I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD WHEN I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM UNDER MY HOOD OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ONTO A SIDE STREET AND POPPED THE HOOD. THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I THEN PULLED MY PANICKED 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OUT OF HER CAR SEAT AND TOOK HER ACROSS THE STREET. WE THEN CALLED 9-11 AND THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT AND FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHERE HE SAYS THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FUEL LINE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL FOR MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT FOR MY VIN# EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME CAUSE AS MY CAR'S FIRE!

I HAVE A 2010 VW JETTA WITH 118K ON IT AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY ENGINE DIED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY CAUSING SOME SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I EVETUALLY HAD THE CAR TOWED TO NEAREST REPAIR SHOP AND THEY ESTIMATED REPAIR COST TO BE BETWEEN 4-5K RANGE TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN TENSINOR. I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH AND FOUND THOUNDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. VW SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS. VERY DISSAPONTED. WON'T BUY ANOTHER VW EVERY AGAIN.

THERE HAS BEEN A STATEWIDE LAWSUIT AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN REGARDING 2010 JETTA TIMING CHAIN AND TIMING CHAIN TENSOR. THE DEALER SHIP HAS REFUSED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE EVEN TOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. RICK CASE VOLKSWAGEN HAS REFUSED TO CHECK AN ISSUE THAT VOLKSWAGEN HAS STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF TIMING CHAIN ISSUES.

BASED ON READINGS, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MULTIPLE CARS WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND HAS RESULTED IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN.

DRIVING ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FOR GREATER THAN 30 MINUTES, THERE WAS ONSET OF STRONG RAIN CONDITIONS AT ABOUT 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING TIME -- THE EPC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WAS LOST. SYMPTOMS OF DOWNSHIFTING WERE NOTED JUST PRIOR TO ONSET OF ISSUE. DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR RESULTED IN RPM INCREASE WITH NO ACCELERATION IN RELATIVELY FAST TRAFFIC (>50MPH). WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF SAFELY AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN HIGH SPEED/STRONG RAIN CONDITIONS. EPC LIGHT TURNED OFF AFTER SHUTOFF AND RE-START, AND I ASSUMED A SLIP ON WET SURFACE. RESTARTED AND ATTEMPTED TO REJOIN TRAFFIC. TRAVELED LESS THAN 50 FEET AND EPC LIGHT RE-LIT WITH NO SLIP, FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY BY LIGHTING OF THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT. SAME LACK OF ACCELERATION AND INCREASED RPM WITH DEPRESSING THROTTLE PEDAL WAS NOTED. TURNED OFF ENGINE ON SHOULDER AGAIN AND RESTARTED AFTER FIVE MINUTE PERIOD IN ATTEMPT TO GET HOME AND WAS ABLE TO VERY CAREFULLY/SLOWLY MERGE BACK INTO TRAFFIC WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND EPC LIGHT LIT FOR ENTIRETY OF TRIP HOME (>50 MILES). VEHICLE DROVE FOR ADDITIONAL APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES WITHOUT SYMPTOMS ONSET. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 50K MILES AND IS DRIVEN ONCE EVERY WEEK OR TWO WEEKS. ALL SERVICE IS PERFORMED REGULARLY. I RESEARCHED THIS SYMPTOM SET ONLINE, ONLY TO FIND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE ACROSS THE SPECTRUM OF VW MODELS INDICATING NO PRECISE DIAGNOSIS RELATIVE TO THESE SYMPTOMS COINCIDING WITH THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OF REPAIRS IN ATTEMPT TO RECONCILE. I DO NOT CARE TO SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ATTEMPTING TO REPAIR AN ISSUE THAT CANNOT BE IDENTIFIED USING A 'TRIAL AND ERROR' METHOD ON A VEHICLE THAT KBB VALUES AT LESS THAN 5K. BASED ON MY LIMITED RESEARCH, THIS VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF RECALL. I HAVE RESEARCHED RECALLS ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND HAVE NOTED NOTHING RELATIVE.

