I received a letter stating there was a ABS Control module Software. My abs lights came on. I took it to Volkswagen to have them do the recall. They said it’s the ABs control module and pump and it isn’t part of the recall. So they didn’t do any part of the recall, they just closed out the recall and she said it’s a Volkswagen problem. This was the Volkswagen service department that said this. My daughter almost wrecked the day this happened because it was raining. She is 16.

I got the car off of some guy for 1600 dollars and I put a lot of money into and I have lights on the dash still on and the ecs is one and my steering wheel light is on as will.

ABS Module Assembly all packet, It turns that this kind of vehicles are controling the power Steering, anti skid braking system, brake lights, ABS, Skid lights come ON and the Steering also come ON it is scanned and remove the codes once and seemed to work for a day or two and down again, goes back to scan and now me and the mechanic test drive it together and found that the Main ABS modulator is not connecting and goes on and of the scanner where it carries a faulty communication among its components and causing all this disconfort? problem herein is that it is hard to tell when will it do it again or why is it failing? and causing all kind of problem with lgihts blinking all the time? but the biggest problem here is: that I am not the only one complaning about it, there is many people complaning about the problem! more that I expected, and seems like they do not know about making a report it is exact same problem! and reason they are not fixing it is: becasue it is to costly, It runs an apparent $2,000.00 dollars to get parts and labor? this is indeed a recall issue that must be absorbed by manufacturer.Please help us get it done I stopped the car since it acted with all this lights september is when I started to feel the disconfort but November when I had all set of lights come ON where as I mentioned, we clear the codes, "Mechanic" and runs for few days and back again. Nope there has not been a crash and I hope I don not get in one I rather stop vehicle especialy on this winter driving conditions

This vehicle was purchased 11/2016 from a dealer/mechanic. He bought it at auction, reconstructed it and got the approvals to return it to full operation from the Massachusetts DOT. The title showed 'reconstructed' and 'prior collision'. Volkswagen notified us of Safety Recal 45F2 in 2017 - ABS control module - and we had the recall performed at Colonial VW in Westborough Mass in 2017. There is an extended warranty VWP-17-03 on vehicles repaired by Safety Recall 45F2. The car's ABS light illuminated and the dealership ran a diagnostic which ran code 16352 - control module faulty static. VW is telling the dealership that they will not honor the warranty because the car is a total loss. It is NOT a total loss, it has not been in an accident since it was reconstructed before we purchased it six years ago. I called VW and they said they won't cover it because it's a mechanical issue not a software issue but that's also not true. I see technical bulletin's online that say if Fault Code 01130 and or 16352 appear that warranty should apply, but they are not honoring their own warranty

I was driving my car down at residential area and it came to a complete stop on its own I could not get it to accelerate it all I had to get out of my car pop the hood disconnect the battery and then I was able to put in a drive and accelerate all the lights are flashing on the control panel I had no control over my car whatsoever I took it into Tracy Volkswagen and they said they couldn't diagnose it because it wasn't connecting to my computer in my car. Tracy said the control module for the ABS didn't work and they couldn't replace it for me until the headquarters approved it or something about the recall didn't include the control module I can't afford to fix this it's all ABS connected that's what the safety call is for safety.

A recall was issued for the ABS software upgrade which my car was updated in 2017. That is within the 10 year timeframe. Since then, my abs light has went on and off. We kept resetting as advised by Sisk Automotive in Hopkinsville, Ky (not a VW dealer). Wyatt Johnson in Clarksville, Tn completed the recall in 2017. In Feb 2022, the abs has failed creating ECP fault and almost every light on the dash is now on. I believe the abs should have been replaced in 2017 and the dealer just put a quick fix to say the recall was complete. I need help fixing my unsafe car that VW failed to fix in the original recall.

A recall for ABS module for my car was issued, the dealer performed a software update but the unit has since failed in wet conditions and is unsafe and needs to be replaced but my understanding is that the software update fulfills there obligation to the recall. I do not think the software is sufficient as it has still failed

As I was coming to an immediate stop, due to a deer jumping out in front of me, the car/ brake pedal shuddered and I had to perform an emergency braking procedure by swerving onto the shoulder of the road. Thankfully no one was injured, including the deer, however, my nerves were frayed, as had this been in the snow or any other adverse conditions, what would have been the outcome then? Immediately after this happened the ABS light and flashing brake light appeared on the dash. I have used a scan tool to diagnose the issue to which the code #01130 (ABS Operation Implausible Signal). Through research online- forums it has come to my attention that this is a very common VW issue to the point that the NHTSA has requested/ mandated that a recall should be issued- www.automotive-fleet.com (January 7, 2017). When I went to the VW recall site and plugged in my VIN no recalls were listed?? I will be taking my car to the dealer tomorrow, as I am a one car household and need my '09 Sportwagen for daily transportation to and from work, I am hoping that they will honor the replacement of this faulty safety device.

Update to recently filed incident report over brake system warnings in VW Jetta: VW Service has now replaced ABS module at cost to me of Approx. $2200. The car had been subject to a recall in 2017 for "45F2 - ABS Control Module Software" and update was performed in April 2017 at no cost. But the recent trouble was also ABS-related:. VW of Kingston service stated: "16352 Fault for ABS Control Module faulty - Not related to recall that was done in 2017." I wish to challenge the conclusion that the 2 ABS incidents were unrelated. Additionally, a 2012 incident should be considered in which the vehicle's engine suddenly stopped on highway and could not be restarted. VW said problem was "Car will not start. Cause: No comm to TCM, ECM, Brake Control Unit, J500, J234. Convenience System, and TPMS System. 97105550 Vehicle Elect system ECM replace. . . Remove reinstall." I submit that the 3 incidents in 2014, 2017 and 2021 involving in some way the brake control units are related and should all have been subject to warranty as safety defects.

