2010 Jetta, manual transmission Key gets stuck in ignition and wont cut car off. Eventually got key out, ignition locked wont let key turn car on. This is a known vw issue with over 860 complaints on this exact issue between 2009-2013. VW refuses to do recall, even though this is a manufacturing parts issue.

FAULT ON ANTI LOCKING BRAKE (ABS), INDICATED BY ILLUMINATION ON DASH, ESC LIGHT ON AND FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT ON. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED THAT ISSUE AS LISTED IN SAFETY RECALL 16V-913 APPLIES TO OTHER VEHICLES NOT LISTED ON VIN RANGE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS OTHERS HAVE INDICATED THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS ON THEIR MODELS NOT COVERED BY VIN RECALL. CUSTOMER SERVICE (VW) WAS CALLED, PER DEALER DIRECTION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE AT VW DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO READ THE VIN CODES OR CAN TELL ME WHICH VIN CODE MAKES THE FAULTY ABS MODULE APPLICABLE OR NOT APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE.

Abs and stability control became inoperative at around 50mph. It's a 55mph road thats heavily trafficked since its near a port. I had to stop the car on the side of the road since we almost crashed into an 18 wheeler. Fortunately we were close to home I drove the car at a reasonable speed just to get home. After that incident we have stopped using this vehicle since it gets even more dangerous every time, especially when it rains. Since then brake light has come on and hydraulic and suspension has been bad. This happened last year when pandemic was still full force and without a vehicle. Had to save and buy a more reliable vehicle for our own safety. I know this is a really good car but i really hope y’all can help me fix this since it’s really not the consumer’s fault. I’ve checked there is a recall for this but my “Jetta” is not in those vehicles that were recalled. I really cant drive the vehicle therefore i have no use for it. Please let me know if something could be done since i wouldn’t like to pay out of pocket for something that could be done by the manufacturer and even save our and others life’s in the future when more vehicle owners come forward. the vehicle ABS module failed back in Nov2020 and was brought to local VW Dealer and diagnosed as bad module. fast forward to Aug 2021 and ABS module failed again and bad wiring was found which is why the first module failed to begin with in my belief. both times when the module failed was after my wife slammed on brakes hard activating the ABS system which in turn caused the warning lights to come on and car go into limp mode. I tried limping the car to the dealership for repair and was almost hit by a large truck coming from behind as I had no response from the accelerator pedal. I am not sure why this particular VIN was never added to the recall list as it fits the criteria as all other vehicles experiencing this issue. we paid $2600 the first time for the repair and are now out more money to have this known problem fixed again !

When I try to start the car it was giving me a hard time to turn the key in the ignition then when I got it to start I was coming home and I park the car try to stop the car and take the key out the ignition it won't cut off and the key stuck in the ignition while the car still on it wouldn't let me stop or cut off the car and the key wouldn't come out of the ignition

I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ONTO A SIDE STREET AND POPPED THE HOOD. THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I THEN PULLED MY PANICKED 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OUT OF HER CAR SEAT AND TOOK HER ACROSS THE STREET. WE THEN CALLED 9-11 AND THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE HE SAYS THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LINE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL FOR MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT FOR MY VIN# EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME CAUSE AS MY CAR'S FIRE!

THERE IS NO SECONDARY METHOD OF LOCKING THE DOOR, SINCE THE ACTUATOR IS SOLELY ELECTRICALLY OPERATED. THERE ARE ALSO INDICATIONS THAT THIS CONDITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DRAINING THE CAR'S BATTERY WHEN LEFT FOR MORE THAN 5 DAYS WITHOUT STARTING.