NO MATTER WHAT I CAN NOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. I ONLY GOT THE MOTOR TO SHUT OFF BECAUSE MY SON KNEW TO PULL A FUSE AND THEN TAKE OFF A BATTERY CABLE. THIS IGNITION PROBLEM IS SERIOUS AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU CAN'T TURN OFF THE CAR.

MY WIFE'S 2010 JETTA 2.0T TSI EXPERIENCED AN ENGINE STALL AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ON A STRAIGHT SECTION OF CITY STREET. THIS WAS A ROUTINE TRIP UNDER CLEAR WEATHER CONDITIONS. WITH NO TRAFFIC BEHIND HER, SHE SAFELY COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER WAITING 5-10 MINUTES SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND, WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS APPEARING, DRIVE APPROXIMATELY FOUR MILES HOME. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRES BEGAN OCCURRING AND THE ENGINE WAS IMMEDIATELY SHUTOFF AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE STALL WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILING, WHICH ALLOWED THE TIMING CHAIN TO SKIP SIX TEETH ON THE CAMSHAFT AND THE VALVES TO CONTACT THE PISTONS RESULTING IN THE ENGINE SELF-DESTRUCTING. THEY RECOMMENDED A NEARLY COMPLETE ENGINE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF OVER $8,000. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2009 AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED IMPECCABLY AS SPECIFIED BY VW. SPEAKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP ENGINE TECHNICIAN, WE LEARNED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER IS A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART BY VW AND THAT IN 2011-2012, WAS REVISED SEVERAL TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO MITIGATE THE FAILURES. A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED BY VW TO DEALERSHIPS AND SERVICE DEPARTMENTS EXPLAINING THE ISSUE BUT NO NOTICES OR RECALLS WERE SENT TO CUSTOMERS INFORMING THEM OF THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY COMPONENT FAILURE. I HAVE READ, BUT NOT INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED, THAT VW HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC COMPONENT IN EUROPE. SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2016, AND OWING TO THE SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD, AS MANY AS THREE CLASS-ACTION LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN FOR THIS SPECIFIC COMPONENT FAILURE. WE ARE THANKFUL NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED WHEN THE CAR STALLED DURING OPERATION, BUT NOW WE ARE FACING OVER $8,000 IN REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS AVAILABLE.

CAR KEPT STALLING AFTER TAKE OFF WHEN YOU ACCELERATED. WHEN TAKING IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP IT WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED THERE. WHEN THEY GOT IT THEY DISCOVERED ALL BUT 1 QUART OF THE OIL IN THE ENGINE WAS GONE. THEY DETERMINED THAT THIS MALFUNCTION DAMAGED THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. HAVE THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 3-5000 MILES AND IT WASN'T DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE FOR ANOTHER 1000 MILES OR SO. THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS HAPPENED AND VOLKSWAGEN WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ALL OF THIS TOOK PLACE IN THE CITY. WE WERE TO AFRAID TO TAKE IT OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR HAS 109000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN A LEMON FROM DAY 1. THIS WAS JUST THE ICING THAT TOPPED THE CAKE.

I WAITED AND ATTEMPTED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED, DROVE 500 FEET TO THE GAS STATION, FILLED WITH DIESEL. THE LIGHT THEN CAME ON AFTER I STARTED IT AGAIN. I CHECKED THE CODE, P2015. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO DORSCHEL VW IN HENRIETTA, NY. THEY CONFIRMED THE CODE SAID THE INTAKE MANIFOLD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. SAYING THE FLAP IS DAMAGED AND THEN SWITCHING TO SAY THE RUNNER IS DAMAGED. MOST OF THE TSI ENGINES HAVE HAD THEIR WARRANTY EXTENDED, BUT NOT FOR MY TDI. THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHERS COMPLAINING OF THIS CODE POPPING UP.