The contact's friend owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while his friend was driving 50 mph three days after purchasing the vehicle, the ABS, brake and ETC warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that his friend continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that his friend was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired; however, the warning lights remained illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V913000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control) could not be completed on the vehicle until the issues indicated by the warning lights were repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed the assessment by the dealer. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

I HAVE LOOKED AND THEY TELL ME THERE NO RECALLS. I AM WONDERING IF THE ABS MODULER HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WIRH THE BRAKES. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN A DEER CAME INTO THE ROAD FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. I SEEN THE DEER AND SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO MISS IT AND COME TO A STOP. I REMOVED THE CAR FROM 5TH GEAR WHILE USING BOTH THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PADS. ONCE I APPLIED SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THE COMPLETELY LOCKED UP, AS DID THE STEERING WHEEL. MY CAR COLLIDED WITH THE DEER AND SUBSEQUENTLY TRAVELED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A SPIN, STOPPING APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD NO LUCK KEEPING THE VEHICLE RUNNING. I HAVE HAD THE ALTERNATOR, PLUGS AND COIL PACKS, STARTER, AND IGNITION CHANGED WITH NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HANSEL VOLKSWAGEN (2951 CORBY AVE, SANTA ROSA, CA 95407) AND WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO UPDATE THE ABS SOFTWARE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ABS MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED INTERNALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE ABS RECALL IN 2017. DEALER DIDN'T REPLACE THE MODULE AT THE TIME, STATING THAT THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, WHICH WOULD DETECT THE FAILURE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. CUSTOMER WAS TOLD THAT IF THE ABS LIGHT CAME UP, JUST RETURNED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE MODULE FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN THE SAID LIGHT CAME UP AFTER A FEW THOUSAND MILES, CUSTOMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER. DEALER INDICATED THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND ORDERED THE MODULE FOR REPLACEMENT. CUSTOMER WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE LOCALLY WHILE WAITING FOR A MONTH FOR AN APPOINTMENT. CUSTOMER WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS FREE MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL AFTER THE LONG WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND HOURS OF WAITING DURING THE ACTUAL SERVICE, WHEN 'NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE' BECAUSE IT WAS NOT FREE. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE ERROR CODE IN THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES ON A PIECE OF PAPER THAT THEY HAD FOR THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE LOTS OF BAD MODULES THAT CANNOT BE UPDATED. THIS IS A HAZARD CONDITION; ESPECIALLY HERE IN MICHIGAN.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY CAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE ABS MODULE REPLACEMENT CLAIM BUT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT AS I DRIVE THE CAR. THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ARE ALL ON AND FLASHING WITH A BEEP THAT IS CONSISTENT ONCE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND IT'S A VERY DISTRACTING SOUND THAT I WISH I COULD FIX MYSELF BUT EVEN THE PART COSTS $600+ AND TO GO TO THE DEALER AND GET IT FIXED FOR $1800. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN A REASON WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE FIX.

I JUST BOUGHT THIS 2009 VOLKSAWAGEN JETTA THIS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH 2019, THE CAR HAS A NONSTOP BEEPING NOISE AS SOON AS THE KEY GOES IN THE IGNITION (NOT THE OPEN DOOR BEEP EITHER) AND THE ABS, BRAKE, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ARE ON IN THE DASHBOARD. ABS MODULE RECALL FOR 2009 VOLKSWAGEN MODELS AFFECTED NEEDS TO BE REVISED, FOR THERE ARE LOTS OF CARS THAT SUFFER FROM ABS MODULES FAILING WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING. SOME CARS WHICH ARE ILLEGIBLE ARE LEFT UNFIXED BY VOLKSWAGEN BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FIT THE SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE RECALL. THE COMPANY SHIPPED CARS OUT WITH FAULTY ABS MODULES AND REFUSE TO FIX IT AND THOSE CARS ARE HAZARDOUS ON THE ROAD. MY VEHICLE, FOR EXAMPLE, HAS ABS MODULE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE IT SHOULD BE STAYING ON. DURING A DIAGNOSIS THE ECU SENSES NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN IT AND THE ABS MODULE, WHICH IS A HAZARD KNOWING MY ABS WILL NOT ALWAYS FUNCTION WHEN I NEED IT TO STOP QUICKER IN RESPONSE TO THE MANY OBSTACLES ON THE ROAD. ABS VW JETTA RECALL. MY 2009 VW IS CURRENTLY UNDER A SAFETY RECALL FOR ABS SYSTEM FAILURES. THE ABS SYSTEM ON MY CAR HAS IN FACT FAILED, YET THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO COMPLETE THE RECALL BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS IN FAILURE AND THEY CLAIM THAT THE SOFTWARE CANNOT BE UPDATED TO SEE IF THE SYSTEM IS FAILING. THE DEALER INSTRUCTED ME TO REPLACE THE ABS SYSTEM IN MY CAR (AT MY OWN COST) SO THEY CAN COMPLETE THE SOFTWARE CHECK. THE ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR WAS $2900. I REFUSED AS THE PART IN QUESTION IS UNDER RECALL. THEY CLAIM THE RECALL DOES NOT COVER MY FAILED ABS SYSTEM. I BELIEVE VOLKSWAGEN IS ABDICATING THEIR SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM AND FAILED PART IN THEIR CARS. IN A CURSORY REVIEW ONLINE THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS TO BE FOUND ONLINE. I HOPE THAT THE NTSB IS REVIEWING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND WILL COMPEL VW TO MAKE THE MECHANICAL REPAIRS TO THE ABS SYSTEMS NECESSARY, NOT JUST CHECK THE SOFTWARE.

