There is a recall for certain VW models because the key may be removed when the vehicle is not in Park position. There is an issue with the micro switch mechanism, resulting in an error code. There is a wide recall for many models, except the 2019 Jetta. My dealer confirmed this is the SAME issue as the recall, but my car is not listed under it. The recall should be expanded for other models. Compliance Recall 37L5 – Shift Lever Micro Switch What vehicles are included in Compliance Recall 37L5? Certain 2015-2018 model year Volkswagen Golf and Golf SportWagen vehicles. What is the concern for Compliance Recall 37L5? Over time, a build-up of silicate on the shift lever micro switch contacts can make it possible to remove the key from the ignition switch without the shift lever being in the "P" Park position. This makes the vehicle noncompliant with 49 CFR 571.114 Standard No. 114 Theft protection and rollaway prevention. If the ignition key is removed without the shift lever being in the "P" Park position, there is a risk that the vehicle may roll away, resulting in a crash that could injure people and damage property. What is the repair for Compliance Recall 37L5? When parts become available, dealers will install an additional switch and circuit board.The recall repair will be FREE.

I went to leave my workplace and got into my car with a message of “Only Exit Vehicle in a P Position. Please Service Vehicle”. I turned off my vehicle and restarted it and the message went away The next morning I got in my vehicle and the same message came back. Leaving my workplace it shut itself off again I found that this year and model has been affected by a recall for that same issue before, but my VIN was not included in that recall order

The dashboard has light on with error message: Only exit vehicle in P position. Please service the vehicle. The light is on and off randomly during driving. Car is drivable even with the light on, but it will have the warning beep which is distractive for driver. There are multiple recalls from VW for other models/years with same error message. The gear shift sensor is malfunctioning in those recalls.

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle in a handicapped parking space, the vehicle failed to stop despite the contact's foot firmly depressed on the brake pedal. As the vehicle continued to move forward with the contact's foot depressed to the floorboard, the vehicle drove over the parking barrier, knocked over the handicapped post, and entered the sidewalk. The vehicle eventually decelerated and the contact managed to shift the vehicle into reverse(R) and regain control of the vehicle. The contact was uncertain if any warning lights appeared on the instrument panel during the failure. Despite the property damage and emotional distress suffered by both the contact and the passenger, no injuries were reported and no immediate medical attention was needed. A police report was not filed and the air bags did not deploy as a result of the failure. The incident was reported to the store manager. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back home without incident. The manufacturer nor the dealer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or serviced. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

My son, [XXX] , bought a 2019 Jetta on [XXX] from Westside VW in St. Louis Park, MN. It was marked as a Certified vehicle. On [XXX] the clutch started slipping. Later that day it gave out completely, and had to be towed to Westside. After service looked, they said that the clutch was burned out, and that this is a “wear and tear” item like tires so that he was on the hook for the entire cost of repairs, $3,433.16. When we pushed harder, they indicated that the clutch had actually been replaced just before [XXX] bought the car, when it had 43,111 miles. It failed at 52,829 miles. He has been driving manual transmission vehicles for around 15 years. I first handed down a 2000 Passat 5-speed that I bought new, and he drove that until it fell apart with around 150,000 miles and the original transmission. Later he bought a 2015 Toyota Corolla with a manual transmission, and drove that for over 80,000 miles until it was totaled in 2023. The point is that he is an experienced driver of manual transmissions. Westside claimed that he caused the clutch to wear out in less than six months and 9,718 miles. Clearly there is a problem with the vehicle if it needs two completely-new clutches in that period of time and low mileage. We are very disappointed and dissatisfied with both Volkswagen quality and Westside VW for not standing by their product. When the 8-speed automatic transmission attempts to shift from 3rd to 4th gear it will slip into neutral causing the engine to redline at maximum RPM. The accelerator pedal does not function and poses a serious safety issue. The vehicle will unexpectedly stall when the auto start stop is used and intermittently requires you to shift into park and restart the engine. The transmission also has difficulty shifting into reverse and puts the vehicle in neutral until it slams into gear.

The contact owns a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving at slower speeds or slowing for traffic signals at approximately 15 MPH, the vehicle would jolt as the transmission automatically downshifted. The contact stated that the vehicle would also jolt into gear and hesitate while depressing the accelerator pedal to accelerate. The contact stated that the transmission in emergency mode warning light recently illuminated during a transmission hard shift failure. The contact stated that almost one year ago the check engine warning light illuminated while the transmission was shifting roughly. The contact stated that the failure had become a recurring failure and the jolting of the transmission while shifting, with the vehicle shaking abnormally. The contact had taken the vehicle to an auto parts vendor who ran a diagnostic test and retrieved the following codes: P0562 (Power Train - System Voltage Low); P0733 (Gear 3 Incorrect Ration); P072B00 (Stuck In Reverse). The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Ignition system (available for inspection upon request) malfunctioned, which disallowed the engine from starting. After multiple attempts, the engine started and I was able to drive and indicate turns, but there was no dashboard display such as speed, gas level, etc. Since the first incident, this has happened 3 times. At one point while driving with no screen display, I forgot to turn off the option for the engine to stop when the car has come to a complete stop. When I stopped at a light, the engine stopped and I was unable to get it to start again for several minutes, causing me to block traffic. There was no warning prior to the failure, just beeping and a screen notification while it was failing. The problem has not been replicated/confirmed, and the vehicle has not been inspected since the issue began to happen. Each time this failure happens, it is during a hot day after the car has been parked in direct sunlight.

