I recently bought a 2011 volkswagen jetta tdi last owner wasn't aware of recalls, car started throwing white smoke, my local service mecanics NORTHWEST EXPRESS AUTO CARE let me know that the problem is a recall on emission need to fix but dealer don't want to do it
It's the transmission when the mph needle just Bob's constantly, when sometime up to 60 mph the rps stays above the three for at least 15 sec before sometimes going down others have to push the gas pedal fast to shift gears. Constant thud sound from the motor and more condensation then should be coming from tailpipe.the odor coming from the air vents is absolutely nauseating.
The car turns off while driving and it has put me in several safety problems that I feel could an accident
Car randomly stalls while driving and shuts off without warning in the middle of the road. Immediately is able to turn back on without issues. Took to mechanic and they couldn't find any issues and said the car had zero error codes. This has happened multiple times while driving low speeds, usually when driving stop and go with street lights
My car would randomly stall while driving, happens both when braking and not braking. When it stalls steering wheel locks up, cannot press gas pedal, and brakes stop working almost. This is incredibly dangerous because while on a road at 50mph+ and my car suddenly stops it can cause a serious accident. The dealer has been able to reproduce it multiple times, and has said it is a common problem. The only warning light that switched on was the battery light after it had stalled. Currently at the VW dealership and was told that it was the fuel filter, was not the problem and car continued to stall more. Not only was a good part replaced but created an even more dangerous situation than before.
This Jetta Sportwagen TDI is one of the "diesel gate" vehicles that was supposedly fixed. However, post fix, the vehicle has been at the dealership for repairs more than it has been on the road for various emissions related issues revolving around the exhaust gas recirculation system and diesel particulate filter. Vehicle is washed regularly, including scrubbing of the chaise pipe ends with heavy duty soot cleaning solution. vehicle takes less than a week to collect enough soot on the tailpipe to cause transference to finger when whipped. This is an indication that an excessive amount of soot is not being properly recirculated by the exhaust gas recirculating system to be rebut in the diesel particulate filter. This also indicates that the "fix" for the cheating emissions system is not doing its job and vehicle is likely emitting particulate and NOX at levels far above legal limits.
AFTER DRIVING FOR 1 HOUR OR MORE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE POWER TO ACCELERATE WHEN DRIVING AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND LOSES CONTROL OF THE SPEED. AFTER DRIVING 3 HOURS OR MORE, THE CAR WILL DO THE SAME WHILE STILL ON THE HIGHWAY. THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND BECOMES IMMEDIATELY DANGEROUS.