I WAS ON SNOW AND BRAKED HARD TO TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY, AS I WAS SLIDING A BIT. I HEARD A POP AND THE SKID, BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON WITH A DINGING ALARM. MY BRAKES STILL SEEMED TO WORK. I TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE IT CHECKED AND WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE ABS MODULE WAS BAD ACCORDING TO HIS SCANNER. IT WAS BELOW FREEZING AT THE TIME, SO MY MECHANIC TOLD ME TO WAIT FOR THE WEATHER TO WARM UP, AND HOPEFULLY SOMETHING WAS JUST FROZEN. HE SAID THAT IT INDICATED A GROUND WIRE WAS A PROBLEM TO THE ABS MODULE AND MAYBE IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF FIXING THAT, OR THE MODULE WAS BAD. I LOOKED UP THAT THE 2009 JETTAS HAD A PROBLEM AND RECALL ON THE ABS MODULES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, WHO UPDATED SOFTWARE, BUT SAID MINE DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR REPLACEMENT UNDER THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW, IF MY MODULE IS BAD AND A GROUND WIRE IS INVOLVED HOW THE RECALL IS NOT VALID.

THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED ON AUGUST 17, 2018 - MULTIPLE CONTROL PANEL LIGHTS WERE ACTIVATED AND STILL REMAIN ACTIVATED. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE ABS CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE ' VW CODE 45F2. 'CORRECTIVE ACTION' PORTION OF THE RECALL NOTICE: 'UPDATE THE ABS CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE WITH IMPROVED DIAGNOSTIC CAPABILITY TO DETECT INSUFFICIENT PCU GROUND CONNECTION. ABS MODULES WITH INSUFFICIENT GROUND CONNECTIONS WILL BE REPLACED.' TOOK THE CAR TO VW OF INVER GROVE HEIGHTS. THEY SAID THEY INSTALLED THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE BUT SINCE THE ABS SYSTEM HAD ALREADY FAILED THEY COULD DO NOTHING MORE WITHOUT ME PAYING TO HAVE THE ABS MODULE AND PUMP REPLACED ' APPROXIMATELY $2,300. VW CARE'S ERIC WALDOWSKI, WHO SAID HE WAS THE ASSISTANT TO THE CEO AT VW, SAID THIS TO ME: 'IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE I WILL NOT STAND BEHIND OUR PRODUCT OR OUR ENGINEERS. WE WILL NOT REPLACE THE MODULE SINCE THE CAR WAS NOT BROUGHT IN FOR THE SOFTWARE UPDATE PRIOR TO THE FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM. WE ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO REPAIR THIS ABS SYSTEM THEREFORE WE WILL NOT.' I DID NOT OWN THE CAR WHEN THE RECALL WAS SENT OUT IN MARCH, 2017. ACCORDING TO THE CARFAX I RECEIVED, THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO VW OF INVER GROVE HEIGHTS FOR "SERVICE" JULY 18, 2017 - WHILE THE RECALL WAS AVAILABLE. I BELIEVE THAT VW OF INVER GROVE HEIGHTS SHOULD HAVE FIXED THE ABS SOFTWARE ACCORDING TO THE RECALL AT THAT TIME. ERIC WALDOWSKI CALLED ME TODAY AND SAID THAT THE "SERVICE" THAT WAS COMPLETED ON JULY 18, 2017 WAS "BODY WORK" AND IT WAS SUBLET TO ANOTHER PROVIDER. THUS, VW OF INVER GROVE HEIGHTS WAS UNDER NO OBLIGATION TO ALERT THE OWNER TO THE RECALL AND/OR FIX IT AT THAT TIME. MY CONTENTION IS THAT VW SHOULD HONOR THE RECALL NOTICE AND REPLACE THE ABS MODULE AT THEIR COST FOR TWO REASONS - FAILURE OF ABS AND WAS IN SHOP.

THE VEHICLE WAS FINE, INSPECTED 8/10/18, ONE MONTH LATER MY 16 YEAR OLD WAS DRIVING TO SCHOOL AND THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS FLASHING, AND THERE WAS A CONSTANT BEEPING ALARM WHILE DRIVING.

ABS MODULE RECALL I HAVE AN INCOMPLETE RECALL THAT VOLKSWAGEN IS NOT TRYING TO FIX. THEY ARE SAYING THAT THEY ARE NOT GETTING A CONNECTION TO BE ABLE TO READ THE RECALL AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE NEW ABS MODULE SO THAT THEY COULD DO AN UPDATE ON THE NEW MODULE. WHEN IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE RECALL THAT ABS MODULES WITH AN INSUFFICIENT GROUND CONNECTION WOULD BE REPLACED. VOLKSWAGEN HAS DONE NOTHING BUT SAY THEY CAN'T GET THE CODE TO SHOW FOR THEM TO PERFORM THE RECALL. I UNDERSTAND WHY VOLKSWAGEN HAS THE MOST COMPLAINTS BECAUSE EVEN IF IT'S SOMETHING THEY ARE REQUIRED TO FIX THEY WILL TRY TO WEASEL THEIR WAY OUT OF REMEDYING THE SITUATION.

MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN MY RED BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, A FEW DAYS LATER MY EPC LIGHT CAME ON. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THAT THAT MY SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND I NOTICED THAT THE MILEAGE HAD STOPPED COUNTING. I TOOK IT TO NAPLETON'S VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN ORLANDO AND (SHORT VERSION) RECEIVED A QUOTE TO DO THE WORK OF OVER $1700 TO FIX THE ABS BEFORE THEY COULD EVEN TELL ME IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS AS THEY COULD NOT UPLOAD THE SOFTWARE FOR THE RECALL..THE PROBLEM WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE ABS MODULE..WHICH IN MY PAPERWORK IS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL INFORMATION. I HAVE TOLD THEM NOT TO FIX MY CAR AS I BELIEVE THIS IS INCORRECT (MOST OF THE WORK THEY QUOTED I BELIEVE IS INCORRECT) AND WILL BE TAKING IT TO A MECHANIC I TRUST. IT ALSO OPENS THE DOOR FOR FRAUD AS IF I ALLOWED THEM TO DO THE WORK AND THEN "FIX" THE RECALL THAT WOULD SEEM LIKE THEY WOULD BE CHARGING ME AND VOLKSWAGEN FOR THE WORK. THEY ALSO ARE CHARGING ME FOR DIAGNOSTIC ON THE ABS BUT PER THEIR OWN WORDS THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO THE DIAGNOSTIC. MY CAR ACTUALLY RUNS FINE, HOWEVER WITHOUT THE SPEEDOMETER AND HAVING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON IT FEELS VERY UNSAFE. THE PROBLEM STARTED 2 WEEKS AGO JULY 23, 2018 AND I BROUGHT IT TO SERVICE DEALER YESTERDAY

IN FEBRUARY 2017 I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FROM VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA, INC. REGARDING A DEFECTIVE ABS CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE. TO DATE, I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THIS RECALL COMPLETED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND AT DIFFERENT VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THE RECALL COULDN'T BE COMPLETED DUE TO "LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE ABS MODULE" CURRENTLY I AM UNABLE TO PASS THE REQUIRED SMOG TESTING AND HAVE BEEN STOPPED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT BECAUSE OF EXPIRED TAGS. MY REGISTRATION FEES ARE PAID IN FULL HOWEVER I AM UNABLE TO PASS A SMOG TEST BECAUSE OF THE RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF A 22 MONTH OLD GIRL WHO I TRANSPORT IN THIS VEHICLE AND I AM FEARFUL WE ARE IN DANGER OF ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS RECALL OR GETTING TOWED BY THE POLICE I WOULD BE FACED WITH A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP IF THAT WERE TO OCCUR AND IF I SHOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE.

NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS PERMANENTLY ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD DESPITE MULTIPLE ENGINE AUTO REPAIR SERVICES RENDERED. 2. THE ABS AND EPS/ASR SYMBOLS ILLUMINATE AND ALARM GOES OFF RANDOMLY WITHOUT REASON WHILE I AM DRIVING 50-65MPH ON MAJOR NYC HIGHWAYS AND/OR WHEN IM DRIVING 15-35 ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. THE EPS/ASR FLASHES CONTINUOUSLY WHILE SOUNDING AN ALARM FOR 60 SECONDS OR SO, ABS REMAINS CONSTANT LIT AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL I AM ABLE TO STOP, TURN OF THE ENGINE, WAIT A MINUTE, AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. ON HIGHWAY I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE WITH EMERGENCY LIGHTS FLASHING. 3. I WAS PULLED OVER BY A COP AT NIGHT BECAUSE ONE OF MY TAIL LIGHTS WAS OUT. I HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS THE CASE AND WOULD HAVE NEVER FOUND OUT BECAUSE THE "LIGHT BULB!" WARNING WAS NOT ON, AND NEVER CAME ON. I GOT IT FIXED 2 DAYS LATER, STILL NO LIGHT BULB SIGNAL, MY RIGHT TAILLIGHT WAS REPLACED. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE "LIGHT BULB!" ICON ILLUMINATED, I TESTED AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE WORKING- BUT THE 'LIGHTBULB!' REMAINED LIT. ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER THE LIGHTBULB WAS OFF. 4. THE AUX FEATURE ON MY CAR IS NO LONGER ACCESSIBLE. REPAIR SHOP BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIX BECAUSE VW SPECIALITY CODE/ SYSTEM PROGRAMMING? 5. I HAVE NOTICED IT TAKES MORE EFFORT TO ENGAGE MY BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD MY CAR BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT LEAST 2X OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS (I HAVE DRIVEN ABOUT 20K MILES). I PURCHASED THIS 2009 JETTA VW USED FROM MY DAUGHTER. SHE WAS ORIGINAL OWNER AND DILIGENT ABOUT KEEPING THE MAINTENANCE UP TO DATE. IT HAD 115,000 MILES WHEN I PURCHASED IT AND HAD TO REPLACE BATTERY AND REAR BRAKES WITHIN 3 MONTHS ALTHOUGH SHE HAD REPLACED REAR BRAKES 6 MONTHS EARLIER. MY COMPLAINT IS THE PARKING BRAKE NEVER SEEMED TO HOLD AND I WOULD NEED TO LEAVE THE CAR IN GEAR WHEN PARKING THE CAR ON A HILL. THE CAR HAD ROLLED BACK WHEN I LEFT THE CAR PARKED AT MY WORK 6 MONTHS AGO AND IT ROLLED BACK AND HIT THE SIDEWALK CURB. NO DAMAGE AT THE TIME. TODAY 8/28.17 I WENT TO THE STORE AND PARKED THE CAR OUTSIDE THE STORES ENTRANCE DOOR. THE LOT HAS A VERY SLIGHT SLOPE BUT GENERALLY LEVEL. I PULLED BACK ON THE HAND BRAKE WHICH SEEMED SECURE. WHEN I LEFT THE CAR I WAS GONE FOR LESS THAN 3 MIN WHEN I ENTERED THE STORE. I HAD FORGOTTEN MY CELLPHONE AND RETURNED TO THE CAR WHICH WAS ONLY 10 FT FROM DOOR. IT HAD ROLLED BACK ABOUT 50 FT AND HIT A TREE IN THE PARKING LOT.. THE CRASH CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY REAR RIGHT RIGHT FENDER AND QUARTER PANEL IN THE AMOUNT OF OVER $2000. THIS CRASH WAS DIRECT RESULT OF A FAULTY HAND BRAKE. IT WAS ONLY A MIRACLE THAT NO CAR OR CHILDREN WERE HIT BY THE CAR. ONLY A LONE TREE WAS DAMAGED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT OF THIS MODEL. MY ABS MODULE STOPPED WORKING OCT 2016, I HAD IT REPAIRED NOV 2016. I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR THE ABS MODULE FEB 2017. STATED WOULD REIMBURSE FOR REPAIRS IF THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE. I MAILED REQUESTED INFORMATION 3/3/17. I PHONED ON 4-12-17 TO VERIFY IT WAS RECEIVED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS RECEIVED ON 3/9/17 AND WAS UNDER REVIEW. I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR A SPECIFIC PART, NOT THE ENTIRE ABS MODULE AND MY REPAIR BILL DID NOT HAVE THE PART NUMBER THAT WAS REPLACED ON IT. I WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR A LETTER EXPLAINING WHAT FURTHER INFORMATION THEY WOULD NEED FROM MY MECHANIC AND I SHOULD HAVE THAT LETTER IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS. AFTER A MONTH AND RECEIVING NO LETTER I CALLED ON 5/17/17 AND WAS TOLD STILL UNDER REVIEW, I WOULD HAVE A RESPONSE IN 4 WEEKS. BY 6/23/17 STILL NO LETTER SO I CALLED AGAIN AND WAS TOLD BY THE REP SHE WOULD CALL ME BACK AFTER SHE LOOKED INTO IT. ON 6/26/17 THE VW REP PHONED ME AND STATED THEY WOULD NOT BE PAYING MY CLAIM BECAUSE I HAD THE ABS MODULE REPAIRED INSTEAD OF A COMPLETELY REPLACED. THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT I WAS TOLD ORIGINALLY. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SCAM TO NOT HAVE TO PAY. PER THEIR ORIGINAL RECALL LETTER-ATTACHED-IT WAS A SPECIFIC DEFECT IN THE ABS SYSTEM AND NOT THE ENTIRE SYSTEM ITSELF. THE DECLINE LETTER THAT I RECEIVED-ATTACHED-STATES THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE I NEEDED TO REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ABS MODULE. CLEARLY THEY CHANGE THEIR STORY TO SUIT THEIR NEEDS.

I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE REPAIR SHOP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT RE-RUN THE SOFTWARE UPDATE, THE ABS COULD FAIL AND THEY WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE FOR A COST OF $1,700. THE ERROR CODE I WAS GIVEN AT THE DEALERSHIP IS 16352 014, WHICH INDICATES AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IN THE UNIT, MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS FAILURE IS PART OF THE RECALL?

WHEN DRIVING ON A WINDEY ROAD THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS BREAKING FUNNY. I CHECKED ONLINE TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE ABS MODULE SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE UPDATED. THE RECALL ALSO STATED THAT THE ABS MODULE MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE UPDATE INSTALLED, SO NOW THAT I HAVE IT BACK, IT IS WORSE THAN EVER. THEY SAID THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE FOR $1,6665 IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR WORKING RIGHT AGAIN. "WASN'T IT INCLUDED" I ASKED. THEY SAID IT WAS A SEPARATE PROBLEM AND THE ERROR CODE WAS NOT IN THE PERIMETERS. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM DO TO VOLKSWAGEN'S SCREW UP WITH THE SOFTWARE. I'VE CHECKED AROUND AND THERE ARE MANY OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. JUST THE OTHER DAY THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE ABS MODULE ON THIS VEHICLE ALSO TRACKS YOUR SPEED. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE AND THIS IS A BLATANT FAULT TOWARDS VOLKSWAGEN AND THEIR SHADY PRACTICE.