Jan 2023-check engine light for oil came on-just had oil change November 21, 2022 and only went 3000 miles. No oil in engine so it was topped off at a local Volkswagon Satellite and inspected for leaks no leaks found. Mid Feb 2023 had to put 2 quarts oil in car and high pitch noise/humming coming from car when driving. Mar 2023 went to VW dealership and explained noise and oil. They said noise was bad wheel bearings and it was ok to drive until backorder came in to replace. Was told the oil consumption is normal for VW despite us telling them it’s not normal consumption and they told us to read the owners manual. They couldn’t find leak, they topped it off and sent us on our way. April,May 2023 humming noise louder and a creaky, clanking, cricket chirp noise began and gear shifting became delayed. Made an appoint with VW dealership for June 2023 for wheel bearings to be replaced and told them about oil (we had to put 2 quarts in June)and new noise, and shifting. Wheel bearings are replaced, noise continued and they replaced front axle, different noise continued and now they are replacing transmission. They said they were going to prep car for oil consumption test but DO NOT have my car back from the shop to drive it to determine the cause. Called sales to get quote on extended warranty as mine is about to expire in about 8000 miles. I was “told it is not an inexpensive car to warranty and was quoted $5749.00 for a 4 yr 60k warranty (it’s in an email I have) My worry is “what else is going to break or even possibly hurt or kill my daughter”. This was her graduation present to get her through college and on her feet with a job. She attended undergrad out of state and now attending her graduate school out of state. 97% of her miles 62-64k are highway miles. She has kept up with all service requirements for her vehicle and has never been in an accident (carfax). All her records are in her car and can upload once we get her car back. Car is at Sheehey VW

Vehicle at 40,000 miles needs a clutch repair. I have owned a standard vehicle my whole life and never had this issue. Looking online there are tons of reports of others having the same issue and Volkswagen not saying there is an issue.

When vehicle is at a stop and then goes to accelerate, between 25 and 30MPH there is a low growl from the engine area and a lag in acceleration and a drop in power, which has proved dangerous when trying to avoid a collision when someone ran a stop sign and I had to try and hurry through to avoid being hit. Sometimes if foot is not on accelerator letting the vehicle coast and then reapplied with vehicle going a decent speed there is also a jumping/jerking motion. Also, the blind spot censor illuminates when nothing is present.

At ~44,000, in a vehicle we bought 3 months earlier from OffLeaseOnly, the clutch burned out and the car ceased forward propulsion on a deserted country road driven by a very experienced manual car driver who had not burned through a clutch in his driving career. There were no warning lights. It put three people at risk. OffLeaseOnly - had done a full inspection AND stood behind their sale by paying for the new clutch assembly. The clutch and associated mechanism was fully replaced by 12/17/2021 by Niello VW. Vehicle was driven from January - August by same driver. There were occasional clutch burning smells but mechanical inspection did not reveal any issue. The car was not driven regularly from Sept - March 2023. Prior to our daughter driving it starting at the end of March, we had it reviewed by a local mechanic who found no issues with the vehicle. At ~54,000 miles, on May 10, the vehicle was being driven on US HWY 280 between San Carlos and Redwood City, CA. Suddenly, the vehicle would not shift and would not go above 40 mph. The very new driver was able to successfully maneuver to the shoulder and bring the car to a stop. Her safety was definitely at risk as 280 is a congested, fast moving highway where the average speed is 75 mph. The clutch was burning. CA HWY Patrol pulled the car to a park in Woodside where it was collected by a flatbed and brought to Boardwalk VW. Once again, the clutch is completely burned out. Boardwalk VW is tearing down the transmission to see if there is a cause for the multiple clutch burnouts. We have multiple manual vehicles - this is only happening with the VW Jetta. I’ve driven manual cars since 1987 and this has NEVER happened with any of them. We are awaiting Boardwalk VW assessment of the cause. There were no warning lights. There were no symptoms of the problem until the car ceased to operate. Both times, we have brought the car to a VW dealer for inspection and repair.

Vehicle has auto hold feature which activates on an incline. UNABLE TO TURN OFF. when driving a manual transmission car, this is causing premature clutch wear. Brake will be engaged for 3 seconds even when gas pedal is depressed. people unaware of this feature can let go of gas pedal and brake causing a roll back into another vehicle or object.

I bought the car October 1 2022 around October 15th it shut off without and warning while crossing over a intersection on November 19th I was on i95 north and it shut off again with no warning I got to the side of the highway and it started I got about a mile up the highway and it shut off a 3rd time this time it said error stop/start

I have had to replace two manual transmission clutches. The first was at 19,261 miles. The second was at 50,358 miles. Both times the engine excessively revved up while driving without shifting and there was a putrid and foul smell of burning rubber along with smoke. VW repair shop isn't taking ownership of a defective transmission, defective clutch, or defective material. I had to have the vehicle towed both times because the vehicle was not safe to drive.