WHILE EXCELERATING FROM A RED LIGHT MY CAR WENT INTO "LIMP MODE" AND LOST MOST OF ITS POWER. I COULD NOT DRIVE FASTER THAN 40 MPH OR 2400 RPM. I CONTACTED VW DEALER AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN WHICH WAS ONLY 8 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. ENROUTE TO DEALERSHIP MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED WHICH CAUSED MY TURBO TO ALSO FAIL. THE FUEL IN THE TANK WAS NOT CONTAMINATED, THIS WAS JUST A FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM.

MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS BY MYSELF AND A TOW TRUCK WERE UNABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED. AFTER EXTENSIVE TROUBLESHOOTING, THE DEALER DETERMINED MY ENGINE CONTROL MODULE HAD FAILED AND HAD SHUT ALL POWER TO MY FUEL INJECTORS. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT TRAVELING VERY FAST AT THE TIME NOR WAS THERE ANY SURROUNDING TRAFFIC. THIS COST ~$2000 TO REPAIR.

THE CAR WAS ATTEMPTED TO BE STARTED AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT IN A GARAGE. THE CAR SUCCESSFULLY TURNED OVER, BUT WAS IN A VERY ROUGH IDLE FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE STALLING. CAR COULD NOT BE RUN CONTINUOUSLY AT ALL AT THIS POINT. THIS PROBLEM BEGAN TO OCCUR AROUND 80,000 MILES, WITH NO INITIAL PERFORMANCE IMPACT, BUT THE PART ULTIMATELY HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 88,000 MILES WHEN THE INCIDENT DESCRIBED ABOVE OCCURRED.

WRITTEN ON THE ESTIMATE BY VW DEALERSHIP IS "TECHNICIAN NOTED THAT WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP, VEHICLE HAD NO THROTTLE CONTROL AND WOULD NOT INCREASE IN ENGINE SPEED. TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY AND EXHAUST PRESSURE SENDER. IN BETWEEN THE 60,000 MILES AND NOW 113,000 THE CAR HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED TO HAVE THE EGR VALVE, DPF FILTER, ALL SENSORS,. NOX AND SOX BURNERS TO BE REPLACED AT A TOTAL COST OF $10,000 DOLLARS. WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE DPF FILTER WOULD ONLY COST US $1000 DOLLARS TO REPLACE, TRY $4000 JUST FOR IT. WE HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF THE CARE AND FEEL THAT VW HAS MISREPRESENTED THEMSELVES IN THE VAULE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE UPFRONT REPAIRS. THEY TOLD ME IT FAILS EVERY 100-110K MILES AND HAS TO BE FIXED! I TOLD THEM I WOULD TAKE IT ELSEWHERE TO GET FIXED AS I WASN'T PAYING THAT KIND OF MONEY. THEY INFORMED ME NO LOCAL SHOP WOULD TOUCH IT. THAT IS NOT TRUE OTHER THAN THE LOCAL SHOP HAD TO BRING IT TO THEM FOR THE "SOFTWARE RESET". I HAVE SINCE LEARNED IT MAY AFFECT LATER MODELS BUT CANNOT CONFIRM. THE DEALER WANTED $2300 TO FIX PLUS TAX.