ABS MODULE RECALL. I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM VW. PRIOR TO SCHEDULING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER TO FIX THE ABS UNIT FAILED ON THE CAR. WHEN THE DEALER TESTED IT THEY SAID IT FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE VERY NARROW PARAMETERS THAT VW DEFINED TO COVER THE ABS MODULE FAILURE AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY $2,700 TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE. THE SERVICE MANAGER CONFIDENTIALLY TOLD ME THEY ARE SEEING A LARGE NUMBER OF SUDDEN ABS MODULE FAILURES AND VW IS NOT COVERING VERY MANY. THEY WROTE THE RECALL AND TEST PROCEDURE TO AVOID HAVING TO COVER THE REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS IS A BLATANT EFFORT BY VW TO AVOID THE EXPENSE OF ANOTHER COSTLY RECALL ON THE HEELS OF THE DIESEL DEBACLE. 2009 VW JETTA SE HAS A RECALL FOR THE ABS MODULE AND THE VW REFUSED TO HONOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE RECALL AND I WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE THE ABS MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. AFTER THE RECALL WAS ISSUED I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER BUT VW REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE, AS STATED BY THE RECALL. REASON GIVEN, IS THAT THE ABS MODULE HAS PRE-EXISTING FAULTS. THIS IS OBVIOUS, THAT IS WHY IT FAILED. THE COMPONENTS ON THE BOARD ARE NOT SOLDERED PROPERLY THUS LEADING TO THE COMPONENTS ON THE BOARD TO COME LOOSE DUE TO THE NATURAL VIBRATION OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE, THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED PARTS. THEY STATED THAT VW POLICY DID NOT ALLOW THEM TO ORDER PARTS UNTIL THE NEW SOFTWARE WAS LOADED TO ABS MODULE AND A TEST CONDUCTED. VW DEALERSHIP STATED THAT 70% OF ABS BOARDS FAIL TEST AND IT TAKES EIGHT DAYS TO RECEIVE REPLACEMENT PART. I CONTACTED VW CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OPENED A CASE. VW CUSTOMER SERVICE INVESTIGATED AND CONFIRMED VW POLICY PREVENTS DEALERSHIPS FROM ORDERING OR MAINTAINING PARTS INVENTORY FOR RECALLED CARS WITHOUT AN ERROR REPORT. I CONTACTED THE CEO OF VW BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I WOULD LIKE THE NHTSA'S ASSISTANCE TO HAVE VW COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIRS AND HAVE REQUIRED PARTS IN INVENTORY TO MAKE REPAIRS.

AFTER THEY WORKED ON MY CAR AND DID THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THE ABS LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THEY TOLD ME MY ABS PUMP HAD A FAILURE CODE OF 01276/12 (ABS PUMP ELECTRICAL ERROR IN CIRCUIT REMAINS) AND THAT THE RECALL DID NOT COVER IT AND QUOTED ME TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY AT $2600. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE ABS MODULE CONTROLS THE PUMP AND IF THE PUMP FAILS IT IS BECAUSE THE MODULE FAILED. I CONTACTED VW CORPORATE AND THEY GAVE ME THE SAME ANSWER, IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. IF I DRIVE THE CAR I AM AT RISK OF DYING, MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ARE AT RISK OF DYING. THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE CAR. I CAN NOT BELIEVE VW WOULD TRY AND PUSH THE FIX BACK ON THE CONSUMER!!!!

CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STILL ON. NOW EPC LIGHT IS ON. ALSO, ALL OF MY ABS LIGHTS, CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY CONTROL, AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. HOW DO I KNOW THE DEALER ACTUALLY DID THE ABS REPAIR? I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO VW OF NEW PORT RICHEY LOCATED 4727 US-19, NEW PORT RICHEY, FL. MY CAR WAS AT THIS DEALERSHIP FOR 10DAYS, THE RECALL SUGGESTED AN UPDATE FOR THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND IF THE UPDATE DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE A REPLACEMENT WOULD BE NEEDED AND COMPLETED AT NO CHARGE. VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA WAS CONTACTED AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE REPLACEMENT WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AFTER WAITING AND PLAYING PHONE TAG WITH VW OF AMERICA AND THE DEALER WE WERE TOLD BY VW OF AMERICA THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WOULD NOT BE REPLACED BY THEM. WE ARE LEFT WITH A CAR UNREPAIRED BY A RECALL THAT IS ON THE CAR. WE WERE INSULTED AND OFFERED A $100 GIFT CARD IN WHICH WAS NEVER RECEIVED. WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS A RECALL. ALL WE ASKED WAS FOR THE ABS CONTROL MODULE BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE AS WE WERE TOLD. THE ABS MODULE ON MY 2009 VW JETTA. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE VW DEALER IN ONTARIO CALIFORNIA ON 12-27-2016, SERVICE ADVISER ROBERT TOBAR INFORMED ME THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED AND TOLD ME THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS QUOTED $2640.39. I ASKED HIM IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PART AND HE SAID NO. SINCE SO MANY PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, I FIGURED IT HAD TO BE A FAULTY PART AND DECIDED TO WAIT FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF A RECALL. IN MARCH 2017, I FOUND OUT THAT APPROXIMATELY 136K VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR THE ABS MODULE. MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER 45F2/NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V913 AFTER SEARCHING MY VIN NUMBER, I FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER 3/10/17 9:30AM. THE SERVICE ADVISER IS PHILIP GIBSON. I CALLED PHILIP AT 4:46PM AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE REPLACEMENT ABS PART WAS PUT ON ORDER AND THAT IT WOULD TAKE APPROXIMATELY 5 DAYS TO FIX. AT 523PM, PHILIP CALLED ME AND SAID THAT BECAUSE MY ABS MODULE ALREADY FAULTED DUE TO THE RECALL, THAT I WASN'T ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FIX TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALLED. I TOLD HIM THAT THIS DID NOT MAKE SENSE AND HE AGREED AND TOLD ME TO CALL CUSTOMER CARE AT 9093765411. UNFORTUNATELY, CUSTOMER CARE WAS ALREADY CLOSED. PLEASE HELP.