THE DOOR LOCKS/LATCHES FOR VW JETTA WOLFSBURG EDITION 2010 ARE NOT WORKING (CURRENTLY, THREE OUT OF FOUR DOORS/LATCHES ARE NOT WORKING). THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPLACEMENT IS $595 PER DOOR LATCH (TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $1,785). WHILE IT MAY POSE A SAFETY RISK, IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE THAT THE SIDE AIRBAGS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK WHEN THERE ARE ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LOCKS/LATCHES. THERE IS ALSO A POSSIBILITY FOR THEFT WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS ARE NOT WORKING. ALSO, TURN SIGNALS ON BOTH SIDE-VIEW MIRRORS ARE NOT WORKING. THE ESTIMATED COST FOR REPLACEMENT OF TURN SIGNAL ON EACH SIDE IS $437 (TOTAL ESTIMATED COST: $874). THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY, WHICH SEEMS LIKE A COMMON PROBLEM. BUT IN ADDITION THE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING FROM THAT POINT ON. 12 DIFFERENT ERROR WARNINGS APPEARED ON THE READOUT ABOUT DIFFERENT LIGHTS NOT WORKING. I CHECKED THE FUSES AND ALL OF THEM WERE OK, NOT BURNED. SEVERAL YEARS AGO I HAD ONE OF THE HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORK. AT THAT POINT I CHECKED THE FUSES AND THERE WAS ONE FUSE THAT HAD A DEFORMED PLASTIC CAP, BUT THE METAL PART WAS STILL IN ONE PIECE. PART OF THE FUSE BOX IT WAS INSERTED IN WAS MELTED. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHEN I FIRST STARTED THE CAR. OBVIOUSLY I COULD NOT OPERATE THE CAR SINCE THE BRAKE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, AND HEADLIGHTS WERE ALL AFFECTED. THE DIAGNOSTIC DISPLAY IN THE CAR ALSO SHOWED TO CHECK THE AIRBAGS AND STABILITY CONTROL.

AFTER CHECKING ON LINE, I FIND THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME SUBJECT.

ALSO, THE BACK LEFT BREAK LIGHT AND FRONT RIGHT HEADLIGHT WAS NOT WORKING. THE BREAKLIGHT AND THE HEADLIGHT STARTED WORKING AS I WAS DRIVING IT, BUT THE STEREO HAS BEEN DEAD FOR ALMOST A WEEK NOW. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I DID A SEARCH ONLINE AND HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THEIR RADIO IN THE SAME YEAR JETTA AS MINE. THERE IS A LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN NEAR MY HOUSE AND THIS PEOPLE SUGGEST ME TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE ABS PUMP, VACUUM PUMP AND THEY GOT THE NERVE TO CHARGE ME FOR THE CAR REVISION WHEN THEY KNEW THIS CAR IS ON RECALL.

MY KEY HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO TURN IN THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR RECENTLY. YESTERDAY I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THE CAR STARTED. AFTER DRIVING THE CAR THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN TO TURN OFF THE CAR. NO MATTER WHAT I CAN NOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I ONLY GOT THE MOTOR TO SHUT OFF BECAUSE MY SON KNEW TO PULL A FUSE AND THEN TAKE OFF A BATTERY CABLE. THIS IGNITION PROBLEM IS SERIOUS AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU CAN'T TURN OFF THE CAR.

AS WITH MOST OTHER 2010 VW JETTA OWNERS, MY PREMIUM 8 TOUCH SCREEN RADIO (SN: VWZ4Z7J3024044) STOPPED WORKING, NO WARNING OR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. I HAVE BEEN TAKING A GREAT CARE OF MY JETTA WHICH HAS VERY LOW MILES (33K) AND I NEVER HAVE HAD A RADIO FAIL IN ANY MY PREVIOUS CARS, ONE OF THEM WAS ALSO A VW CAR. MY LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ME $600 FOR A REFURBISHED RADIO PLUS $70 FOR THE INSTALLATION. I HAVE REVIEWED VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE REVISION OF THIS RADIO FOR THE 2010-2011 MODEL YEAR. UNFORTUNATELY VOLKSWAGEN HAS DONE NOTHING TO ISSUE RECALL. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHERE THEY DROVE IT AND MENTIONED THE WIRING HARNESS LEAKING OIL/FLUID. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR AT THE DEALER 4 TIMES WITHIN A 6 MONTH PERIOD (MAY-NOV 2016) FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE, AS I KEEP THIS CAR IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAVE IT CHECKED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR TO PREVENT ISSUES FROM OCCURRING. REPLACED BATTERY AGAIN $200+ PARTS AND LABOR. 3-4 WEEKS LATER AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY TWICE, SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. CAR IS DEAD, TOWED TO SHOP AGAIN. SURE ENOUGH AFTER REMOVING AND INSPECTING, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE FUSE HAS BEGUN TO MELT AND THE FEMALE FUSE TERMINALS AND PLASTIC FUSE BOX AROUND THE CONNECTION HAVE ALL STARTED TO MELT. TURNING THE FUSE AROUND HAS GOTTEN THE LIGHTS WORKING AGAIN FOR TONIGHT, BUT WILL LIKELY NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUSE BOX AS A PERMANENT FIX.