I THINK VW SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON AT 90K MILES. MY MECHANIC RESET LIGHT TWICE. I EVENTUALLY TOOK IT TO VW AND GAVE THEM A COPY OF THE SERVICE BULLETIN, PROVIDED BY MECHANIC.VW INSISTED IT WAS BOTH EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSORS AT $607 THIS WAS WRONG, LIGHT ON IN 4 DAYS. COST TO REPLACE THE PF IS $6.2K. AT 100K MILES THIS CAR HAS COST ME $9,863 FOR VW SCHLD. MAINT.. REPAIRS THAT VW RECOMMENDS TO BE DONE TO THIS CAR. VW CUSTOMER RELATIONS SAID NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND SUGGESTED I GO TO NHTSA. 1. VW ADVERTISED TDI ENGINE AS THE CLEANEST EMISSIONS IN THE WORLD! 2, WE EXPECTED PAY-OFF THROUGH EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE AND LOW COST OWNERSHIP. AT 100K MILES A DEISEL SHOULD JUST BE BREAKING IN. THE CAR AFFECTED IS A 2010 VW JETTA TDI. EVER SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR, IT HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH RUNNING RUFF OR STALLING OUT. AT 30,426 MILES I HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN AGAIN FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON 12/8/14 AT 83748 MILES, BUT THIS TIME THERE WAS AN ESP ERROR THAT FLASHED IN THE MDI DISPLAY AND THEN WENT AWAY. THE DEALER COULD NOT VERIFY THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD A SIMILAR VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE COULD ALSO NOT BE DIAGNOSED. AT THE TIME THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT I COULD HAVE THE SOFTWARE UPGRADED AND THAT WOULD BE A CHARGE TO ME OR I COULD HAVE THE INJECTORS CHANGED OUT AND THAT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE WERE CHARGING ACCORDING TO HOW THEY WERE GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM, NOT ON THE ISSUE ITSELF. VW SENT ME THE PAPERWORK IN APRIL OF 2015 TO GET MY MONEY BACK. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE MDI DISPLAY, BUT WAS NOT SURE THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. DOING SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT VW HAS A TSB TO CORRECT INTERCOOLER ICING, WHICH INVOLVES REPLACING THE ORIGINAL FACTORY UNIT WITH A NEW INTERCOOLER DESIGN. AS I LOOKED ON VW FORUMS, I FOUND THAT MANY DRIVERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR UNPREDICTABLE FAILURE DUE TO INTERCOOLER ICING. WHEN I REQUESTED VW CORRECT THIS DESIGN FLAW AT THEIR EXPENSE, THEY REFUSED, CLAIMING THE VEHICLE IS OFF WARRANTY. I WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO LOOK INTO THIS, AS I FEEL VW NEEDS TO EITHER MAKE A SAFETY RECALL, OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM ON ANY CAR ON WHICH IT OCCURS. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY ORDEAL. IF I DID NOT HAVE MY WITS ABOUT ME I COULD HAVE ENDED IN THE WOODS, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO NAVIGATE THE S TURN. WHEN I CONTACTED VOLKSWAGEN THEY WHERE WILLING TO PAY 75% OF THE COST EVEN THOUGH I REQUESTED THAT THEY SHOULD COVER THE WHOLE REPAIR. REGARDLESS, I AM CONCERNED WHAT HAPPENED TO ME COULD HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE WITH A LESS FAVORABLE OUTCOME. WHAT IF THIS HAPPEN WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION? SHOWED ERROR CODE G450 AND THE "EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR 1" WAS REPLACED BY DEALER IN JANUARY 2014. GLOW PLUG LIGHT ALSO CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY AT THAT TIME. TWO MONTHS LATER (FEBRUARY, 2014), "GLOW PLUG LIGHT" CAME ON AGAIN INTERMITTENTLY. TURNED OFF CAR AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND LIGHT WENT OUT. DEALER SAYS P0237 CODE MEANS INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF "BOOST PRESSURE SENSOR" AND "SENSOR HARNESS". VW ADVISES THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE DUE TO UNPREDICTABLE PERFORMANCE OF TURBOCHARGER ON ENGINE PERFORMANCE DUE TO FAILURE OF THIS SENSOR. WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 