WILL HAVE TO PAY 800.00 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A VEHICLE NOT CUTTING OFF EVER AND THIS IS A TERRIBLE DEFECT TO ANY VOLKSWAGEN OWNER TO HAVE TO ENDURE SUCH A PROBLEM WITH A VEHICLE. I NORMALLY PURCHASE HONDA DUE TO THE DEPENDABILITY, BUT I TOLD MY HUSBAND I ALWAYS WANTED TO DRIVE A VOLKSWAGEN. IM NOW SORRY THAT I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. THAT DEFECT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO ANYONE OWNING THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN HE SHOP, WHICH I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PART TO COME FROM GERMANY. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR AUTO REPAIR SHOP OVER 5X OVER THE TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR BECAUSE THE 'ENGINE MALFUNCTION' LIGHT WAS GOING ON/OFF INTERMITTENTLY - ON FOR 3 HOURS THEN OFF, ON FOR 2 DAYS, OFF. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS PERMANENTLY ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD DESPITE MULTIPLE ENGINE AUTO REPAIR SERVICES RENDERED. 2. THE ABS AND EPS/ASR SYMBOLS ILLUMINATE AND ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY WITHOUT REASON WHILE I AM DRIVING 50-65MPH ON MAJOR NYC HIGHWAYS AND/OR WHEN IM DRIVING 15-35 ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE EPS/ASR FLASHES CONTINUOUSLY WHILE SOUNDING AN ALARM FOR 60 SECONDS OR SO, ABS REMAINS CONSTANT LIT AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL I AM ABLE TO STOP, TURN OF THE ENGINE, WAIT A MINUTE, AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. ON HIGHWAY I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE WITH EMERGENCY LIGHTS FLASHING. 3. I WAS PULLED OVER BY A COP AT NIGHT BECAUSE ONE OF MY TAIL LIGHTS WAS OUT. I HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS THE CASE AND WOULD HAVE NEVER FOUND OUT BECAUSE THE "LIGHT BULB!" WARNING WAS NOT ON, AND NEVER CAME ON. I GOT IT FIXED 2 DAYS LATER, STILL NO LIGHT BULB SIGNAL, MY RIGHT TAILLIGHT WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE "LIGHT BULB!" ICON ILLUMINATED, I TESTED AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE WORKING- BUT THE 'LIGHTBULB!' REMAINED LIT. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE LIGHTBULB WAS OFF. 4. THE AUX FEATURE ON MY CAR IS NO LONGER ACCESSIBLE. REPAIR SHOP BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX BECAUSE VW SPECIALITY CODE/ SYSTEM PROGRAMMING? 5. I HAVE NOTICED IT TAKES MORE EFFORT TO ENGAGE MY BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD MY CAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT LEAST 2X OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS (I HAVE DRIVEN ABOUT 20K MILES). ALSO NOTE - NO SYMBOL OF EMERGENCY BRAKE/ MECHANIC MAINTENANCE / WORN BRAKE PADS/ AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION/GEARBOX SYMBOL WERE ILLUMINATED DURING THIS EVENT (IN FEBRUARY 2018) AND NONE OF THESE SYMBOLS HAD ILLUMINATED TO THIS DAY (APRIL 2018).

STARTED WITH KEY BEING VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN ON OR OFF IN IGNITION AND THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK NO LONGER ENGAGED AT ALL WHEN THE CAR WAS OFF. THEN, TWICE WITHIN 1 MILE, THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK DID ENGAGE WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING OPERATED IN A TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER PARKING THE CAR IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO THE OFF POSITION UNTIL THE EXPOSED END OF THE KEY WAS TAPPED WITH A HAMMER. STEERING COLUMN LOCK THEN APPEARED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK APPROPRIATELY, HOWEVER, KEY WILL NO LONGER TURN IN THE IGNITION TO THE START POSITION. CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM OF AN "INOPERABLE STEERING COLUMN LOCK" AND IS PERFORMING THE NEEDED REPAIR.