SO I THOUGHT ONCE I HAD THE NEW BATTERY IT WOULD WORK-IT DIDNT. WENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT (OFFICIALLY JUST FOR THE RADIO OVER THE SUMMER) DEALER SAID I WOULD NEED A NEW RADIO. SO I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT FOR OVER A YEAR. TODAY IT WAS BITTER COLD IN MI AND MY BATTERY NEEDED A JUMP AGAIN, DURING THIS PROCESS, THE RADIO AGAIN CAME ON FOR A FEW MINUTES. ONCE THE CAR WAS FULLY CHARGED AND ROLLING, THE RADIO COMPLETELY DIED AGAIN. THIS CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD, UNDER 90,000 MILES-IT SHOULD NOT HAVE A RADIO ISSUE. AS A RESULT THE HANDS FREE PHONE SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK EITHER.

THE TAIL LIGHTS AND BRAKE LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING. DISCOVERED DURING ANNUAL STATE REQUIRED INSPECTION IN SEPTEMBER 2015. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE REGULARLY ON RURAL, CITY AND HIGHWAY ROADS WITHOUT TAIL AND BRAKE LIGHTS AND WAS UNAWARE. A REPAIR TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING WAS REQUIRED. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOESN'T LOCK AND UNLOCK WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE KEYFOB OR THE BUTTON IN THE CAR TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS. THIS IS A VERY INFREQUENTLY USED DOOR AND IT IS THE DOOR USED THE LEAST IN THE VEHICLE. DEALER STATES IT IS A BAD DOOR LATCH. I HAVE NOT REPAIRED IT. IT DOESN'T ALWAYS OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, SOMETIMES I HAVE TO REACH IN AND OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE TO GET THE DOOR OPEN. ON 01.12.2016 THE CAR RADIO STOPPED WORKING. THE FUSES ARE GOOD AND INTACT. THE BLUETOOTH NO LONGER WORKS SINCE THE RADIO DOESN'T WORK. IT IS COMPLETELY OUT OF SERVICE, NOTHING WORKS ON THE RADIO. I RELIED HEAVILY ON THE BLUETOOTH FOR HANDS FREE PHONE CALLS SINCE THE VEHICLE IS MANUAL TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN DISCOVERED. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES ON IT.