VW JETTA TDI AT 45 MPH THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH WITH NO WARNING AND ENGINE POWER BECAME DRAMATICALLY REDUCED. I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED ON A BUSY ROADWAY AND WAS FORCED TO MAKE AN ABRUPT EXIT FROM THE ROAD TO AVOID CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. USING BACK ROADS WITH LOW SPEED LIMITS I WAS ABLE TO REACH A VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP. AFTER ARRIVING THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. AFTER 3 DAYS OF INSPECTION IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND THE METAL SHAVINGS FROM THE FAILED PUMP CONTAMINATED THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM AND CLOGGED IT WITH RUST. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA COVERED THE COST OF THE REPAIR WHICH ENTAILED REPLACING THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE TYPE OF HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP INSTALLED ON MY CAR WHICH IS WHY VWOA WAS COVERING THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. DEALER CALLED ME THE NEXT DAY SAYING MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND MY ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM FROM THE GAS TANK ON UP TO THE INJECTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND DEALER WAS VERY HELPFUL AND DID THE JOB IN FOUR DAYS, DURING T-GIVING WEEK, WHICH I WAS VERY SATISFIED WITH. I ALWAYS GET MY DIESEL AT BP AMOCO'S OR MOBILES AND MAKE SURE TO USE HEAVILY TRAFFICKED STATION TO HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF GETTING FRESH FUEL. I ASKED THE DEALER AT THE TIME ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES VW WILL NOT WARRANTY THE CAR IF ANYTHING MORE THAN 5% BIODIESEL IS USED. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2010 VW JETTA S/W TDI DSG HOME FROM WORK AND SHE NOTICED THAT IT SEEMED TO BE RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGHER THEN USUAL (IN DECEMBER WHEN WE HAD THE 40K SERVICE DONE WE WERE TOLD THAT IT NEEDED A FUEL FILTER AND THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM...IT DID FOR ABOUT A WEEK OR SO). WHEN SHE SLOWED DOWN FOR TRAFFIC THE RPM'S WOULD FLUCTUATE BETWEEN 500 RPMS AND 1400 RPMS AND NEARLY STALLING AT TIMES. FINALLY WHEN SHE GOT OFF THE EXIT RAMP NEAR HOME, THE JETTA STALLED AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE SHE WAS HOME I FOUND THAT IT WAS READING CODE P0263. THE JETTA WENT TO DEALER ON 3/13 AND WE GOT IT BACK ON 3/22. UNFORTUNATELY IT STALLED OUT ON MY WIFE ON 3/23 AFTER A SHORT TRIP ACROSS TOWN WHILE DROPPING MY SON OFF AT HIS FRIENDS HOUSE. SHE PRECEDED TO COME HOME AFTER DROPPING HIM OFF AS THE STALLING ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A TURN AND SHE WAS NEARLY BROADSIDED BY A SUV! HAD THE VEHICLES COLLIDED, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIRECT IMPACT TO MY WIFE AND SON'S SEATS! THE NEXT MORNING I TOOK THE JETTA OUT FOR A DRIVE TO SEE IF I COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND BOY DID I EVER. THANKFULLY THE DEALER IS CLOSE BY AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR THERE BUT NOT WITHOUT ISSUES. IT STALLED OUT ON ME 4 TIMES IN THE 1.5 MILE TRIP. I TOO WAS NEARLY HIT BY AN ON COMING CAR WHILE MAKING A TURN. NOT TO MENTION IT STALLED WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY GETTING TO THE DEALERSHIP. DURING THE FIRST VISIT FOR THE STALLING PROBLEM, VW HAD THE DEALER DRAIN MY FULL TANK OF DIESEL AS THEY THOUGHT I USED BAD FUEL AND THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. NEXT THEY REPROGRAMMED THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SO VW HAD THE DEALER REPLACE A FUEL REGULATOR VALVE AND THAT DID NOT WORK AS WELL. AFTER TWO MORE TIMES OF REPROGRAMMING THE FUEL INJECTORS THE LIGHT APPARENTLY WENT OUT A SO VW OF AMERICA AND THE DEALER FELT IT WAS FIXED AND SAFE FOR US TO DRIVE. I THINK NOT! *TR