Had a 2019 Jetta 1.4 Turbo and kept hearing the same grinding noise over and over that everyone says. I couldn’t determine if it was coming from the transmission or torque converter or something else. I took it to the VW dealership twice and both times they claimed they couldn’t hear anything and kept my car all day long without calling me or anything. They also said it was normal. I know quite a bit about cars and that’s not normal. It’s kinda like the dealership didn’t want to help. They kept saying it’s still under warranty, so we are documenting it. Ok, I get that, but that’s not helping me at all. They are not worried about it because it’s not their car. Got to the point I finally got fed up with it and sold it. I traded a perfectly good car in to have a newer one only to have problems. It’s gone now of course, but I will never get my other perfectly good car back. Not pleased with Volkswagen and will never buy another one.

I stopped at a red light and when it turned green the car wouldn't move and the RPM's were hung. I was almost rear ended and stuck in an intersection due to this failure. After getting the car to go about 5 MPH without being able to switch gears I was able to pull over to a safer location. I had the car towed to my dealer but they deemed it was a wear and tear issue and blamed bad driving style and cost $3,130 to replace the clutch and flywheel. There were no signs of wear on the clutch and no vehicle indications from the control panel. In addition, the car was brought in for a tire rotation and complementary VW multi-point inspection with no issues cited just a week before this failure.

2019 VW Jetta SE 1.4 tsi *82000 miles *regular car maintenance There is a weird grinding/ whirring noise when accelerating around 1500-2500 rpm id say 2ed or 3ed gear so around 25-35mph. I havent got any warning lights and from what i can read online from numerous others with the same year make and model i have this is a known problem. Ive tried getting it into the dealership but they keep telling me they dont have any loaner cars for me to use because 2021 customer's are priority reason for the loaner is because it takes 3 days for them to be able to proform a full diagnosic on the car but i have took the car to the VW dealer in union city ga 2 times the first time they said the noise was the turbo wastegate and after 8 long hours in the waiting room i get the car back and the dar after the noise is back (on the paper from them the part number isnt a wastegate repair its a boost sensor and my research shows the turbo that VW puts on the car dont make just the wastegate to repair the whole turbo has to be replaced) the second time i took it up there for the same problem they lied about having a loaner car and made me waste a hour drive and gas and i had to ask for the day off to do this. The safty issue concerned with is that when this noise happens its like the car has low power the the specified rpm/mph and when it passes that threshold it takes off and jerks my head back to the headrest reguardless how much the gas pedal is being pushed with the sudden power it could cause me to rear end someone. Another thing im concerned about is that this problem could be due to another car component failing witch could become something serious to be a newer car i dont believe this should be happening ive tried to get it seen about and have had nothing but problems and feel like its getting worse is there anything that could be done to get this looked at and again there are numerous reports online about the same exact problem im having with the 2019 VW jetta se 1.4tsi

VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE ABOUT THIS SITUATION, THEY HAVE SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO HELP THE POWER LOSE ISSUE. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION SEEPS OIL AT THE MATING SURFACE WITH THE ENGINE. DEALER SAYS IT'S NORMAL NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THE OIL LEAK IS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THEM TO FIX IT. I DON'T THINK THAT'S NORMAL, I HAVEN'T HAD A CAR THAT MADE A NOISE LIKE THAT, IT'S NERVE WRECKING I DON'T WANT MY YOUNG SON GET STUCK ON THE FREEWAY ITS DANGEROUS

TRANSMISSION IS MAKING THIS AWFUL GRINDING NOISE AND WHEN IT MAKES THE NOISE THE VEHICLE HAS LITTLE POWER TO ACCELERATE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS NORMAL. IVE NEVER HAD A CAR MAKE SUCH AN AWFUL NOISE FROM THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING IT TO LOSE POWER. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE 2000 MILES IT NEVER DID THAT PRIOR TO THE 2K MILE MARK. THE CAR HAS 6800 MILES ON IT AND IT DOES THIS EVERYTIME I DRIVE NOW.

POSSIBLE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 3RD AND 5TH GEAR. THIS NOISE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM THE DEALER. RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2019 VW JETTA AND HAVING THE SAME ISSUES THAT MANY OF THE OTHER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING. UNDER LOW ACCELERATION IT STALLS AND MAKES A GRINDING, WHIRRING SOUND BELOW 20-30 MPH. IT MAKES ME TIMID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED PEOPLE TO REAR END ME DUE TO THE STALL. IT FALLS ON ITS FACE WHEN YOU NEED IT TO MOVE. I'M CONCERNED AS THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN LOUDER THE LAST FEW MONTHS. FIRSTLY, THERE IS SOME GRINDING NOISE THAT COMES FROM THE POWERTRAIN/ ENGINE WHEN THE CAR SPEED INCREASES FROM 24-35MPH. THIS NOISE IS VERY SCARY AS IF SOME METAL PIECES ARE BEING SCRAPED TOGETHER. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER, HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS NORMAL WHICH DEFINITELY ISN'T. SECONDLY, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR RATTLES WHEN LISTEN TO BASS HEAVY MUSIC. WHEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IS THE WAY HOW THE CAR DOOR WAS BEING BUILT. BUT THIS ISN'T SOME REASON THAT THEY WOULD GIVE FOR A PERSON BUYING A BRAND NEW CAR. BOTH THE ISSUES WHERE HAPPENING SINCE THE FIRST WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED MY CAR.