I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFETIME AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A MAJOR SAFETY DEVICE TO FAIL AS THIS DID SO EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THIS CAR. THE FAILURE THAT OCCURRED WAS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET, ALMOST ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS TURNED ON (BRAKE, ABS, CHECK ENGINE, AND STABILITY CONTROL) AND THE FUEL AND SPEEDOMETER GAUGES WENT OUT. AFTER PULLING OVER AND RESTARTING THE CAR, IT SEEM TO OPERATE OK, BUT THEN EVERYTHING LIT UP AGAIN. I PULLED OVER ON A SIDE STREET TO TEST THE BRAKES AND IT SEEMED TO BRAKE "NORMAL" WITHOUT ENGAGING THE ABS. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I HAD TO STOP QUICKLY DUE TO POSSIBLE IMPACT WITH A CAR WHICH RAN A RED LIGHT. ABS/ESP LIGHTS STAYED ON AND MY TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL AND ABS DID NOT FUNCTION ANYMORE. CONVENTIONAL BRAKING WAS STILL WORKING NORMAL AND CAR WAS DRIVE-ABLE. UPON PERFORMING A ABS/ESP SCAN FOR FAULTS, IT INDICATED A INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE ABS CONTROL MODULE. TURNING THE CAR ON AND OFF RESETS THE LIGHTS AND ABS FUNCTION IS RESTORED, BUT IF YOU ATTEMPT TO DO ANOTHER PANIC STOP- ALL THE LIGHTS COME ON AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION- BRAKES LOCK UP.

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES, EXPECTING THE ABS TO KICK ON I KEPT MY FOOT DOWN UNTIL I REALIZED ALL MY TIRES HAD LOCKED UP AND I STARTED TO SLIDE SIDEWAYS. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC I BEGAN PUMPING MY BRAKES. EVER SINCE, MY ABS SYSTEM WILL WORK FOR A BRIEF SECOND BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR MANY 2009 MARK V VW VEHICLES INCLUDING THE JETTA. I WAS TOLD BY VW THAT IT WOULD BEA $1600 REPLACMENT ABS MODULE. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS A SAFETY HAZARD BY VWOA.

ABS MODULE FAILED ON MY VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 40MPH. CAR HAS ONLY DONE ABOUT 67,000 MILES. THE FAILURE OF THE PART AFFECTED NOT ONLY THE ABS ITSELF BUT THE POWER STEERING, THE GAS GAUGE AND THE SPEEDOMETER, ALL OF WHICH STARTED TO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL. THE PART COST OVER $1600 TO REPLACE AND I WAS WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS AS IT TOOK THEM A LONG TIME TO REPROGRAM THE CAR. IT WOULD SEEM THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2009 VOLKSWAGEN AND AS THE PART IS SO EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE, VW NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS.

MY ANTI-LOCKS FAILED TODAY AS I ATTEMPTED TO AVOID A VEHICLE NEARLY SIDE SWIPING ME ON AN URBAN INTERSTATE DURING DAYTIME TRAFFIC. WHEN SEARCHING FOR RELATED ISSUES ON THE INTERNET, IF FOUND NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE ABS FAILURE. TO GET THE ABS FIXED IT'S GOING TO BE OVER $2500 AND THE HAVE THE ERC & DIESEL FUEL PARTICULATE FILTER FIXED IS OVER $3000. EACH OF THESE ITEMS ARE FAULTY AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE DEALER WITH A CENT PAID FROM MY POCKET. BOTH ARE LIFE THREATENING FAULTS THAT EVENTUALLY COULD LEAD TO MY DEATH OR DEATHS OF OTHERS. I HAVE NO CHOICE AS THIS IS MY SOLE SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION SO I HAVE TO DRIVE IT. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH WHEN A CONSTRUCTION VEHICLE SWERVED INTO MY LANE IN FRONT OF ME. I BRAKED QUICKLY - FIRMLY BUT NOT A FULL PANIC BRAKE - AND IMMEDIATELY FELT THE CAR LOSE TRACTION AND START TO SPIN. THERE WAS NO ABS BRAKE PEDAL FEEDBACK. THE CAR DID A PERFECT 180 AND I ENDED UP BETWEEN THE LEFT AND MIDDLE LANES, FACING THE WRONG DIRECTION. THANKFULLY I DIDN'T SPIN OFF OF THE ROAD AND THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE ABLE TO STOP IN TIME - ABOUT A FOOT FROM WHERE MY FRONT BUMPER STOPPED. I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I REVERSED THE CAR, GOT FACING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND THEN PULLED OFF INTO THE SHOULDER TO CATCH MY NERVES AND EVALUATE THE CAR. THERE WAS A BEEPING SOUND AND 'BRAKE' ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED A MINUTE AND TURNED IT BACK ON. NO WARNING SOUNDS OR DASH LIGHTS SHOWED ANYTHING WAS WRONG AFTER THE RESTART. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL VW DEALER AND FOUND OUT MY ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF AROUND $2300. NOT TO MENTION THE TWO REAR TIRES I NEEDED TO REPLACE FROM THE WHEELS LOCKING UP AND FLAT-SPOTTING THEM. I CALLED VW USA TO COMPLAIN AND AFTER 3 CALLS EXPLAINING THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING PROBLEM FROM THE NHTSA WEBSITE COMPLAINTS AREA, WAS TOLD A 25% DISCOUNT ON THE REPAIR WAS AS GOOD AS THEY COULD DO AND HAVE A NICE DAY. NO CONCERN OR COMMENTS ON THE LACK OF ANY WARNING LAMP OF ABS FAILURE BEFORE THE INCIDENT OR AFTER THE CAR WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE COULD HAVE OCCURRED 2 YEARS PRIOR WHILE THE CAR WAS IN WARRANTY BUT I DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I ACTUALLY NEEDED THE ABS TO WORK AND FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY. SHAME ON VW... IT APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY ARE LOOKING THE OTHER WAY TO SAVE A BUCK.