IN APRIL OF 2016 CAR JUST HAD 6 INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASH. JUST HAPPENED ONE DAY ON THE HIGHWAY. SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE NONE OF THE DASH WORKED. RED LIGHT CONSTANT FLASHING. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO PARK IT FOR 6 MONTHS WHILE STILL PAYING 300 A MONTH CAR PAYMENT AND FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE UNTIL I HAD MONEY TO FIX IT. AROUND THE SAME TIME THE BACK PASSENGER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING AND STILL DOESN'T WORK. I GOT THIS CAR IN MARCH OF 2015 I BELIEVE. IT HAS COST ME SO MUCH MONEY AND I AM HOPING THAT I MAY BE ABLE TO GET A REIMBURSEMENT ON THE 800 I SPENT TO FIX IT, ONLY TO HAVE IT DO THIS STUFF RANDOMLY EVERY FEW MONTHS. JUST 2 WEEKS AGO I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES WHILE DRIVING AND THERE WAS A BANG SOUND AND I DROVE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY IT DROVE TO WORK OK AND THEN ON WAY HOME WHEN IT STARTED IT IMMEDIATELY WAS RUNNING BADLY AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ALL THAT WAS ON AGAIN. WE TOOK IT TO MECHANIC AND HE SAID THERMOSTAT WAS STUCK OPEN AND IT DID NEED A COIL AND WIRES OR SOMETHING ALSO. IT HAS BEEN JUST CONSTANT WITH THIS CAR AND I AM SPENDING A TON OF MONEY. IT'S REALLY DIFFICULT RAISING A FAMILY AND WORKING 30 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME AND DEALING WITH THIS CONSTANTLY. OH, AND THE AIR CONDITIONER ONLY WORKS IN THE WINTER TIME. DEFINATELY NOT WHEN IDLELING. MECHANIC SAYS THAT'S A 400$ PART SO I'M JUST TRYING TO SCROUNGE UP THE MONEY TO FIX THAT PART OF THE ELECTRIC DISASTER THIS CAR IS BEFORE IT HITS 101 ON MY DAYS SITTING IN TRAFFIC. PLEASE HELP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. WHITE ALLEN VOLKSWAGEN WAS CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO PERFORM THE REPAIR DUE TO THE ABS MODULE BEING DEFECTIVE, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE RECALL COULD BE PERFORMED. TAKATA RECALL. IN FEBRUARY OF 2017 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS ACCOMPANIED BY A SERIES OF 3 BEEPS. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE MORE LIGHTS CAME ON AND MY DASH BOARD LOOKED LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE EX. AIRBAG, OIL, CHECK ENGINE, ABS, EPC, BRAKE LIGHT, ETC. WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY MY GAUGES WILL SHUT OFF AND I CAN NOT SEE HOW FAST I AM GOING, MY CAR WILL DECELERATE WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS AT RANDOM TIMES ON THE HIGH WAY. I LOOK MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR TO CARS AUTO IN LAS VEGAS BECAUSE MY CAR COULD NOT PASS SMOG. THEY DID AN ANALYSIS AND INFORMED ME THAT MY ABS MODULE WAS SHOT AND THERE WAS AN ACTIVE RECALL FOR THE DEVICE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP AND THOUGHT WITH MY SAFETY IN CONCERN THAT THIS WOULD BE A SIMPLE FIX. INSTEAD, THEY INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD NEED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND COME BACK ANOTHER DAY BUT I REFUSED TO DRIVE MY CAR OFF THE LOT. THEY TOOK MY CAR TO THE BACK AND SAID THAT MY ABS MODULE WAS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE COMPUTER AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO PAY $700 TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC DONE BEFORE THEY WOULD REPLACE MY ABS. IF THE ABS IS FAULTY AS EXPLAINED IN RECALL #16V913 UNDER VW ACTION 45F2 IF THE ABS FAILS TO PASS THE TEST THEN IT WILL BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THEY SEEM TO NOT BE COMPLYING AND GIVING ME THE RUN AROUND.

THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE SINCE THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONS AND IN THE SNOW THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO HANDLE WORSE THAN USUAL AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM DOES NOT KICK IN EVERY TIME. I PULLED OVER ON A SIDE STREET TO TEST THE BRAKES AND IT SEEMED TO BRAKE "NORMAL" WITHOUT ENGAGING THE ABS. IT SEEM LIKE THE CAR OPERATES WITHOUT ABS, STABILITY CONTROL, THE SPEEDOMETER, AND FUEL GAUGE.