DRIVING THIS VW JETTA TDI 2011 ON THE 605 FREEWAY SOUTH IN LONG BEACH WHEN THE YELLOW GLOW PLUG LIGHT STARTED LINKING. CAR LOST POWER. WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, I ROLLED OUT OF THE FREEWAY TO AN EXIT. AFTER THIS ENGINE STOPPED. CAR WOULD NOT START ANYMORE.I CALLED VW CARE TO START A CLAIM BECAUSE THIS CAR BELONGS TO THE DIESEL GATE SCANDAL. TO MY BAD LUCK, I FOUND OUT A FEW WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR, 12/17/2019, THAT THEY HAD MANY REPAIRS MADE AND ALSO THAT THE FUEL PUMP WILL GO BAD AND THE REPAIR COST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THE LADY OF VW CARE, (800)822-8987 TOLD ME THAT MY WARRANTY FOR THE FUEL PUMP EXPIRED AT 174,620. SHE ASKED ME WHATS THE CURRENT MILEAGE. THAT IS 174,847. SO SHE SAID MY CAR IS NOT COVERED ANY MORE. I STILL ASKED HER TO PUT IN A CLAIM. SHE GAVE ME THE FOLLOWING CLAIM NUMBER:[XXX]. I JUST FEEL VERY SUSPICIOUS AFTER THEY HID SO MUCH INFORMATION BEFORE DURING THE SCANDAL FOR MY CAR TO DIE EXACTLY A FEW HUNDRED MILES AFTER THIS WARRANTY EXPIRES. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THESE CARS OUT THERE. CAN SOMEONE INVESTIGATE BECAUSE WHY WILL MY CAR DIE EXACTLY A FEW MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRE. THE CAR WOULD DRIVE WELL, BUT WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE AND PRESS GAS, THE CAR WOULDN'T REACT RIGHT AWAY, IT WOULD ACCELERATE SLOWLY AND KICK-IN I SECOND GEAR. THEN THE GEARS INDICATOR (PRND123) DISAPPEARS. I CHANGED THE MAP SENSOR AND WORKS GOOD FOR 3 OR 4 DAY. AFTER THIS THE PROBLEM RETURNS. I SAW A TECHNICAL BULLETIN FROM VOLKSWAGEN COMPANY AND THIS BULLETIN SAYS THAT THE CAR NEEDS AN UPDATE PROGRAMMING. I CALLED TO MY CONCESSIONARY AND THEY SAYS THAT I MUST TO PAY, FIRST FOR THE DIAGNOSIS, AND SECOND FOR THIS UPDATE. I HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATING ABOUT THIS TROUBLE AND TOO MANY OWNERS OF VOLKSWAGEN VEHICLES PRESENTS THIS FAULT, INCLUDING USA AND MEXICO. VW JETTA 2011 HAS BEEN DYING WHEN IDLING, IN PARK AND WHILE DECELERATING. IT WILL BE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND JUST LOSE POWER. IT HAS TO THEN BE PUT IN PARK AND THE KEY MUST BE TURNED TO COME BACK ON. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. RECENTLY, IT HAPPENED COMING OFF THE HIGHWAY GOING 45 MPH. CAR HAD TO COAST AND THE BRAKES WERE RIDDEN TO A STOP WHERE CAR HAD TO BE TURNED BACK ON. DEALERSHIP HAS ALLEGEDLY REPLACED ISSUES WITH THE EPC LIGHT COMING ON, TIMING BELT AND FELL PUMP. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THOUSANDS HAVE BEEN SPENT ON THIS ISSUE AND THE CAR KEEPS DYING. IT CURRENTLY HAS 115K MILES ON IT. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WHEN PUMPING GAS AT A GAS STATION. EVERY TIME THE CAR IS FILLED UP, IT WILL NOT STAY THE FIRST TIME TURNING THE KEY. THE GAS PEDAL MUST BE PRESSED A NUMBER OF TIME FOR THE ENGINE TO TURN OVER AND THEN THE GAS PEDAL MUST BE PUMPED TO KEEP THE ENGINE ON. RANDOMLY DYING ON THE HIGHWAY, ON CITY STREETS AND IN INTERSECTION IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WILL RESULT IN DAMAGE TO CARS, INJURIES AND DEATHS.

AFTER REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP AND CRANK SHAFT SENSOR THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. BESIDES THE PROBLEM I HAVE REPORTED ABOUT THE CAR SPUTTERING LOOSING POWER AND EVEN STALLING ONCE ITS ON 1/4 TANK. NOW I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ALTERNATOR CHARGING THE BATTERY. I REPLACE THE MUTLI FUSE, AND THE ALTERNATOR. ITS STILL NOT CHARGING. I HAD THE OLD ALTERNATOR TESTED AND IT WORKS. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT ELSE IT COULD BE, MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ARE VERY DANGEROUS AND WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS RESOLVED.