DOOR LOCKS FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. BATTERY DRAIN WHEN NOT USED FOR TWO WEEKS, REQUIRING JUMP START (REPLACED BATTERY ONE YEAR AGO). CAR WOULD NOT START (BATTERY WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER, YES THE SAME NEW BATTERY) TOWED TO DEALER WHO SAID THEY REPLACED SOME FUSES. RECENTLY, RADIO WILL NOT POWER ON. DEALER STATES THE RADIO FAILED, FUSES FINE. I HAVE SEEN 100S OF REPORTS OF FAILED RADIOS AND DOOR LOCKS IN THE 2010 JETTA. THERE MUST BE A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE. CARS THAT ARE 5 YEARS OLD (I HAVE SEEN REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING WHEN THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD) ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS. FORT TWO YEARS I HAVE COMPLAINED TO VW DEALER THAT DOOR LOCKS WERE NOT WORKING. THEY NEVER PUT IT ON A REPAIR/SERVICE FORM. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN, THEY SAID THE DOOR LOCKS WORK FINE, ONE JUST HAS TO PULL TWICE, TO EXIT. BUT THEY COULD NOT SAY HOW TO LOCK ALL THE DOORS WHEN PARKING ON THE STREET. MY DOOR LOCKS HAVE NOT WORKED PROPERLY SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I TOOK THE BUS TO THE DEALER TO COMPLAIN THAT MY KEYS WERE LOCKED IN THE CAR. THEY SAID THAT WAS "IMPOSSIBLE" AND IT TOOK ME A WEEK AND $500.00 TO GET MY CAR TOWED, NEW KEYS AND RESETS. I AM LIVID. DOORS WON'T ALL LOCK MOST OF THE TIME. OR UNLOCK, MOST OF THE TIME. I BELIEVE THAT NOT BEING ABLE TO RELIABLY EXIT A CAR OR LOCK IT WHEN LEAVING IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT TO YOU ABOUT THIS CAR, THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE OF SOFTWARE THAT STALLED THE CAR IN INTERSECTIONS WHICH HAD TO BE FEDERALLY ORDERED RECALL. I THINK THE DEALER REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THE DOOR LOCKING PROBLEMS DURING WARRANTY IN HOPES THAT I WOULD RETURN AGAIN AND AGAIN TO HAVE LOCKS REPAIRED UNTIL I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS STINKS. STEREO JUST WENT COMPLETELY DEAD FOR NO REASON. BLUETOOTH IS OUT OF COMMISSION AS WELL. THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS EVERYONE ELSE HERE. I CHECKED MY FUSES AND THEY ARE ALL FINE. WENT TO MY LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALER AND GOT THE SAME SONG AND DANCE AS EVERYONE ELSE HERE. MY SERVICE TECH AT FIRST TRIED TO DENY THAT THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES, BUT AFTER ME PRESSING HIM ON THE ISSUE AND ASKED IF HE HAD READ ALL OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, HE FESSED UP. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR INADVERTENTLY DISENGAGES THE DSG TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN NO POWER TRANSFER TO THE WHEELS. THE CAR ALSO DISPLAYS AN "ESP ERROR" (ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM) IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. ONCE THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF, AND THEN BACK ON, THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED TEMPORARILY. IT HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND POSES DANGER FOR THE DRIVER AND OCCUPANTS. THIS INITIALLY HAPPENED 2 MONTHS PRIOR AFTER A HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT AND THE BULB STATUS LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGEMENT EVENT OCCURRED ONCE OR TWICE BEFORE THE HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING THE LIGHT BULB, THE TRANSMISSION ERROR APPEARED TO RESOLVE ITSELF. TWO MONTHS LATER, THE EVENT OCCURRED FOLLOWING THE FAILURE OF A VALVE STEM WITH TPMS SENSOR ON THE TIRE. THE REPAIR SHOP DID NOT HAVE ANY TPMS SENSORS IN STOCK AND REPLACED THE STEM WITH A RUBBER ONE. THIS RESULTED IN THE TPMS STATUS LIGHT BEING ON IN THE DASH. COINCIDENTALLY, WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF THIS, THE DSG TRANSMISSION /ESP ERROR RE-EMERGED. THIS TIME AROUND THE ERROR OCCURRED EVERY 5 TO 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THIS DISENGAGEMENT HAPPENED DURING CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING AT VARYING SPEEDS. DISABLING ESP AND DRIVING IN MANUAL MODE DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS LEAVES THE OCCUPANTS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING THROUGH CONSTRUCTION ZONES AND OTHER AREAS WITHOUT ADEQUATE SHOULDERS ON THE ROAD. THE CAR IS UP TO DATE ON PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. CAR IS AT 113,000 MILES. EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 109,000. NEITHER VW OF AMERICA OR WARRANTY COMPANY SAY THEY CAN ASSIST. DEALERSHIP SERVICE CANNOT SPECIFICALLY DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND SUGGEST EITHER MECHATRONIC UNIT REPLACEMENT ($2,000) MIGHT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IF NOT, COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT ($5,000) IS RECOMMENDED.