WE WENT TO REPLACE A KEY AND REMOTE ON THIS CAR AND WHEN THEY WENT TO "PROGRAM" IT THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO AS BOTH THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR AND REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ACTUATOR WERE BOTH NON RESPONSIVE AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AS A CONSEQUENCE, WE LEARNED THAT THE CAR CANNOT ACTUALLY BE LOCKED USING THE REMOTE. WE UNDERSTAND THAT SOMETIMES THIS GETS WORSE OVER TIME AND OTHER ASPECTS OF THE LOCK GO BAD -- YOU CAN'T OPEN THE TRUNK, THE REAR DOOR, ETC. NOT BEING ABLE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK YOUR DOORS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE AND ONE THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO FIX IN ORDER TO USE THE CAR. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE FIXED THEIR OWN CARS AND VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT WON'T PROVIDE THE PART AT A DECENT PRICE. THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR IS $233.20 FOR THE FRONT DOOR AND $238.70 FOR THE REAR DOOR. AND THE LABOR IS $150 FOR EACH (INVOLVES FULLY REMOVING BOTH DOOR PANELS ETC.). THE GRAND TOTAL THE DEALERSHIP IS ASKING FOR THE REPAIR IS $833. AND THIS IS ONLY FOR 2 DOORS THAT HAVE FAILED. WE ARE ASKING THAT THE NHTSA LOOK INTO HOW MANY OF THESE ARE FAILING IN CARS UNDER 10 YEARS OLD AND LOOKING INTO WHETHER VOLKSWAGEN IS INVOLVED IN A COVER UP OF THE FAULTINESS OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS. THEY WILL NOT TELL CONSUMERS HOW MANY OF THESE FAIL OR HOW MANY THEY REPLACE. PEOPLE WHO WORK ON THEIR OWN CARS ARE REPAIRING THE PARTS THEMSELVES AND THE BLOGS ARE SAYING THAT IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CONTACTS INSIDE THE ACTUATOR FAILING AND NEEDING TO BE RESOLDERED.

I HAD TO MANUALLY LOCK IT FROM THE SIDE, AND NOW IT STAYS LOCKED ALL THE TIME UNLESS I PULL THE INSIDE LEVER. THEN, AN YEAR LATER, THE OTHER (LEFT) PASSENGER SIDE STARTED NEVER LOCKING TOO, AND MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DRIVER DOOR WITH THE KEY. THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR STILL WORKS FINE, AS DO ALL THE ALARMS. THE DEALER SAYS IT WILL COST ME $1400 TO FIX.

I REFUSE TO TAKE CAR TO VW DEALER BECAUSE I ALREADY HAVE ISSUES WITH THEM ABOUT THE ERC VALVE AND DIESEL FUEL PARTICULATE FILTER (ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY STAYS ON) BEING 1 OF THE ISSUES VW HAS ADMITTED BEING FAULTY BUT STILL NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. TO GET THE ABS FIXED IT'S GOING TO BE OVER $2500 AND THE HAVE THE ERC & DIESEL FUEL PARTICULATE FILTER FIXED IS OVER $3000. EACH OF THESE ITEMS ARE FAULTY AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE DEALER WITH A CENT PAID FROM MY POCKET. BOTH ARE LIFE THREATENING FAULTS THAT EVENTUALLY COULD LEAD TO MY DEATH OR DEATHS OF OTHERS. THAT GOES IN A RELAY SLOT (R2) THAT SENDS POWER TO A 50 AMP FUSE (SB27), THAT SENDS POWER TO THE "GLOW PLUG CONTROL MODULE" (J179) THAT SENDS POWER TO THE GLOW PLUGS WHEN THE ENGINE IS BELOW 18 DEGREES C, ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO START WHEN COLD (AND WITHOUT SMOKING). ***THE PROBLEM IS THAT THERE IS NO LEGEND PROVIDED FOR THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX, SO NO WAY TO KNOW IF SOMETHING IS MISSING. ON JUNE 27, 2014 WE HAD WITH AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WHERE THE BATTERY WAS DRAINING FROM A SHORT IN THE RADIO MODULATOR. THE CAR HAD 101,348 MILES. THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WHICH TOOK 9 DAYS TO FIX AND COST $1238.56. I NOTICED THE RADIO WOULD STAYED ON WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE CAR AFTER THAT THOUGH. THEN WE HAD THE CHECK ENGINE, AIR BAG, ABS AND TRACTION LIGHTS ON AT 109,452. I TOOK IT TO MY SERVICE STATION ON 11/28/2014, BUT HE SAID THE DEALER HAD TO PROGRAM UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND CHECK THE ABS MODULE FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE O2 SENSOR ON NUMBER 2 CYLINDER. THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAG, ABS MODULE OR TRACTION CONTROL. THEY CHARGED ME $600. THE LIGHTS WERE ALL OFF. ON JANUARY 3, MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND HER GIRLFRIEND WENT TO THE MOVIES LAST NIGHT WITH THE CAR. IT WAS LIGHTLY RAINING OUT. SHE LEFT THE MOVIE THEATRE AROUND 8:20 PM. DEALER IS NOT ABLE TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE UNTIL 10/27/14 AND CANNOT PROVIDE A LOANER CAR SINCE VOLKSWAGEN WON'T REIMBURSE THEM FOR THAT COST. CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPOKE WITH DOUG, ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY COULD NOT AUTHORIZE RENTAL CAR REIMBURSEMENT, AND I WOULD NEED TO EITHER SHOULDER THAT EXPENSE MYSELF OR CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR IN IT'S CURRENT STATE. IN FACT, THE CAR WORKS PERFECTLY, BUT IT CONCERNS ME A LOT THAT WE HAVE A CAR THAT CAN STALL FROM NOTHING. I AM AWARE THAT NTHSA HAVE RECEIVED A LOT OF COMPLAINS ABOUT THESE EVENTS, AND I AM PRETTY SURE THAT VW KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT IT DOES MAKE ME WORRY, WHEN NOBODY DOES NOTHING ABOUT THAT SITUATION. WHAT DO THEY WANT HAPPEN? A EVENT THAT CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WITH FATAL VICTIMS?. 2009 VW JETTA. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH ENGINE LINE *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. *JB