TAKATA RECALL. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AFTER SEATING FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR, IT TAKES AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF CRANKING BEFORE THE ENGINE FIRES. 10 PLUS SECONDS. ONE ITS RUNNING IT USUALLY DRIVES WITHOUT ISSUES UNTIL YOU GET TO 5/16-1/4 TANK. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT STARTS TO LOOSE POWER. THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO SHUT OFF. IT LOOSES POWER, GAINS AND LOOSE POWER CAUSING IT TO SPUTTER AND LOOSE CONTROL. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IT IS BACK TO NORMAL. THEN PROCEEDS TO HAPPEN SPORADICALLY USUALLY EVERY COUPLE MILES UNTIL IT GETS FILL IT UP. THIS HAPPENS ON CITY ROADS AND HIGHWAY. I FILL THE TANK UP AND I ONLY GET ON AVERAGE 10 GALLONS INTO THE TANK, SO I KNOW ITS NOT OUT OF GAS. I HAVE HAD THE FUEL PUMP TEST NUMEROUS TIMES BY DIFFERENT MECHANICS. ALL OF THEM SAID ITS NOT LOOSING PRESSURE, AND IT PRIMES WHEN THE DRIVERS DOOR OPENS LIKE IT SHOULD. AFTER READING ONLINE I HAVE NOTICED MANY JETTA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND CAN NOT SEEM TO GET IT FIXED. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING CAUSE IT CAN CUT POWER AT ANY MOMENT AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPEN SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN IF IT FALLS BELOW THE 5/16 A TANK. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK LAST THURSDAY (07/28/16) THE CAR STALLED AND ROLLED TO A STOP. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND HE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND POSSIBLY THE INJECTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAD JUST UNDER 1/4 TANK OF DIESEL FUEL AT THE TIME. THERE WERE NO ERROR LIGHTS OR OTHER INDICATION OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL AT THE MECHANIC, HE INDICATED THAT THE PARTS ARE $900 AND LABOR WILL BE ADDITIONAL. DEPENDING ON WHAT HE FINDS AS HE DOES THE REPAIR. HE INDICATED THAT THE INJECTORS MAY BE DAMAGED WHICH WOULD ADD AN ADDITIONAL $1000 FOR PARTS PLUS LABOR. I DIDN'T TAKE THE CAR TO VW BECAUSE I DON'T TRUST THEM. THE AC FAILED LAST MONTH AND THEY WANTED $1900 FOR THE REPAIR, I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HAD IT REPAIRED FOR $800. THEY BILLED ME $200 TO TELL ME THE AC WAS BAD. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 40,000 MILE ON IT. I DON'T HAVE THE REPAIR INVOICES AT THIS TIME. UP TO THE TIME OF THE AC FAILURE ALL WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED BY VW.

PUSHED CAR OUT OF INTERSECTION TO SIDE SHOULDER. CAR TOWED TO FOX VW OF ROCHESTER HILLS MI. VW AUTHORIZED WARRANTY CLAIM ON REPLACEMENT OF ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AND CAR RETURNED. CAR SMELLED OF DIESEL IN THE INTERIOR COMPARTMENT. SMELL DID NOT LESSEN AFTER 1 WEEK EVEN WITH WINDOWS OPEN TO AIR OUT. RETURNED VEHICLE TO FOX VW. FOX VW STATED THAT THERE WAS A SPILL AT THE ACCESS TO THE FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT UNDER THE SEAT. THE SPILL WAS CLEANED UP AND VEHICLE RETURNED. DIESEL SMELL WAS LESS. FAST FORWARD 3 MONTHS TO NOVEMBER 2015, RETURNED CAR FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY SERVICE FOR GLOW PLUG REPLACEMENT AT PURCHASING DEALER IN PENNSYLVANIA (THREE RIVERS VW), DEALER SERVICE TECHNICIANS DISCOVERED AND DOCUMENTED MULTIPLE FUEL SYSTEM LEAKS WITH INCORRECTLY INSTALLED COMPONENTS. FUEL WAS PRESENT ON TOP OF ENGINE, HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HOUSING AND FUEL FILTER HOUSING. TRAVELED IN THIS CAR WITH NEWBORN DAUGHTER AND 4YO SON MULTIPLE TIMES WITH LONG ROAD TRIPS IN THE TIME FROM THE FUEL SMELL COMPLAINT TO THREE RIVERS VW FINDING THE LEAKING FUEL. THREE RIVERS VW REPAIRED VEHICLE WITH AUTHORIZATION FROM VW AMERICA.

THE DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR ANALYZED THE FUEL SYSTEM, AND RULED THAT OUT. HE FOUND A BAD FUSE RELATED TO THE FUEL PUMP, AND CLAIMS AT THIS TIME THAT IT IS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. AT THIS TIME, THE EXACT CAUSE REMAINS UNKNOWN. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT WE'VE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, THOUGH THE PREVIOUS TWO TIMES THE DEALERS CLAIMED THAT IT WAS A FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FAILED. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO A HIGHWAY FROM AN ON RAMP. WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GO OVER 25 MILES PER HOUR. BROUGHT TO NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD ESSENTIALLY DISINTEGRATED AND THERE ARE METAL SHARDS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM, WHICH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. FUEL SAMPLE SENT TO VW FOR TESTING. AWAITING TO HEAR FROM DEALER WHETHER OR NOT THIS WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.