THE DAY I RECEIVED THE EMAIL FROM THE NHTSA FOR THE CLOCK SPRINGS FAILING ON MY MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. AT FIRST I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AND THEN I LOST MY HORN AND RADIO CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL. SINCE I HAD JUST READ THE INVESTIGATION THAT IS BEEN INITIATED I KNEW THAT IS WHAT IT WAS. IT IS THE ONLY PART THAT POWERS THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAMPAIGN NUMBER FOR THAT IS 15V483000. I ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE SHORTLY AFTER THAT NOISE STARTED (THANKFULLY) AND TURNED OFF MY CAR. REMOVED THE KEYS FROM THE IGNITION BUT THE LOUD NOISE DID NOT STOP!!! I HAD TO OPEN THE HOOD AND PULL OUT SOME FUSES TO GET IT TO STOP! TWO WEEKS AFTER THIS HAPPENED, MY CAR DIED WHEN WAITING IN A DRIVE-THRU. WE HAD TO PUSH MY CAR. MY CAR WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. NOTHING INSIDE THE CAR WOULD WORK. I CALLED MY HUSBAND, HE OPENED THE HOOD, UNHOOKED A FUSE AND IT STARTED! THE NEXT DAY MY CAR WAS DEAD, HAD TO PUT IT ON A BATTERY CHARGER. I'M AFRAID IF I REPLACE THE STEREO, IT TOO WILL GO OUT AND POSSIBLY SHORT OUT OTHER ELECTRICAL ITEMS IN MY CAR. AS OF NOW, THE STEREO IS IN PLACE BUT UNHOOKED AND MY BATTERY IS FINE. THIS MORNING 8/17/15 I AGAIN HAVE A DEAD RADIO, SAME AS BEFORE, I CALLED DEALER AND ASKED WHEN THEY REPLACED THE PRIOR ONE AND IT IS ALMOST 2 YEARS TO THE DATE! THIS TIME THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE IT (I HAVE NEVER HAD A FACTORY RADIO GO BAD IN ANY CAR I HAVE OWNED IN 30 PLUS YEARS OF DRIVING CARS). I CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE RADIO, BUT I LIKE THE SAFETY OF HAVING THE HANDS FREE BLUETOOTH TO TALK ON THE PHONE. I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A NEW JETTA FOR MYSELF AND GIVING THIS ONE TO MY TEENAGE SON, BUT I THINK I BETTER UNLOAD THIS ONE IF THE RADIO IS GOING TO KEEP DYING EVERY 2 YEARS. I CALLED THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP (AL SERRA) THIS MORNING AND THEY HAVEN'T CALLED BACK. FROM EVERYTHING THAT I'M READING ONLINE, IT IS COSTLY TO REPLACE THE STEREO. THIS SEEMS TO BE MORE THAN A "COINCIDENCE" AND VW SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