THE TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS GROUND GOING INTO REVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE JETTA'S. WHILE DRIVING, I WILL PUT IT INTO 1ST GEAR AND START MOVING, AND THEN IT WILL EITHER GET "STUCK" INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR, I CAN TAKE IT OUT OF GEAR BUT CANNOT ENGAGE ANOTHER GEAR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN SMELL THE CLUTCH BURNING. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ASSURED ME MY TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH WERE FINE. DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, ONLY ABOUT ONCE A MONTH AND IT HAPPENS IN VARYING WEATHER CONDITIONS. NO TWO TIMES WERE THE CONDITIONS THE SAME. I HAVE NOT CHANGED MY DRIVING, I AM NOT HARD ON MY VEHICLES. 2019 JETTA S. BEGAN STALLING AFTER 6 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW WITH 62 MILES. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO DEALER 09/27/2019 AND THEY STATED IT WAS FINE NO ISSUES COULD BE FOUND. ON 05/18/2020 THE CAR STALLED AGAIN IT HAD 15452 MILES ON IT. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY KEPT THE CAR UNTIL 07/25/2020 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED IT WAS FIXED. ON 07/30/2020 THE VEHICLE STALLED AGAIN, AND THIS TIME THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A CENTER MEDIAN WITH LARGE BOULDERS IN IT. IF THEY WERE NOT THERE I WOULD HAVE CONTINUED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS TRAVELING AT 45 MPH WHEN THE IMPACT OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE SAFETY SYSTEMS DID NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE THE CARS ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING AT THE TIME OF IMPACT.

THE EIGHT SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MAKES A LOUD GRINDING NOISE IN THE MID GEAR RANGE WHEN UNDER ANY SORT OF LOAD. OCCASIONALLY THIS NOISE PREVENTS A PROPER DOWNSHIFT UPHILL, PREVENTING THE PROPER AMOUNT OF POWER TO BE DISTRIBUTED, AND AS A RESULT THE CAR SLOWS. THE LACK OF POWER, AS A RESULT OF A DELAYED DOWNSHIFT AND GRINDING OF THE TRANSMISSION, CAN ALSO BE NOTED WHEN TRYING TO OVERTAKE ON A HIGHWAY. WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE THROTTLE IS DEPRESSED TO SPEED UP, THE TRANSMISSION GRINDS AND PRODUCES POWER ONLY AFTER A DELAY. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAFFIC IS CLOSELY FOLLOWING BEHIND MY VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS IN ALL DRIVING MODES (NORMAL, SPORT, ECO, CUSTOM). THE NOISE IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER. VW HAS STATED THIS IS A NORMAL NOISE, AND OFFERS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THE NOISE BEGAN WITH ONLY 150 MILES ON THE CAR, AND HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE EVER SINCE. PLEASE CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS DEFECT.

I HAVE A VERY LOUD CLICKING/TAPPING NOISE WHEN AT IDLE AND LOWER RPMS. VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 9,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHEN NOISE STARTED. I HAVE MULTIPLE VIDEOS AND SOUNDS RECORDINGS OF THE VEHICLE HAVING THIS NOISE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. I SHOWED THE SERVICE ADVISOR THE VIDEOS AND HE SAID "IT DOES NOT SOUND NORMAL AT ALL, IN FACT IT SOUNDS LIKE INTERNAL DAMAGE/DEFECT". THE TECH HAD TAKEN IT INTO THE SHOP AND CAME BACK AND SAID IT SOUNDED 100% NORMAL. I AM NOW AT 12,000 MILES AND DID MY OIL CHANGE AT THE 10,000 MILE MARK. NOISE IS STILL THERE. HOWEVER, AT 39,000 MILES MY CAR BEGAN "HARD-SHIFTING" AND WOULD GET STUCK/LOCKED IN GEAR AT SLOW TRAFFIC SPEEDS (20-40MPH). IT WOULD THEN SLAM INTO GEAR, AND I WOULD CONTINUE ON MY WAY. TOOK THE CAR INTO VOLKSWAGEN, REQUESTED TO SEE THE FOREMAN TO REPLICATE MY ISSUE. TALKED TO VW CUSTOMER CARE IN ORDER TO OPEN A CASE. REPLICATED THE ISSUE WITH THE FOREMAN, AND THEY TOOK MY CAR FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THEY FOUND AS FOLLOWS: - BURNT TRANSMISSION FLUID - METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID - METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL - METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL COOLER. CAR FELT VERY UNSAFE FOR REGULAR USE. CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE CORRECTLY. BEING STUCK IN GEAR REQUIRES ME TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER DURING FREEWAY DRIVING. WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO ACCELERATE CORRECTLY. HAPPENED DURING SLOW SPEEDS, ROUGHLY 25-40MPH, ALSO, WHILE SPEEDING UP TO ROUGHLY 60MPH.

IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER AND MORE SEVERE OVER THE LAST 4-5 MONTHS I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S NORMAL BUT IT SOUNDS AND FEELS TERRIBLE. THE CAR FEELS VERY UNSAFE. SOMETIMES IT ACCELERATES VERY SLOWLY AND OTHER TIMES I BARELY PRESS THE PEDAL AND IT TAKES OFF AND THE TIRES SPIN. WHEN DRIVING IN ECO MODE THE INTERNAL COMPUTER SEEMS TO FORGET AND SWITCHES BACK INTO REGULAR DRIVE MODE BUT THE ECO MODE BUTTON WILL STAY ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH THE DASH DISPLAY SAYS IT IS IN DRIVE. AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE GRINDING BECOMES MORE OF A LOW GROWL OR SCRAPE AND ALSO VIBRATES MUCH MORE ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING OR ACCELERATING. WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR TO LEAVE HOME OR LEAVE WORK MY BRAKES SCREECH THE FIRST 3-4 TIMES I APPLY THEM. IT'S SO LOUD THAT MY NEIGHBORS HAVE COMPLAINED MULTIPLE TIMES. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF DRIVING I DO OR WHERE IT IS THE VEHICLE FEELS UNSAFE AND MAKES LOUD GRINDING NOISES WHEN ACCELERATING OR CRUISING.

IT DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME, I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY. BRAND NEW CAR! I RECENTLY STARTED A LEASE FOR A 2019 JETTA SE. I STARTED TO NOTICE A STRANGE SOUND LIKE SCRAPPING AND GRINDING AS THE CAR ACCELERATED AND PARTICULARLY AROUND THE 20-30 MPH MARK. IT IS ALMOST LIKE A SHALLOW HOWLING AND SEEMINGLY FROM THE TRANSMISSION. PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT I BROUGHT THE CAR NEW ABOUT 25 MILES ON IT AND THE NOISE STARTED ALMOST INSTANTLY. THE VW DEALERSHIP I WENT TO GAVE NO GOOD RESOLUTION AND INFORMED ME THAT THE NOISE WAS 'NORMAL' OF THIS TRANSMISSION. A NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION OF A NEW CAR SHOULD NEVER BE TAKEN AS 'NORMAL'. I HAVE ENJOYED DRIVING THE 2017 MODEL THE LAST 3 PRIOR YEARS AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS RESPONSE AND THE WAY THE VEHICLE IS FUNCTIONING. SINCE DAY ONE CAR IS SHAKING LIKE A BOAT, WHEN I DRIVE IT ON A HIGHWAY MAKING IT NOT STABLE. BRAKES SQUEAK AND I SEE SIGNS ON THE BRAKE DISK.I AM WITH THE ORIGINAL BRAKES. IT STALLED OUT TWICE ON MY WHEN DRIVING HOME THE OTHER NIGHT IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED A FEW DIFFERENT TIMES TO THE POINT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE WITH MY NEPHEWS IN THE CAR. I PURCHASED MY VW JETTA AUTOBAHN EDITION 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION (BUILD DATE OF 07/19) ON 10/06/2019. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW WITH UNDER 10 MILES ON IT AND SINCE DAY 1 WHEN I DROVE IT HOME, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE STALLING IN LOW SPEEDS. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF WITHOUT WARNING AS I SLOW TO A STOP AND HAPPENS WITH OR WITHOUT THE CLUTCH ENGAGED AND ALSO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN NEUTRAL. ALL OF THE STALLS HAVE OCCURRED WHILE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING IN THE AFTERNOONS MAINLY AND ONLY AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 10+ MILES BUT ONCE THE FIRST STALL OCCURS, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AGAIN WITHIN 1-2 MILES THEREAFTER. ON A SINGLE DRIVE, IT HAS STALLED UP TO 5-6 TIMES. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING INCORRECT GEAR INDICATOR. FOR EXAMPLE, IF I AM IN 3RD GEAR, THE VEHICLE REGISTERS THAT I AM IN 5TH GEAR AND VICE VERSA. MY VEHICLE HAS UNDER 2K MILES AND IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. 2019 VW JETTA GTI AUTOBAHN MANUAL TRANSMISSION STALLS OR LOSES ENGINE POWER RANDOMLY. FOR ME, IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN 5TH OR 6TH GEAR WHEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND COASTING, THE CAR WILL CHOKE AND FEELS AS THOUGH FUEL IS CUTOFF AND THE ENGINE CANNOT GENERATE POWER. THE STALLING HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE "AUTO STOP START" FEATURE BEING DISABLED OR ENABLED, AND HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY ONCE EVERY THREE OR MORE COMPLETE STOPS BUT USUALLY NOT FOR THE FIRST 3 WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST TURNED ON. THE CAR ALSO MAKES AN AUDIBLE GRINDING SOUND WHEN ENGINE STALLS. IN ALL INSTANCES ONCE THE CAR HAS STALLED IT REQUIRES A MANUAL RESTART BY PUTTING THE VEHICLE BACK IN PARK, AND PRESSING THE VEHICLE START BUTTON WITH BRAKE DEPRESSED. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE STALLING, THE CAR HAS ONCE TURNED OFF WHEN STARTED REMOTELY AND NO PASSENGERS INSIDE. I HAVE APPROACHED THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS AFTER REMOTE START WAS ENGAGED, OPENED THE TRUCK, LOADED A FEW ITEMS, AND CAR TURNED OFF. A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. USING A VAG505 SCANNER I WAS ABLE TO FIND 01-ENGINE FAULT CODE 15080 AND 08-AUTO HVAC FAULT CODE 1048838. VIDEOS OF THE AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES HAVE BEEN UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE AND CAN BE MADE AVAILABLE VIA REQUEST.