DEALERSHIP DETERMINED IT WAS A FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE(METAL IN THE SYSTEM) AND SENT THE FUEL TO BE TESTED. TEST RESULT SAID INSUFFICIENT LUBRICANT IN FUEL, THEREFORE REPAIRS NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP INFORMED US THAT WE NEEDED TO BE USING "TOPTIER" DIESEL. WE RESEARCHED THIS (HAVING NEVER BEEN TOLD THIS BEFORE) AND REALIZED WE HAD PURCHASED DIESEL FROM A "TOPTIER" LISTED STATION (SHELL). I LOST ACCELERATION AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO THE SHOULDER SAFELY AND TURN OFF THE CAR. I SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES CONTEMPLATING IF I SHOULD CALL AAA TO GET A TOW TO THE DEALER. SEEING AS I WAS ONLY ABOUT 5 MILES FROM THE VW DEALER, I DECIDED TO SEE IF MY CAR WILL MAKE IT THERE. IT STARTED BACK UP NO PROBLEM AND I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE BACK INTO TRAFFIC AND MAKE IT TO THE DEALER WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE REP. AND THEY CHECKED IN MY CAR AND I WAITED FOR THEM TO CALL ME WITH THE ISSUE. LATER IN THE DAY, I RECEIVED THE CALL FROM THE SERVICE REP., AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED, AND THEY WILL HAVE TO REBUILD THE FUEL SYSTEM, AS THERE WERE METAL PARTICLES FOUND IN THE GAS AND GAS LINES. HE SAID THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WHEN A CUSTOMER MAY USE BIODIESEL FUEL OR A LOWER GRADE OF DIESEL. HE ALSO SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO SEND THE GAS SAMPLES OFF TO VW LAB TO REVIEW IN ORDER FOR THE REPAIRS TO BE APPROVED SINCE I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I AM SHOCKED THAT THIS OCCURED, SEEING AS MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 50K MILES ON IT. THANKFULLY, THERE WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT AND NO ONE WAS HURT.

THE CAR RAN FINE FOR 2 DAYS UNTIL THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. THIS OCCURRED ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY ABOUT EVERY 1-2 DAYS FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THREE TRIPS TO THE MECHANIC WITHIN THOSE 2 WEEKS AND WITH EACH VISIT THERE WAS A COMPUTER CONNECTED TO THE CAR AND A FULL SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC REPORTED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. IT BECAME DANGEROUS FOR ME TO DRIVE THE CAR AND EVEN MORE SO TO DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER THE SECOND WEEK THE LIGHTS FINALLY CAME ON AND STAYED ON AND THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE ENGINE MISFIRING IN 2 OF THE CYLINDERS. THE MECHANIC CHANGED WITH THE IGNITION COIL ON 12/15.2014. THE ENGINE RAN COMPLETELY FINE WITHOUT ANY ISSUES UNTIL LAST WEEK, 3/19/2015. AT 3 MONTHS AND ONLY 28,000 MILES ON THE CAR THE SAME PROBLEM STARTED TO REOCCUR WHILE GETTING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM 40-45MPH. THE CAR WAS RUNNING BUT OBVIOUSLY NOT GOOD. IT LACKED ANY POWER,COULD BARELY PULL ITSELF UP A HILL UNLESS YOU DOWN SHIFTED. IT FINALLY DIED AT A INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT RESTART. I GOT MY TRUCK AND TRAILER AND TOWED IT TO THE DEALER WHO STATED IT HAD SUFFERED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP CATISTROPHIC FAILURE.... WHEN THEY CALLED THEY STATED IT WAS GOOD AND BAD NEWS. BAD NEWS IT WAS GOING TO BE 2-3 WEEKS IN THE SHOP. GOOD NEWS IS, THERE IS SO MUCH DAMAGE (6500.00) WORTH THAT VW IS PAYING FOR ALL THE REPAIRS PLUS I HAVE A LOANER CAR. THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEMS HAS TO BE REPLACED. 