FROM THE FIRST WEEK I OWNED THIS BRAND NEW JETTA TDI SPORTSWAGON (WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION) IT WOULD PERIODICALLY "FAULTER" OR MOMENTARILY LOSE POWER AT ABOUT 38 MPH. I DRIVE QUITE A BIT AND THE PROBLEM WOULD OCCUR RANDOMLY, PERHAPS EVERY OTHER DAY. I'VE YET TO BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM BY RECREATING THE DRIVING CONDITIONS, BUT IT ALWAYS HAPPENS AT THE SAME SPEED, RIGHT AFTER UPSHIFTING. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY AND THEY CHECKED IT OUT WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN FOR IT'S FIRST SERVICE APPOINTMENT. AS EXPECTED, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AFTER A SHORT TEST DRIVE. THIS VEHICLE NOW HAS OVER 45,000 MILES AND THE FAULTERING CONTINUES TO OCCUR EVERY FEW DAYS.

CAR HAD BEEN OPERATING NORMALLY ALL SERVICE PERFORMED AND NO NOTIFICATION FROM DEALERSHIP. ON 10/26/2010 WAS DRIVING AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT ON ALHAMBRA BLVD IN PLEASANT HILL/MARTINEZ CA. WAS COMING DOWN SLIGHT HILL AND TOUCHED ACCELERATOR TO CLIMB SLIGHT GRAD WHEN THE ENGINE JUST STALLED AND SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO WARNING. CAR COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THERE WAS A SMALL NOISE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A SHUTTER AS THE MECHANICAL POWER STEERING FAILED WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED. THE CAR WAS PUT ON A FLAT BED BY MARTINEZ PD AND TAKEN TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE NOTHING WAS DONE EXCEPT CALL THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP, DORITO BRO IN WALNUT CREEK CA, REQUIRED THE CAR BE FLAT BEDDED TO THEM. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SHIP ON 10/27/2010 THE DEALERSHIP THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE BATTERY WAS SHOT AND THEY COULD NOT EVEN TROUBLE SHOOT THE PROBLEM WITH OUT A REPLACEMENT BATTERY. THERE HAD BEEN NO BATTERY FAILURE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT TELL WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. ON 10/28/2010 THEY BELIEVED IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP. THE PUMP WAS REPLACED ON 11/1/2010 AND THE CAR COULD STILL NOT BE STARTED. THE DEALERSHIP AS OF 11/2/2010 HAS OPENED UP ANOTHER TECH TICKET TO TRY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. 11/3/2010 WAS INFORMED BY DEALERSHIP THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED NEW BOLTS BECAUSE THE OLD BOLTS CAN NOT BE REUSED DUE TO THE SENSITIVE NATURE OF THE TDI MOTOR. I ASKED IF THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND CONTAMINATED THE ENGINE DEALERSHIP SAID NO. *TR

SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, CAR BEGAN TO FILL WITH WATER. NOT DIRECTLY FROM THE SUN ROOF BUT FROM A DISCONNECTED OR DAMAGED DRAIN HOSE. CAUSING SERIOUS MOLD & ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. VW HAS RELUCTANTLY LOOKED INTO THE PROBLEM, REPLACED PARTS, BUT ONLY MADE IT WORSE. AND THE CAR IS NOW UNDRIVABLE. *TR

2009 AND POSSIBLY 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM STOPPED WORKING WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED AND ONLY RESTARTED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. UPDATED 02-26-2010. *BF UPDATED IVOQ 06/01/10 VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER 4 TIMES FOR CORRECTIVE ACTION AND SYSTEM IS NOT REPAIRED. DEALER TOLD ME THAT VW ENGINEERING STATED THAT THIS IS PROPER OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM AND NO REPAIRS ARE NEEDED. DEALERS EMPLOYEES ARE AWARE OF THE SAFETY HAZARD ASSOCIATED WITH LACK OF PROPER OPERATION AND STATE THAT THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS NOT IN PROPER WORKING ORDER. *TR