DROVE THE CAR IN THE AFTERNOON AND PARKED IT AT AN OFFICE BUILDING. GOT BACK INTO MY CAR ABOUT AN HOUR LATER AND WHEN THE CAR TURNED ON, THE RADIO WAS COMPLETELY BLACK. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AGAIN FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON 12/8/14 AT 83748 MILES, BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS AN ESP ERROR THAT FLASHED IN THE MDI DISPLAY AND THEN WENT AWAY. THE DEALER COULD NOT VERIFY THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD A SIMILAR VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE COULD ALSO NOT BE DIAGNOSED. AT THE TIME THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT I COULD HAVE THE SOFTWARE UPGRADED AND THAT WOULD BE A CHARGE TO ME OR I COULD HAVE THE INJECTORS CHANGED OUT AND THAT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE WERE CHARGING ACCORDING TO HOW THEY WERE GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT ON THE ISSUE ITSELF. VW SENT ME THE PAPERWORK IN APRIL OF 2015 TO GET MY MONEY BACK. DOOR LOCKS DON'T WORK REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM ON THREE DOORS (DRIVERS SIDE FRONT, BOTH BACK DOORS). TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT MOVED OFF THE ROADWAY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AS IT RESUMED PROPERLY. THE SEAL BETWEEN THE CONNECTORS AND THE DRAIN HOSE FOR THE SUNROOF DRAINS LEAK (THREE OF FOUR CONNECTORS), ALLOWING WATER TO RUN DOWN THE BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE A-PILLARS. THIS RESULTED IN THE AIRBAG AND ITS ASSOCIATED MOUNTS/WIRING AND HARNESS GETTING SOAKED. THE WATER CONTINUED DOWN THE A PILLARS TO COLLECT IN THE FRONT WHEEL WELLS. THE PATH OF THE WATER WAS OVER/THROUGH THE DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR JUNCTION/FUZE BLOCK. THE REAR DRAINS ALSO LEAK, CAUSING INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS. MY VW JETTA TDI STALLED WHILE COMING TO A STOP SIGN AFTER THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED. IT DID THIS OCCASIONALLY DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. AFTER A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP AND A DOZEN OR SO INCIDENTS, THE CAR STARTED TO STALL MULTIPLE TIMES DURING A ONE HALF-HOUR COMMUTE. TWICE RECENTLY, ONCE ON MY WAY TO WORK AND ONCE ON MY WAY BACK, THE CAR STALLED TWO AND THREE TIMES RESPECTIVELY. IT EVEN STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 MPH WHEN THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED. USUALLY, IT STALLS WHEN COMING TO A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN THE CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED IN ORDER TO TAKE THE CAR OUT OF GEAR. AT 12000 MILES, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES AND THEN REMAINED ON. THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER AND EGR VALVE WERE REPLACED WHICH IS HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. ALSO, AFTER MY 20000 MILE SERVICE THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN AND THE DEALER REPLACED THE #4 EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR. BEFORE THE 20K SERVICE I HAD CALLED THE DEALER THE DAY I STALLED 3 TIMES AND REPORTED MY ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER A FEW DAYS LATER, THURSDAY, FOR THE SERVICE AND THE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT BY THEN. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE ECM TO BE DONE IN ADDITION TO THE REGULAR SERVICE. I LEFT THE DEALER AFTER THE 20K SERVICE ONLY TO HAVE MY ENGINE LIGHT GO ON AGAIN AND THE CAR STALL AGAIN. SO I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THAT IS WHEN THEY CHANGED THE #4 EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR. IT DID NOT SOUND TO ME LIKE A PROPER FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AS I BELIEVE IT COULD BE EITHER AN ELECTRONIC GLITCH WITH THE ECM OR OTHER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OR SOME FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM WHEREBY FUEL FLOW IS INTERRUPTED WHEN GOING FROM LOAD TO NO LOAD SCENARIOS, I.E. CLUTCH ENGAGED. ANYHOW, I STALLED AGAIN TWO MILES FROM THE DEALER FROM WHICH I HAD DRIVEN. THE DEALER SAYS THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT OR FIND ANY CODES RELATED TO IT. THEY WILL CALL VW AGAIN.