1 IN TANK FUEL PUMP AND PRE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND THE PRIMARY HPFP THE ONE THAT SELF IMPLODED THE INJECTORS, AND ALL THE FUEL LINES AND FILTERS. REASON IS THE METAL PARTS THAT FLOATED THRU THE SYSTEM COULD BLOCK ANY PART OF THE FUEL SYSTEM OR BE HUNG UP AND IF SO, COULD RETURN TO THE FUEL TANK AND BE PUMPED BACK IN. WITH SUCH CLOSE TOLERANCES ANY THING COULD INTURN RE-DESTROY THE SYSTEM SO TOTAL REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IN 35 YEARS I WAS LEFT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHILE I WAS STILL AT THE VW SERVICE CENTER IN OCALA, I CALLED VW USA, WHO CLAIMS THEY ARE NOT HAVING ANY PROBLEMS WITH THESE PUMPS AND ASKED WHERE I GOT THIS INFORMATION. I HAD TO DEMAND TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR WHICH THEY WOULD NOT LET ME TALK TOO. THE REP PUT ME ON HOLD TO SPEAK WITH THEM. FINALLY SHE CAME BACK AND SAID SHE WAS JUST MADE AWARE OF SOMETHING THAT I NEED TO GO TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND SPEAK WITH HIM. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO, MY ENGINE BEGAN TO GIVE A CLEAR SENSE OF THE CAR SHUDDERING OR ROCKING BACK AND FORTH. WHILE SOMETIMES THE FEELING WOULD OCCUR EVEN WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT, THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE TIME THIS OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT CONSISTENT LOW SPEEDS. IN ALMOST ALL CASES, I WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT SPEED AROUND EITHER 13PMH OR 30 MPH. EVENTUALLY, I FOUND THE ROCKING MOTION VERY EASY TO REPRODUCE. I'D SET THE CAR TO 30 MPH VIA CRUISE CONTROL AND DRIVE DOWN A STRAIGHT ROAD WITH VERY SLIGHT UPWARD AND DOWNWARD SLOPES. WHILE IT HAPPENS EVEN ON FLAT GROUND, I FOUND THAT A SLIGHT DECLINE IS MOST LIKELY TO REPRODUCE THE FEELING. MY BEST GUESS IS THAT THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT THE WAY THE FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM/TRANSMISSION IS TRYING TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT DIESEL NEEDS TO BE SUPPLIED TO THE ENGINE. THE FUEL SUPPLY SYSTEM SEEMS TO ALMOST CUT OUT BECAUSE GIVING DIESEL WOULD PRODUCE A SPEED TOO HIGH, AND THEN IT COMES BACK ON SUDDENLY, BECAUSE GIVING IT NO DIESEL WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO SLOW TOO MUCH. WHILE SOMETIMES THIS IS SIMPLY A NUISANCE, I HAVE HAD ON MANY OCCASIONS FELT THAT IT WAS A GENUINE SAFETY HAZARD SINCE I COULDN'T PREDICT HOW THE ENGINE WOULD REACT. THIS IN COMBINATION WITH OVERLY STRONG ENGINE BREAK WHEN LETTING OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR AND DELAYED ACCELERATION WHEN STEPPING ON THE PEDDLE THAT CAN CAUSE INCONSISTENCIES AND SAFETY HAZARDS WHEN MANEUVERING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. I'VE MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM EVERY SINGLE TIME I'VE TAKEN MY CAR IN FOR IT'S REGULARLY SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. I COULD HAVE BEEN GOING 65 ON THE FREEWAY WITH A SMALL CHILD OR OTHER PEOPLE IN THE CAR, ALL OF WHOM COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN CAR SUDDENLY LOOSES ALL POWER AND MOMENTUM. MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN NEW ORLEANS (CENTER LANE) WHEN GLOW PLUG LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND NO POWER TO CHANGE LANES. AT THIS TIME, TRYING NOT TO GET RUN OVER, I MANAGED TO GET OVER AND COAST TO AN OFF RAMP INTO THE LOWER 9TH WARD(SCARY). CAR WAS DEAD AND WOULD NOT START. BROUGHT TO A DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 1 WEEK BEFORE IT COULD BE LOOKED AT IT. NOT KNOWING IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY NO RENTAL WAS GIVEN AND HAD TO BE PICKED UP BY WIFE, 100 MILES AWAY. ONE WEEK LATER WAS NOTIFIED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE COST FOR $109 BUCKS. IT'S AMAZING HOW I BOUGHT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND A MAJOR PART GOES OUT AND I GOT NO RENTAL AND IT'S GOING TO COST ME MONEY. VW DOESN'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT.END RESULT FROM OWNING A VW TDI, GETTING RUN OVER AT 5 A.M IN THE MORNING, BEING STRANDED IN THE LOWER NINTH WARD OF NEW ORLEANS FOR 3 HOURS SCARED TO GET OUT OF CAR, RIDE WITH WRECKER FOR 1 HOUR TO DEALERSHIP, NO RENTAL CAR TO GET BACK TO WORK, WAIT FOR 1.5 HOURS FOR FAMILY MEMBER TO COME GET ME, WAIT FOR 1 WEEK TO BE TOLD THE REPAIR COST WOULD BE @7K AND A REMANUFACTURED PART WOULD BE PUT BACK, COST OF $109 FOR WARRANTY, ANOTHER WEEKS WAIT FOR REPAIR AND BEST OFF BEING STUCK WITH A CAR THAT HAS NO TRADE IN AFTER ANYONE CHECKS CARFAX. THE REPAIR REPORT INDICATED THAT IT WAS AN INTERNAL HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE. IT CAUSED METAL PIECES TO SPREAD THROUGHOUT THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE TOTAL FOR PARTS ONLY WAS $4445. 