I STARTED NOTICING THESE ISSUES EVEN WHEN THE CAR HAD UNDER 100 MILES ON IT, AND I STILL ONLY HAVE AROUND 500 MILES ON IT RIGHT NOW. I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THE END OF MY WORK WEEK WHEN I HAVE TIME. HOWEVER, FROM WHAT I'VE READ, VW IS REFUSING MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE HELP AND DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT IS A PROBLEM TO THEM, CLAIMING THAT THE NOISE IS "NORMAL." IT IS NOT A HARD STALL LIKE LEARNING TO DRIVE STICK. IT JUST STRUGGLES AND SOFTLY DIES OUT. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR WILL TEND TO DISPLAY THE WRONG GEAR, PARTICULARLY WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST SIMPLY REFILLED THE FLUID AND STATED TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. THIS CAR'S TRANNY FLUID WAS REFILLED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. NO PARTS CHANGED AT ALL, BUT THEY SAY IT'S FIXED. MUST BE MAGICAL TRANNY FLUID THEY PUT IN THIS TIME. SO NOW I WAIT FOR THE CAR TO BREAKDOWN AGAIN AND HOPE THAT I DON'T GET CAUGHT IN A POSITION WHERE I NEED TO ACCELERATE AND IT GETS STUCK IN A LOW GEAR. AND TO TOP IT OFF, I GOT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT A NEW CAR WOULD BE DEPENDABLE... WHILE ACCELERATING, A DISTINCT GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE IS CONSISTENTLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. THIRD PARTY MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS A HAZARD FOR THE TRANSMISSION, AND HAVE ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO VOLKSWAGEN FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR. BOTH THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE NOTIFIED ME THE GRINDING NOISE IS NORMAL AND OF NO CONCERN. HOWEVER, A SOFTWARE PATCH IS AVAILABLE TO "FIX" THE "NON-ISSUE". VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO NOTIFIED ME THE PATCH DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE GRINDING NOISE. WHEN I PRESSED FURTHER, CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTIFIED ME THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS AND "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO AT THIS TIME TO FIX IT." THE DEALERSHIP ALSO CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS PRESENT IN OTHER 2019 JETTAS ON THEIR LOT, WHICH IS WHY THEY SAID THE NOISE IS NORMAL FOR MY VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE VW HAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH ALL 2019 JETTAS, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW AND/OR REFUSE TO FIX IT.

TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE. TRANSMISSION MAKES LOUD NOISE IN 5TH AROUND 25 - 30 MPH GEAR. HAS A VIBRATION OVER 45 MPH AND OVER AT STEADY SPEED. VW HAS A SOFTWARE PATCH TCM 37L7 (HELPS TO REDUCE 450HZ VIBRATION) WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO HELP, BUT THEY WILL NOT PATCH CARS ALREADY SOLD. WHEN I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IT HAD UNDER 10 MILES. IT DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE UNTIL I PUT ON JUST OVER 100 MILES. THE PATCH IS MORE OF A MASK THAN A FIX. V W ALSO HAS HAD MANY TRANSMISSION SEAL LEAKS, I SUSPECT THAT THE VIBRATION THE TORQUE CONVERTER PRODUCES IS THE CAUSE.

VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A POLE WHICH STOPPED IT FROM MOVING FORWARD WHILE IN REVERSE. ALL PHOTO AND VIDEO DOCUMENTED. VOLKSWAGEN CLAIMS THIS PROOF DOES NOT MATTER BECAUSE 'THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO A RESIDUE FROM MANUFACTURING ON THE WINDSHIELD WHICH THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO REMOVE, AND THE ISSUE IS STILL PERSISTENT. THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD OR ADMIT THE PROBLEM IS FROM MANUFACTURING. GOT CALLED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS A LEAK AND THE DEALER RECOMMENDS NOT TO DRIVE IT. BONUS, PARTS ARE NOT READY FOR A WEEK AND THEY ARE ALL OUT OF LOANERS. I WAS GOING TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FAMOUS 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION "GROAN", BUT NOW THIS HAPPENED. ONE THING AT A TIME, VW REGIONAL REP IS GOING TO CALL ME TOMORROW AFTER CALLING 1 800 "FU" VW AND "TRY" TO GET ME A LOANER. I JUST WANTED THIS DOCUMENTED. VW BETTER TAKE CARE OF THIS OR THEY DIDN'T LEARN FROM DIESEL GATE AND WE WILL ALL SEE THEM IN COURT AGAIN. FYI.. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE 10,000 SERVICE, I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING GRINDING AND GROANING NOISES. HE ALSO SAID HE IS LIMITED IN WHAT HE CAN DO AT THE LOCAL LEVEL BECAUSE "WE DIDN'T MAKE THE CAR." THIS DOES NOT SOUND "NORMAL" TO ME. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY VEHICLE WILL INCUR LONG-TERM DAMAGE, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC SAFETY RISK. IT ALSO REPRESENTS A POTENTIAL FINANCIAL RISK FOR MYSELF AND OTHER UNKNOWING BUYERS. VOLKSWAGEN ALLOWED ME TO REVIEW A DOCUMENT STATING THEY WERE AWARE OF THE TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE WITH THIS CAR, HOWEVER, THEY ARE CLAIMING IT'S NORMAL. AGAIN, SAFE TORQUE CONVERTERS DO NOT GRIND OR SCRAPE. HERE'S THE ID TO THE VOLKSWAGEN DOCUMENT THAT CAN BE REQUESTED FROM VW: 32-18-01TT. THE 2019 VW JETTA THAT I HAVE WAS TAKEN TO A 3RD PARTY TRANSMISSION EXPERT AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SERIOUS DEFECT AND THEY DID NOT FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. I FEEL THE SAME WAY, HOWEVER, I'M BEING TOLD BY VW AND THEIR DEALERSHIPS THAT GRINDING TRANSMISSIONS ARE NORMAL AND SAFE WHICH CONTRADICTS REALITY. GRINDING TRANSMISSIONS ON NEW VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE, THEY'RE DEFECTIVE AND SAYING THAT THEY ARE NORMAL IS LEGALLY CONCERNING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THE SAFETY AND VALUE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS ISSUE FOR A NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA'S. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND JUST WANT THE PROBLEM FIXED BY VOLKSWAGEN. THEY HAVE REFUSED TO HELP ME 3 TIMES AND I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A RUN AROUND BY VW REGIONAL CARE PROVIDERS WITH THIS ISSUE, TOO (IT'S BEEN A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH VW AT TRYING TO GET THE VEHICLE BOUGHT BACK FOR SUCH A BAD DEFECT).

I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN EARLY MAY 2018. EARLY ON, I EXPERIENCED INCREASING RPM WHEN THE GAS WAS RELEASED AND THE CLUTCH ENGAGED. A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL COULD BE DETECTED FROM THE CLUTCH SOME OF THE TIME. HOWEVER, ON 3 OCCASIONS, THIS MALFUNCTION WAS EXTRAORDINARY, WHERE THE ENGINE RPM SOARED VERY HIGH AND THE CLUTCH DID NOT SEEM TO FULLY DISENGAGE. ON ALL THREE INCIDENTS, THE BURNING SMELL WAS SIGNIFICANT. WITH ONLY 5800 MILES, THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE CLUTCH WAS WORN TO THE RIVETS. VW OF AMERICA'S RESPONSE; 'OPERATOR ERROR' ' NOT A WARRANTY CONCERN. POINT OF REFERENCE: I HAVE OWNED / OPERATED 8 CARS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION OVER THE PAST 43 YEARS FOR A TOTAL OF OVER 700,000 MILES OF DRIVING. I HAVE NEVER NEEDED TO SERVICE A CLUTCH UNDER 100,000 MILES OF SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS MALFUNCTION, AS IT ONLY OCCURRED A FEW TIMES EACH MONTH. VW OF AMERICA AGREES IT IS VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE A CLUTCH WEAR SO QUICKLY, BUT ALSO BELIEVES IT IS DUE TO THE WAY I DRIVE THE CAR AND NOT COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY. 90% OF MY DRIVING IS ON A 30 MILE (INTERSTATE) SEGMENT BETWEEN MY HOME AND O'HARE AIRPORT (I AM AN AIRLINE PILOT). I CANNOT IMAGINE THE DELIBERATE EFFORT IT WOULD TAKE, OR THE PAIN IN SITTING THROUGH THE KIND OF 'NORMAL' CLUTCH ACTION IT WOULD REQUIRE TO WEAR MY CLUTCH DOWN TO NOTHING IN JUST 5800 MILES. VW OF AMERICA GAVE ME 30 DAYS TO ACCEPT THEIR FINAL OFFER: A REDUCED COST TO ME FOR THE REPAIR OF MY WORN CLUTCH. VW IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THERE IS ANYTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH MY CAR OR THE OPERATION OF THE MANUAL CLUTCH SYSTEM. THERE IS NO CONCERN FOR THE ONGOING ISSUE ONCE THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN RESTORED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH OR HIGHER, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BUZZING AND GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO SUNRISE VOLKSWAGEN (931 SUNRISE HWY, LYNBROOK, NY 11563, (516) 596-5970) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED, BUT AN APPOINTMENT COULD NOT BE MADE UNTIL JANUARY 18, 2019. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 250. *DT CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER NO "REPAIR" WOULD BE NEEDED THAT THEY FELT IT IS NORMAL. *JB