I PULLED OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND ACHIEVED A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 30MPH. THE CAR CONTINUED TO MAKE THE NOISE AND BEGAN TO LOSE POWER WITHIN A HALF MILE. I PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT OF A SHOPPING CENTER AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALER, WALLACE IMPORTS OF JOHNSON CITY, TN. IT TOOK THEM APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 WEEKS TO GET THE PARTS IN AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE EXPLAINED TO MY HUSBAND THAT THERE WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, WHICH RESULTED IN METAL FRAGMENTS CONTAMINATING THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. AS A RESULT, HE WAS TOLD THAT EVERY PART WHICH CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE FUEL HAD TO BE REPLACED, INCLUDING THE FUEL TANK, FUEL LINES, FILTERS, FUEL INJECTORS, AND MANY OTHERS. THERE WAS A TWO PAGE LIST OF THE PARTS USED TO FIX MY CAR. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN RESULTING IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION. FURTHER, WE ALSO HAVE 2010 JETTA TDI SPORTSWAGEN AND HAVE CONCERNS OF THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SINCE MY HUSBAND ROUTINELY MAKE ROUND TRIPS OF 230 MILES AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK TRAVELING MAINLY ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR

I PURCHASED MY BRAND NEW VW JETTA FROM THE DEALERSHIP LOT. LESS THAN 4 WEEKS LATER WHEN THE CAR WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY I STARTED IT, AND AS I PRESSED THE GAS DOWN THE CAR BEGAN TO MOVE (IN A SPUTTERING/JERKING TYPE OF MOVEMEN)T BUT IT WAS NOT ABLE TO GO MORE THAN 7 FEET BEFORE IT STALLED OUT,, AND THE RPM'S WERE HIGH AND THE CAR JUST MOVED LIKE IT WAS NOT ABLE TO PROPERLY ACCELERATE, IT STALLED OUT BEFORE THE END OF MY DRIVE WAY. I STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT DROVE PROPERLY, THIS EXACT INCIDENT OCCURRED AT LEAST1- 2 TIMES A WEEK ON A COLD START. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, NOTHING FOUND ON DIAGNOSTICS.THEN AT LEAST EVERY 1-2 MONTHS I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, NO PROOF ON DIAGNOSTICS .NEXT A RECALL & WORK WAS DONE. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND A SOLUTION BECAUSE ITS NOT REPEATING THE STALLING WHEN ITS AT DEALERSHIP. I AM STILL HAVING THE ISSUE OF MY CAR STALLING OUT WHEN DRIVING, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. IT IS DANGEROUS DRIVING A CAR THAT STALLS OUT WHILE YOU ARE ON THE ROAD. SINCE THE COLD START ISSUES I HAVE ALSO HAD IT STALL OUT ON THE ROAD, IN AN INTERSECTION. THIS CAR IS STILL REPEATING THE STALLING. I CANNOT GET ANY ANSWERS ON HOW TO FIX IT DUE TO NO "PROOF" ON DIAGNOSTICS CHECK. I FEEL UNSAFE IN MY CAR. IT STARTS TO ACCELERATE THEN SHUTS OFF. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND HASNT EVER BEEN PROPERLY FIXED EVEN THOUGHVW CORPORATE HAS A CASE ON THE ISSUES OF MY CAR. *TT

I'M WAS DRIVING UP HILLS WITH 38 MPH NOTICE THAT GLOW PLUG LIGHT FLASHING THE CAR LOST ALL POWER ALMOST INSTANTLY. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO MANAGED THE CAR TO EMERGENCY LANE. LUCKY THAT I'M NOT ON THE FREEWAY AND I DIDN'T HAVE MY 6 YEARS OLD SON WITH ME AT THAT TIME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT WE NEED TO ADDRESS TO VWGOA SO THEY CAN DO A RECALL. YOU CAN FIND 100 OR MORE SAME FAILURES AT WWW.TDICLUB.COM, SOME OF THE MEMBER HAD TO REPLACED THE HPFP TWICE. DEALER FOUND HPFP FAILURES. METAL FOUND IN THE FUEL PUMP DUE TO HPFP SELF-DESTRUCTION. REPAIRED AND PAID FOR BY VW. REPLACED THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM, TANK, 3 FUEL PUMPS, ALL LINES AND HOSES. *TR