BECAUSE I WAS PREPARED FOR AN EVENT, I IMMEDIATELY SET HAZARDS AND ROLLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND MADE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME (2 BLOCKS) WITHOUT IT STALLING AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE 101 FREEWAY AT 4PM ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK IN MODERATE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN I BRAKED THINKING IT WAS CLOSER TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME THEN I ACTUALLY WAS AND HIT MY BRAKE; MY FOOT WHEN TO THE FLOOR, THE CAR DID NOT STOP BUT SKIDDED AND SPUN AROUND. THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WHICH TOOK 9 DAYS TO FIX AND COST $1238.56. I NOTICED THE RADIO WOULD STAYED ON WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE CAR AFTER THAT THOUGH. THEN WE HAD THE CHECK ENGINE, AIR BAG, ABS AND TRACTION LIGHTS ON AT 109,452. I TOOK IT TO MY SERVICE STATION ON 11/28/2014, BUT HE SAID THE DEALER HAD TO PROGRAM UPDATE THE SOFTWARE AND CHECK THE ABS MODULE FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE O2 SENSOR ON NUMBER 2 CYLINDER. THEY FOUND NO PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAG, ABS MODULE OR TRACTION CONTROL. THEY CHARGED ME $600. THE LIGHTS WERE ALL OFF. ON JANUARY 3, MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND HER GIRLFRIEND WENT TO THE MOVIES LAST NIGHT WITH THE CAR. IT WAS LIGHTLY RAINING OUT. SHE LEFT THE MOVIE THEATRE AROUND 8:20 PM. DURING A PANIC STOP TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT THE ABS AND ATC (TRACTION CONTROL) DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON SOLID ALONG WITH AN ALARM AND THE BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHING ON AND OFF. DURING THIS PANIC STOP BOTH REAR BRAKES LOCKED. TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND ON RESET THE INDICATOR LIGHTS. TEN MINUTES LATER I ATTEMPTED TO DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT ON A QUIET SIDE STREET BY DRIVING AT 20 MPH AND HITTING THE BRAKES HARD ENOUGH TO ENGAGE THE ABS. I PULLED INTO THE CLOSEST GAS STATION TO INVESTIGATE AND MY REAR BRAKES WERE LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT COME LOOSE. I THOUGHT THEY MAY AHVE BEEN FROZEN SO I CLEANED WHAT SNOW WAS ON THERE AND ACTUATED THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES, MOVING MY VEHICLE BACK AND FORTH TO BREAK THEM LOOSE. THIS DID NOT WORK SO I DROVE IT ABOUT 4 MILES TO THE CLOSEST VW DEALERSHIP, WHICH WAS VERY DIFFICULT DUE TO THE ICY ROADS AND MY REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP. THE VW TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE MY REAR WHEELS WERE STUCK IN THAT SNOW DRIFT AND MY FRONT TIRES WERE TRYING TO GET ME UNSTUCK, A CODE POPPED UP WHICH ACTIVATED MY REAR BRAKES. HE CLEARED THE CODE AND MY CAR WORKS PERFECTLY FINE. IF THIS "CODE" HAD TRIPPED 10 MINUTES LATER, I WOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON VERY BAD ROAD CONDITIONS AND WOULD HAVE CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. BRAKES SQUEALED FROM THE DATE OF DELIVERY IN MARCH 2009. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VW SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO INSPECT BRAKES. I WAS TOLD EACH TIME THAT THAT'S COMMON IN THE VW JETTA AND I HAD TO GET USED TO IT. BRAKES SEEMED TO FAIL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VW SERVICE AFTER ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES TO INSPECT BRAKES AND EACH TIME I WAS TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG UNTIL THEY FINALLY REPLACED THE BOOSTER AND THE SWAY BAR LINKS. AFTER VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED BACK TO ME, THE BRAKE FLUID STARTED TO LEAK AND THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT KEEPS ILLUMINATING. VW SAID THAT NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE CAR HAS DELAYED BRAKING AND SOMETIMES NO BRAKES AND IS DANGEROUS ON THE ROADS, ESPECIALLY THE HIGHWAY. *TR