WELL AGAIN MY I HAD TO TAKE MY 2019 JETTA BACK TO LUNDE'S IN PEORIA, AZ. AFTER THE TRANSMISSION LEAK WAS FIXED IN AUGUST, I NOTICED ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE CAR WAS JERKING A LOT AND NOT ACCELERATING WHEN I HAD MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. ( LIKE WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE GAS, BUT DISCOVER YOUR CAR IS NEUTRAL AND NOT DRIVE.) THIS BECAME VERY DANGEROUS AND THE DELAY TIME WAS GETTING LONGER AND LONGER TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS ABOUT HALF A MINUTE BEFORE IT WOULD ACCELERATE. OR WOULD BE ACCELERATING FINE THEN MID DRIVE OR WHEN TURNING, IT WOULD JUST STOP AND COAST AND NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN WHEN YOU PUSHED YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS OTHER THEN THE CAR REVVING AND NOT MOVING. I TOOK MY JETTA BACK INTO LUNDE'S (AGAIN) AND THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A MONTH. THEY REPLACED THE O RINGS, AS PEOPLE HAVE MENTIONED ON HERE AND I WAS TOLD THAT NOW VW HAS REMADE ALL THE O RINGS TO WORK AND FIT PROPERLY IN THE TRANSMISSION. I PICKED UP MY CAR AT LUNDE'S AND IMMEDIATELY WENT TO GET GAS. I WAS WAITING IN LINE WITH THE CAR IN PARK & STILL RUNNING. WHEN I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE SAID RESTART ENGINE! SO THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ME! I CALLED LUNDE'S BACK AND WAS TOLD IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO CALL THEM. WELL, IT DID, AND I DID NOT CALL THEM BACK BECAUSE I OPENED UP A CASE WITH VW OF AMERICA TO TRY TO GET A BUYBACK OR REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE IF MY AUTO LOAN COMPANY FIRST INVESTORS WILL PROCESS THE SUBSTITUTION OF COLLATERAL REQUEST. THIS WAY I CAN KEEP EVERYTHING THE SAME ON MY LOAN (BC I UPGRADED AND NOW HAVE NEGATIVE EQUITY THE BUY BACK OPTION IS NOT FINANCIALLY A GOOD OPTION FOR ME) SO OF COURSE MY AUTO LOAN COMPANY STATES "THEY DO NOT DO THAT ANYMORE". SO NOW I AM GOING BACK AND FORTH WITH THEM SO I AM NOT STUCK IN AN UNSAFE CAR. DO NOT BUY A 2019 JETTA UNTIL VW GETS IT FIGURED OUT ON ALL THE FAULTY PARTS AND DO NOT GET AN AUTO LOAN WITH 1ST INVESTORS. WHY IS THIS CAR NOT RECALLED YET?

HEAVY ABRUPT GRIND WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. SOMETIMES REFUSES TO EVEN GO INTO REVERSE WITHOUT MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND FORCING SHIFTER. TO AVOID, DRIVER MUST FIRST SHIFT TO 1ST GEAR, THEN SHIFT TO REVERSE WITHOUT EVER LIFTING OFF OF THE CLUTCH DIRING THAT SEQUENCE. AND WHEN EXECUTING THAT SEQUENCE, SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION DOEA NOT GO INTO REVERSE COMPLETELY CAUSING GEAR GRIND WHEN THE DRIVER RELEASES THE CLUTCH.

AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE 2019 JETTA AT THE END OF JUNE, I HAD TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION LEAK FIXED AND THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED FOR A LARGE LEAK. IT TOOK OVER 2 WKS TO GET THE CAR BACK. THEN FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW, THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING ROUGH, NOT ACCELERATING WITHOUT A HUGE DELAY & JERKING. IT'S LIKE THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL WHEN YOU TRY TO STEP ON THE GAS. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAVE TO SEND A REP OUT FROM VOLKSWAGEN TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA HOW LONG THAT WILL TAKE SO I WILL HAVE THE LOANER VEHICLE INDEFINITELY. I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE TO OPEN A CASE TO SEE IF I CAN GET A BUYBACK OPTION BECAUSE THE DEALER STATED THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO AT THIS POINT.

THIS AFFECTS HOW YOU MUST DRIVE. AS SOMEONE ELSE STATED YOU MUST DRIVE MORE AGGRESSIVELY TO ELIMINATE THE SOUND. THERE ARE SEVERAL REPORTS OF THIS WITH OTHER JETTA OWNERS IN MY AREA. THIS HAPPENS CONSTANT. IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED EVENT. I HAVE REPORT THIS TO MY DEALERSHIP AS WELL.