I CANCELLED THE TOW. CAR IS RUNNING NORMALLY AGAIN. THIS SUDDEN STOPPING OF MY ENGINE HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME WHEN THE CAR HAD ABOUT 4000 MILES ON IT. I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING PLACE AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF AS I WAS PULLING FORWARD AFTER JUST HAVING PUT IT IN DRIVE. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND A FEW SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE STARTED MISFIRING, BUT ONLY FOR A SECOND. THEN IT RAN FINE. NO FURTHER MISHAPS UNTIL MAY 17, 2011 AT 17,500 MILES. I NOTIFIED VW OF THE MISHAP WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR IT'S FIRST CHECK-UP. VW SAID THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND DIDN'T KNOW WHY IT HAPPENED. I PURCHASED A 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION JETTA-TDI AT THE END OF DECEMBER OF 2009. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING MANUAL TRANSMISSION CARS SINCE 1975, AND I WAS UPSET THAT MY CAR WAS STALLING EITHER JUST STARTING OUT IN FIRST OR IN THE LOWER RPM RANGE OF THE LOWER GEARS WHEN TURNING AND MOVING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS OR TRYING TO GO UPHILL WHEN THE RPMS WERE IN THE LOWER RANGE. KEEPING THE RPMS UP A BIT SEEMS TO HAVE HELPED, AS I AM NOT HAVING IT STALL AS MUCH AS BEFORE. I ALSO NOTICED WHAT SEEMED LIKE A SLIGHT HESITATION OR JERKING WHEN CRUISING . THEN A HEARD 2 RADIO REPORTS ABOUT THE COMPLAINTS BEING FILED. I CALLED VW OF AMERICA WHO LISTENED TO MY STORY. THEY TOLD ME THAT IN ORDER TO BE COMPENSATED FOR MY ACCIDENT, THAT I WOULD HAVE NEEDED TO HAVE HAD THE CAR TOWED IMMEDIATELY TO A DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED. SHE SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE IT TO BE DIAGNOSED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO KEPT IT FOR TWO DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A WEEK LATER, I WAS COMING TO A STOP FOR A RED LIGHT AND THE RPMS BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL AND THEN IT WOULD COME BACK TO NORMAL RPMS. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER NEXT DAY; TECH REPLACED "PRESSURE PIPE" (FAULTY CHARGE PRESSURE SENSOR ON HIGH PRESSURE FILTER PUMP) AND "FLASHED" ECM. VW JETTA TDI 2010. ON FOUR OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS COMPLETELY DIED WHILE MOVING SLOWLY. (5 TO 20 MPH) EVERYTHING IN THE CAR STAYED ON. I HAD TO TURN THE KEY OFF. PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE OR AFTER THE CAR STALED OUT. NOTHING IN THE CAR TURNED OFF OR ON, EXCEPT THE RADIO AFTER I TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION. ALSO WHILE DRIVING DOOR LOCKS STARTED TO CLICK OPEN AND CLOSED AT 65 MPH. AFTER 10 MIN OF RANDOM CLICKING THE DOORS LOCKED AND STAYED LOCKED. AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. THE LIGHT WENT BACK OFF AFTER 20 MIN OR SO. HAS NOT COME BACK ON. TRANSMISSION IS GENERALLY SMOOTH, HOWEVER AT RANDOM IT IS VERY ABRUPT, EVEN DURING GRADUAL OR STEADY ACCELERATION/DECELERATION. CAR HAS ONLY ONE DRIVER. HAS ONLY EVER HAD CORRECT FUEL. VARIOUS OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BEGAN AT 300 MILES. ALL PROBLEMS ARE RANDOM. VW CONTINUALLY DISMISSES ME. IT IS GOING INTO SHOP AGAIN ON MONDAY. FROM THE SOUNDS OF IT THEY DO NOT EXPECT TO DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE CAR. JUST DRIVE IT A FEW DAYS AND SEE IF A PROBLEM HAPPENS. CAR HAS PUT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION WITH NO CONTROL. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH SHE HEARD A THROBBING NOISE COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS AND ALL OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. SHE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO USE THE RADIO. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND SHUT OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. SHE ALSO STATED THAT SHE WOULD ATTEMPT TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION BUT THE RADIO WOULD INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY A MESSAGE READING "NO CD" OR "NO MAGAZINE". A FEW MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON 3 OCCASIONS WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

2010 VW JETTA WOLFSBURG SHUT DOWN WHILE IN OPERATION ON A HIGHWAY WHILE UNABLE TO GET SAFELY OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. ENGINE SHUT OF AND I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE WITH THE KEY. WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND IN PARK THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. I EVENTUALLY REMOVED THE KEY AND REINSTALLED IT. AT THIS POINT THE ENGINE TURNED OVER AND STARTED. TOOK THE CAR TO THE VW DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS DEFECTIVE. HOWEVER IT WAS NOT A CONSTANT FAILURE AND THE CAR COULD STOP RUNNING AT ANY TIME. OTHER DEFECT WAS THE WIPER MOTOR STOPPED OPERATING AT APPROXIMATELY 1800 MILES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT WAS REVERSING 5 MPH FROM A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY WHEN THE EPS AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THE ELECTRICAL WIRING AND RE-ROUTED THE WIRING. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, SHE WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. AT A LATER DATE, WHILE SITTING IDLE WITH THE BRAKE DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY. THE CONTACT THEN ADDED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT THEN UTILIZED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL, GRADUALLY COMING TO A STOP BEFORE LIGHTLY CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. HAVE TO RELEASE FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR AND RE-APPLY IN ORDER TO GET CAR TO MOVE AHEAD; SOMETIMES IT TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE. ONCE POWER IS ESTABLISHED, THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AT FULL POWER. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 6,500 MILES. THE STALLING HAS OCCURRED WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC HEADING TOWARD US AND CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES FOR OTHER MINOR ISSUES, AND IS CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP UNDERGOING MORE RESEARCH AND WORK RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM.