2011 JETTA TDI DIESEL - SECOND OCCURRENCE OF ENGINE STALL DUE TO HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP) FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT 40 PLUS MILES PER HOUR. CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS CAR HAS BEEN TOWED DUE TO A DEFECTIVE DESIGN WHICH RESULTS IN THE HIGH PRESSURE PUMP FAILING SENDING DEBRIS THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. NHTSA SAYS IN CONCLUDING STATEMENTS DATED 12/21/12 THAT (NHTSA RECALL NO. 11V-490) 'THE ACTION TAKEN BY VOLKSWAGEN IS SUFFICIENT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUES RAISED BY THIS INVESTIGATION. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THE DEFECT REMAINS AND IS POTENTIALLY A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES AS THE CAR SUDDENLY STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AT NIGHT DURING TRAFFIC HOURS WHEN MY ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. I WAS DOING 50MPH WHEN MY ENGINE SHUT OFF. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND TRAFFIC WAS FLYING BY ME ON BOTH SIDES OF MY CAR SO I WAS AFRAID TO GET OUT THE VEHICLE. LUCKY FOR ME A TOW TRUCK SEEN ME IN DISTRESS AND HELPED GET ME AND MY CAR OFF THE EXPRESSWAY. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP DISINTEGRATED AND SENT METAL SHARDS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. VW TRIED TO ACCUSE ME OF PUTTING REGULAR GAS IN A LOW DIESEL FUEL ENGINE. BUT I HAD MY RECEIPTS FOR PROOF. VW NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER. ON MAY 14, 2012 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON CALIFORNIA I-15 NORTH. I WAS STUCK IN TRAFFIC AROUND THE TAMECULA AREA, AND TRAVELING 15-20 MPH TO DUE TO THE TRAFFIC. I STOPPED MY VEHICLE BECAUSE TRAFFIC STOPPED. TRAFFIC BEGAN TO MOVE ONCE AGAIN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE ONCE AGAIN. I AS PROCEED ON I-15 NORTH, WHEN I HAD TO TRAVEL UP A HILL, THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO DECELERATE EVEN IF I DOWN SHIFT. THE NEXT MORNING MAY 15, 2012 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. LATER THAT AFTER NOON, I WAS CONTACTED BY THE DEALERSHIP STATING THE FUEL SENSOR HAD GONE BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FUEL SENSOR AND I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON THURSDAY MAY 17, 2012. ON FRIDAY MAY 18, 2012 I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO WORK. ON THE WAY HOME, AROUND THE SAME AREA ON THE I-15 NORTH TAMECULA CITY LIMITS. AGAIN MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME MALFUNCTION AS BEFORE, LOST OF POWER, LOST OF ACCELERATION, AND BLINKING ORANGE AMBER LIGHT. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ONE I PROCEEDED TO GO, AND 20 MILES LATER RECEIVED THE BLINKING ORANGE AMBER "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" LIGHT AND "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE MAY 19, 2012 AND LATER THAT DAY WAS TOLD THE FUEL SENSOR AND FUEL PUMP HAD GO BAD. IT IS MAY 29, 2012 AND THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOW TALKED TO OVER 15 PEOPLE IN MY AREA THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I OWN NUMEROUS OTHER DIESEL TRUCKS THAT FILL UP AT THE SAME FILLING STATION AND HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT A RECALL SO THIS IS COVERED BY VW.
